Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Lori is pregnant

More than ten minutes later, Rick and his troops arrived at Oak Leaf Street. Leon discussed tactics with him, and Rick directly boarded a military truck.

Under his command, three military trucks lined up in a square and began to accelerate. The huge rams on the front of the trucks were like the scythe of the god of death. With a terrifying whistle, they crashed directly into the center of the zombie horn, scattering the zombies, crushing all enemies who dared to resist, and directly pushed the battle line 100 meters.

Three employees from the security department climbed onto the back of a military truck and began to operate the heavy machine gun welded to it to fire. There was no need for precise aiming, as three dense trajectories formed a terrifying firing point. Any monster on the trajectory was torn into pieces by the bullets within seconds.

At the entrance of Oak Leaf Street, more than 20 soldiers armed with assault rifles slowly entered the street. They formed three lines of defense, clearing out the surviving zombies under heavy machine guns as they moved.

As the rifle squad moved deeper and finished off the zombies, there was soon no zombie left on the street.

With a slight smile on his face, Leon glanced at the professors and students and said:

"Hurry up and get in the car, otherwise, the noise here will soon attract all the zombies nearby."

Under Leon's command, everyone came and left quickly. After the Umbrella Corporation's convoy left the scene, only corpses were left on the ground on Oak Leaf Street.

After the trip to the Polytechnic Institute, Umbrella Corporation welcomed more than 100 new members. Lyon no longer thought about making any big moves, but instead spent half a month concentrating on taking care of the internal affairs of the base.

There is no doubt that after seeing the horrific zombie world outside the base and the miserable lives of the survivors who had newly joined the base, the three professors and more than 100 students chose to join Umbrella Corporation.

Perhaps it is because the young people are brave, dare to fight, and are unwilling to do the boring logistical work, so the Umbrella Corporation suddenly has more than 40 combat personnel, more than 30 technicians and more than 20 logistical personnel. Including the scattered survivors who have been recruited in the past half month, the number of people in the Umbrella Corporation has suddenly expanded to more than 230.

The combatants of the security department were divided into three teams by Leon, each team has more than 20 people, but because most of them are students with no combat experience, the current task of the combat team is to clean up the zombies in the buildings around the base.

In the next month, Leon wants to clear out all the zombies within a 3-kilometer radius and push the base's defense line to the actual periphery of the CDC to prevent other predators from attacking the base's glass exterior wall.

The work of the Engineering Department is not easy either. Currently, all the soldier equipment, vehicle modification and production of certain daily necessities in the base require their help. The addition of new members has led Leon to give them two more tasks.

One task is to use the zombies' stupid intelligence to create some trap-like devices to effectively eliminate their numbers, just like some tower defense games.

Another task was to grow vegetables. Yes, that is to grow vegetables. Lyon was tired of eating canned food for more than two months. There happened to be several children born in rural areas among this group of students from the Polytechnic Institute. Lyon also delegated authority to them, allowing them to consult the elderly people in the base and strive to build a vegetable garden within a few months to supply hundreds of people.

The primary task of the logistics department is also coming to an end. The apartments on the second floor of the underground parking lot are 70% complete and it is expected to take another week to be completed.

As the number of people in the base continued to increase, Leon also added two assistants to each of the three administrative staff members, Amy, Quinn, and Andrea, all of whom were college students from the Polytechnic Institute, so that they would be able to complete the management work of so many employees.

These government affairs seem simple, but they are quite troublesome to operate in practice. During this period, Lyon spends most of his energy on this every day.

Fortunately, after half a month of hard work, the operation of Umbrella Corporation has gradually returned to the right track, and gradually there is no need for the boss Leon to do everything personally.

On this day, Leon came to the medical room to conduct a final re-examination of Lori's injuries. After a month of treatment, the lady's body was no longer in danger and she was able to be officially discharged from the hospital.

Sean, Carl and Rick were all by Lori's side, talking to her softly and gently. Perhaps because of the physical and mental trauma she suffered, the lady became a little taciturn. She knew in her heart that the loss of her eyes made her a burden to her family in this world.

Looking at the scene of their family supporting each other, Leon felt a little moved, but there was a piece of news that he had to tell them, because even if he didn't say it now, they would be able to discover it themselves after a while.

Leon coughed, waved gently to Sean and Rick, and took them to another separate room. Without too much greeting, he got straight to the point and said:

"I want to tell you something about Ms. Lori. I hope you can be mentally prepared in advance."

Sean and Rick felt nervous and asked quickly:

"Dr. Custer, what's wrong with Lori?"

Leon looked into their eyes with a serious expression.

"Ms. Lori is pregnant. She has some mental problems right now. She is too negative. This is likely to affect the health of the fetus."

Looking at the two people who were struck by lightning, Leon continued:

"I can probably imagine the problems between you, but fate never gives you the chance to choose. Everyone just goes with the flow."

"I hope you can handle this matter calmly and not ruin the sincere feelings between you because of a momentary impulse. Ms. Lori can't accept such a blow. Think about Karl and don't let tragedy happen to this child again."

After saying this, he nodded to the two people who were still standing there, and left the room.

On the way back, Leon also saw Peggy who was struggling to carry a box of supplies. The girl had a stubborn look on her face, one hand was bandaged and the other hand was around the box. She refused the help of her tall and strong brother behind her and was moving slowly towards her apartment.

This spirit of self-reliance made Leon unable to help but look at it a few more times. He returned to his office, where Amy was sitting at a small desk beside him, handling her work.

Seeing Leon coming back, a sweet smile immediately appeared on her pretty face. She put down her work and brought Leon a glass of iced cola.

  "Boss, you're back."

Leon took the Coke, sat back in his boss chair, turned on the computer, and seeing that there was nothing serious, he started playing a game called "Red Alert".

He took a sip of Coke and said to the secretary:

"When you go down, remember to post a task in the engineering department."

"What mission is it, Boss?" Amy blinked curiously.

"A custom-made prosthetic for the girl named Peggy."

He looked at Amy's smiling face and added:

"This girl was of great help to me in rescuing the survivors from the Polytechnic."

  "She should be rewarded."
