Reborn in the Post-Apocalyptic World: Building Infrastructure

Chapter 33: This is The Only Land That Won’t Be Affected by Natural Disasters

A few people dressed in ethnic minority attire walked out from behind the checkpoint, holding several black shotguns in their hands.

Sheng Hongye immediately opened the car door and raised his hands to indicate their peaceful intentions.

"Brothers, we were passing through here, thinking there was no one around, and just wanted to take a look. If your farm doesn't allow outsiders, we'll leave right away."

A young man in his twenties stared closely at Sheng Hongye's face and cautiously asked, "Your surname is Sheng? Sheng as in 'prosperity'?"

"Do you know me?" Sheng Hongye was somewhat surprised.

The young man shook his head. "I don't know you, but the prophet said you would come here."

"The prophet?" Sheng Hongye frowned, suddenly recalling someone, and couldn't help but glance at Su Ling.

Su Ling immediately understood his thoughts; it might be Liu Yu.

The young man nodded and said, "He said you would come here and told us to wait here. It seems he was right, please follow me."

At this moment, Er Lei and the others also got out of the car.

Sheng Hongye gestured to them, and everyone entered the farm.

After walking for about six or seven minutes, they came across a courtyard surrounded by barbed wire.

The courtyard was quite large, about five to six hundred square meters, with electrified fences along the edges.

As the group looked around, Liu Yu, wearing glasses, came out from inside, draped in something like a robe, giving off a rather pretentious vibe.

He was accompanied by two middle-aged men, who seemed very respectful.

"Liu Yu, you're really thoughtless, leaving us behind and running off on your own."

Geng Hao scolded him as soon as they met.

The two middle-aged men immediately glared angrily at Geng Hao, showing signs of wanting to fight without saying a word.

Su Ling hurriedly stopped Geng Hao; it wasn't the time to settle scores. They needed to quickly understand the current situation.

Liu Yu smiled and spoke a bunch of things in a hushed tone to the two men, and they backed off.

Su Ling immediately asked, "Is this the East you mentioned? What are these people doing?"

Liu Yu seemed very pleased with Su Ling and the others' arrival. He ushered them into the house and said with a smile, "Miss Su, I knew you would come. Yes, this is the East I mentioned. These people are all Tibetan men, very warm and simple-hearted. I helped them predict some things, so they treat me like a prophet."

Sheng Hongye glanced around and then turned to Liu Yu.

"Did you really gain supernatural ability because of that rain?"

Liu Yu didn't hide it; he nodded openly.

"Yes, I saw long-legged fish and winged shrimp in my visions. At first, I thought I was just overly nervous and had a dream, until I saw the real objects and realized I might have gained some kind of extraordinary ability."

"So, you also saw that we would come?"

Liu Yu nodded. "Not only did I know you would come, I also knew we would stay here for a while."

"Are you saying... we can settle here?"

Sheng Hongye was clearly not satisfied with the place.

Although the walls were surrounded by barbed wire, the buildings were too low. If zombies came, they could easily climb in, and the three rooms wouldn't be enough to accommodate so many people.

Liu Yu seemed to have read his mind and said calmly, "This will be the only place near Lizhou that won't be affected by natural disasters. Mr. Sheng, if you trust me, stay."

Then he turned to Su Ling with a mysterious smile. "As long as Miss Su is here, I guarantee this place won't fall."

Sheng Hongye's brow furrowed like a sharp blade as he looked at Su Ling.

"What do you mean..."

Before Su Ling could speak, Li Xueying's voice came through.

"Brother Ye, I don't want to stay here. If we can't stay in Lizhou, we can go to the next city."

Sheng Hongye ignored her and kept his deep gaze on Su Ling.

After a moment of silence, Su Ling said, "I've decided to stay, but I don't know if these people are willing to take in outsiders?"

Liu Yu smiled and said, "Rest assured, I've already talked to them. I believe no base would want to give up someone as talented as Miss Su."

Su Ling glanced at him but remained silent.

After thinking for a while, Sheng Hongye said lightly, "Since Miss Su has agreed, I've decided to stay as well."

Liu Yu immediately called the two people inside and instructed them in Mandarin to tidy up the house and inform them that these people would be staying.

The two men didn't have much of an expression, nodded, and then left.

Liu Yu turned his gaze to Geng Hao.

"Future classmate Lei Zhenzi, you are an indispensable person for us." 1Lei Zhenzi is a term that refers to Geng Hao. The term seems to be a nickname or alias for Geng Hao; it is related to his ability, thunderstorm or thunderbolt.

Geng Hao still harbored resentment towards Liu Yu, snorted, and ignored him.

Su Ling's pupils contracted slightly at the mention of Lei Zhenzi. He really knew something, not just about Geng Hao but about herself as well.

In the meantime, the two people had already entered the room, speaking in broken Mandarin.

"Prophet, the two rooms in the backyard are ready. You can go rest there."

"Okay, take them there. Miss Su will stay. I have something to discuss with you."

Liu Yu waved his hand at Su Ling and went back inside.

Su Ling hesitated for a moment and followed.

In a moment, there were only two people left in the room.

Su Ling asked directly, "It seems you really have the ability of foresight. I'm curious, what will the future of humanity be like? Will we distance ourselves from civilization and live like savages?"

Liu Yu shrugged. "I can't foresee something that far away. I can only predict events happening in the next few days. I asked you to stay because I wanted to tell you that you will be in danger in the coming days, and one of these two women will harm you."

"Thank you for the warning."

Liu Yu chuckled, and a hint of weirdness flashed in his eyes.

"You're welcome. We help each other here. The reinforcement of this farm is up to Miss Su."

Su Ling's lips curved slightly as she replied, "Okay, can I go out now?"

Liu Yu nodded with a smile.

Su Ling turned and left the room, but as soon as she stepped outside, her brow furrowed slightly.

From the beginning, she felt that Liu Yu was not just an ordinary accountant. Now that he had gained supernatural ability, his thoughts seemed even more profound. Being with someone who knew so much about her and Geng Hao, made her unsure whether it was a right or wrong decision.

As she arrived in the backyard, Geng Hao was standing at the door, apparently waiting for her.

"Sister Su Ling, what did Liu Yu tell you?"

"He said he did gain supernatural ability because of that heavy rain."

Geng Hao nodded. "The rooms have been assigned. You three ladies can stay in this small room, and we'll take the larger one. If you need anything, just call me, Sister Su Ling."

"I understand."

Su Ling opened the car door, took her luggage, and as soon as she entered the room, Li Xueying asserted her dominance, saying, "There's only one bedroom in the house, and Su Rou and I will take it. The sofa is yours."
