46: The Great Organization
After the girls gradually left, Lyon turned his head to look at Natasha and her sister, who was planning to slip away.
From the moment Lyon spoke his first word in Russian, Yelena's face had turned awkward.
She had thought that Superman only spoke English. She hadn't expected that he could also speak Russian.
She had believed that once she regained consciousness, she would be entering a brand-new life.
But instead, she was faced with her first "social death."
At this moment, Yelena just wanted to roll on the ground and disappear from sight.
But when she tried to sneak away, Lyon called out to her.
"Natasha, Yelena, you both stay."
Natasha stopped without any hesitation.
"Ah!.. Um.." Yelena, however, stiffened completely, awkwardly pointing at herself. "Do I have to stay too?"
"I think so," Lyon replied with a smile, deliberately puffing out his chest.
"You were just discussing my muscles, so I thought, maybe I should give you a chance."
"Huh?" Yelena instinctively took a step back, but after hesitating, she actually reached out her right hand. "So... I can really touch it?"
Natasha's face darkened, and she smacked the back of Yelena's head. "What have you been thinking about since you woke up?"
Yelena, clutching her head, looked very aggrieved. "But the boss said I could have a chance..."
She naturally assumed the role of Lyon's underling.
Lyon shook his head speechlessly. How could a girl Yelena's age have so many bizarre thoughts?
He turned to the screen and said, "Jarvis, send the information on the scattered Widow agents around the world to these two."
"Understood."
Natasha and Yelena walked up behind Lyon, looking at the images of people marked all over the world on the screen. They vaguely realized why Lyon had asked them to stay.
"So you want us to lead the other Widows in action?" Natasha asked.
"Exactly," Lyon nodded. "Yelena, you two, as the former and current Black Widow, are the most suitable to become their leaders."
"Huh? Black Widow? But I'm not..." Yelena said, still rubbing the back of her head, full of confusion.
"You're not?" Lyon was taken aback.
In the original timeline, Yelena had surpassed all the records Natasha left behind to become the new Black Widow.
It turned out she wasn't there yet.
Natasha smirked and said, "She was close to succeeding, but I broke those records again a year ago."
Lyon suddenly understood—this was an extension of the butterfly effect.
"Unbelievable! No wonder my training load doubled at that time! Do you know that almost killed me?"
Yelena, frustrated, grabbed her hair in exasperation.
As she spoke, she lunged at Natasha, trying to wrestle her to the ground, but was quickly subdued.
"Lyon, don't mind her. Go ahead and tell us what you want us to do," Natasha said, pinning Yelena down.
"…After this mission is over, you two will lead the others to rescue the Widows marked on the map."
"After administering the suppressant, give them the same choice."
"Those who are willing to join us, bring them to me. For those who aren't, destroy their files."
"Understood. I'll complete the mission as soon as possible." Natasha nodded solemnly, a look of gratitude in her eyes.
Her biggest wish before was to give the other Widow agents a chance at their own lives.
And now, thanks to Lyon, that wish was about to come true.
Natasha felt that she owed this man more and more, and it was becoming almost impossible to repay.
Lyon rested his hands on the table. "But this is just the initial preparation work. After you two complete it, I have a more important mission for you."
"Boss, what mission? Are we going to save the world? Or fight against evil dark forces?"
Even while being pinned down by Natasha, Yelena couldn't help but shout excitedly.
"Shut up!" Natasha twisted her sister's arm, and with a yelp, Yelena admitted defeat.
"Boss, help me! Boss, Natasha is bullying me just because she's older!" she began to cry out, complaining.
Lyon's eyelid twitched. He didn't remember Yelena being this lively in the movies.
"How old is she?" he couldn't help but ask Natasha.
'Wasn't she supposed to be more mature?'
"Born in 1988, she's roughly twenty years old." Natasha clearly remembered her sister's birth date.
"Older than me?" Lyon was stunned and decided to ignore Yelena. This girl was probably just overly excited after being freed from captivity for so long. Best to just leave her be.
"Boss, don't turn away! Look at me! Natasha's bullying me just because she's four years older than me… Ah!" Yelena was once again silenced by Natasha's swift action.
Tears welled up in Yelena's eyes as she pitifully tried to gain sympathy from her boss.
But Lyon only left her with a cold, indifferent back.
Natasha sighed and turned to ask, "Can't you tell us about that mission in advance?"
"There's nothing that needs to be kept secret; the mission is actually very simple."
"All you need to do is have the Black Widows around the world use their respective channels to spread some evidence."
Lyon's face was bathed in the faint blue light of the screen. "Some evidence that a certain evil organization, which should have been wiped out by history, still exists and has taken root in the world."
"What organization?" Natasha's pupils dilated.
"HYDRA," Lyon uttered the words.
"HYDRA? The organization that was supposedly destroyed by Captain America still exists!? Oh my god, are we really going to save the world? This is incredible..." Yelena chimed in again.
Natasha also fixed her gaze on Lyon, waiting for him to reveal more details.
A smile appeared on Lyon's face. "You've heard of an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D., right..."
Over the next few minutes, Lyon detailed the history of HYDRA's resurgence to the two sisters.
And in those few minutes, the sisters felt a profound shock ripple through their hearts.
They had thought that the Red Room was already the most deeply hidden and darkest organization in the world.
But it turned out that there's always a bigger threat.
HYDRA had even managed to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D.!
"This S.H.I.E.L.D. is the biggest cancer in the world!" Natasha, who was originally supposed to be working for S.H.I.E.L.D., said this.
"Yes, you're absolutely right!" Lyon could barely contain the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Looking at the Natasha in the movie who was once Nick Fury's trusted confidante, now showing a stance that Fury should be sent straight to the guillotine, he felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
Ahem, he was still wearing the Superman suit, so he shouldn't have such thoughts.
This was a sin—he'd have to wait until he got home and took off the suit to laugh.
Soon, Natasha escorted Yelena out of the command room.
The expressions on the sisters' faces were completely different.
Natasha's face was solemn, but she was full of fighting spirit.
Believing that her hands were stained with blood, the thing she most wanted to do was save the world and atone for her sins.
Even if it meant sacrificing herself, she felt it was worth it.
Or rather, after going through so much, she had developed a self-destructive tendency, only wanting to do more to make up for her past mistakes before she died.
But Yelena was different—she was incredibly excited, almost bouncing with energy.
As they walked out, she kept chattering about how she was about to become a great hero.
However, regardless of how the two reacted, they both increasingly believed that the organization Lyon was about to establish would be a great one—one that toils in the darkness and serves the light.
But if Lyon could hear their thoughts, he would probably have burst out laughing, slapping the table.
After all, the original intention of establishing the organization was simply to have the Widow agents work better for him.
