Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 14: Cursed Mark

Was that feeling enough to throw the world on its head, and make me flip sides? No, I had no side other than my own, but it was food for thought.

"What can you tell me of your cursed mark, and where is it on your body?" I asked, and the small woman laid back and lifted her bare foot up to me, revealing a golden tattoo with a barely glowing red mark in the center.

If I had to guess, this mark was a magic circle or something of that nature. Not that I knew anything about it, but books and anime were filled with this kind of crap, so I had many references.

I waited a moment, and then she spoke up. "All I know is that it is human magic, not demon."

Part of me wanted to ask about the difference, but the logical part didn't care. as far as I knew, I didn't know any magic yet, so it was useless information currently.

"So, what happens now?" I asked, gesturing to her binds.

"You kill me, and then they send more," Lyra said plainly, and I lifted an eyebrow.

"This dark whatever isn't going to force you back?" I asked, but the princess shook her head.

"Any demon caught in a human country is as good as dead. There is no need to call us back since we have nowhere to go. If we don't return, then we are considered dead," Lyra explained, and I nodded, moving to my next question.

"Do you think that some of them try hiding in human territory?" I asked, but she shook her head.

"Demons can only eat meat, so any demon hiding would be tracked down. In addition, we demons give off a certain type of magic that humans can track," she explained and I nodded, walking past her to look out the window.

"Last question for now. Since your kind doesn't seem overly powerful, besides your speed, how are you causing this world so much trouble?" I asked, but Lyra didn't hesitate to answer.

"It is our reproduction rate. The average female can give birth every seven days, and up to 50 demon eggs each time. These only take another week to hatch. It would be worse, but because females are forced to reproduce so often, only 1 in 1000 are born females. The last thing is that the more we are forced to reproduce, the weaker the demons that are born," Lyra explained as I looked out the window at people passing by.

Well, I had found out all I wanted to know for now, but now I had another problem. My original plan was to keep them all, and that hadn't really changed. The problem was how to make them all listen to me.

"What will you do with me and my children?" Lyra finally asked, and I turned back around.

"Wait, these are all yours?" I asked in surprise, and she looked up at me with a nod. "So, does that mean they will listen to you?"

"Yes, they are my brood, so they have no choice," Lyra explained, and I nodded and walked back around to stand in front of her.

"What can you do to prove to me that I can trust you? Or is there any way that I can overwrite your current cursed mark?" I asked, and Lyra went silent for a while.

"I can't remove the cursed mark on my own. Only the Dark Sorcerer has that ability. As for proving my trust, I have no reason to betray you. If you can find a way to free me from this mark, I will be in your debt," Lyra replied, her tone earnest.

I shook my head at this. "No, there has to be something binding me to you. While I might be able to extend trust to just you, there is no way I could do all your... children. On top of that, I need to have some kind of assurity to other humans that you are in my control, or I am sure some will try to hunt us. I am sure that some will anyway, but that isn't the point."

The demon princess fell silent for a long time, to the point where I was about to prompt her for an answer when she finally spoke up. "There is a ritual, but it's risky. If you're willing to take that risk, I can guide you through it. It involves breaking the emotional and physical connection of the mark and then using a specific... Actions... To sever the magical link."

I swore her face turned a bit red as she explained, but the moment I asked about the actions, her face went bright red, and she pressed it down to her knees.

"You would have to mate with me, but then I will be connected to you for the rest of our lives. I think that it can break the cursed mark, but I am not sure. What I do now is that the few Demons that did have the mark of love were killed because the cursed mark wouldn't work on them," Lyra explained, I sat down in front of her, but I wasn't looking at her.

Was I really about to consider losing my virginity to this half a person? There was no doubt that she was an adult, regardless of her height, but something felt wrong about this.

Not the doing-it part. I actually wanted to do that, but for some reason, it felt wrong. It was really hard to put my finger on what it was, but something was bothering me.

I guess because I went silent, Lyra took this as a negative reaction. "I am sorry for making the suggestion. A human would never want that kind of thing with a demon, or at least not anymore. There was once a time when we all got along, but it was so long ago that no one remembers."
