Reincarnated One Last Time

Chapter 28: Not a Tough Decision.

Chapter 28: Not a Tough Decision.

In the morning, Levi, Clara, and Otis secretly leave the group of rescue captives to proceed with their plan. After becoming an adept mage, his way of thinking has improved, and he can recall things faster. If before his IQ was average, now he is considered highly gifted.

The only downside is that, even with the new meditation technique from mage Gavin's magic book, it only increases his mana slowly. That means without outside help, it will take him decades or a century, if he can live that long, to break through to master rank.

Not to mention his body strength, which, for some reason, after reaching adept warrior rank, has stagnated. He has asked Clara and Otis about this problem, but both of them are not warriors. Without any solution, he decided to focus on gathering death points.

To advance his mage mind and warrior body any further, it has become harder.

After finding a suitable place to wait, Levi closed his eyes and sat cross-legged near a tree. While Clara, Otis, and the undead protect him.

-

On the tree branch, a raven with a slightly missing feather is watching a group of chubby humans wakes up one by one.

"Where are Sir Levi and others?"

"Maybe they are hunting."

"I think so too."

A few hours later, the group became bored and hungry.

"Why is it taking too long?"

"Be patient during the winter when it is hard to find food."

"My body doesn’t feel too good."

"Maybe you ate too much last night."

"When can we go home? It's freezing here."

While they were talking, they heard a hurried footstep coming toward them. When they thought it was Levi, their eyes were wide.

A gnoll throws his spear at one of the clubby humans, and blood splatters on the white snow. After seeing that their friend has been killed, the human tries to flee, but with their body and speed, it is futile. The group of elite gnolls kills them all without mercy.

Only after their anger subsided did the gnolls realize something. The necromancer that they want to kill is not among them.

"We eat first before we resume the hunt!" Said the eye patch gnoll.

Hearing that the gnolls that haven’t eaten anything since yesterday feast on the corpses. After they are full, they all begin to rest for a while. While resting, they feel something is wrong, but it is too late; they all collapse to the ground.

"Poison." The eye-patched gnoll tries to rescue his tribemate. However, his body feels unsteady and falls to the ground. The last thing he sees is a raven flying down and pecking at the gnoll carcass. He never expected the necromancer to be so cruel as to plant poison inside a human.

If Levi knows what the gnoll is thinking, although it was his idea, the one who put the poison in was not him but Otis. And he has never forced the gnoll to eat a human.

Sacrificing a stranger who is not related to him is not a tough decision for him. As long as he can get the result he wants. In Levi's life dictionary, there is no such word as fighting fair and square.

-

Sheffield City right now is in chaos, and most humans have sought protection inside the army barracks or secret shelter.

Viscount Alfred wanted to escape, but it is too late; the wall has been occupied by monsters. Even right now, he doesn’t know how long he can survive before help comes.

Beside him is the general, who runs away, leaving his soldier near the wall. The Viscount really wanted to beat up this coward after finding out he tried to flee the city.

"General, do you have any idea how to escape?"

"No, the secret tunnel has been collapsed by the monster tide." The general answered. When he notices he can’t win, he is the first person to want to escape using the secret passage, but the entrance has been blocked by rubble.

"What should we do now?"

"Don’t worry, the armory is full of weapons that can last a long time."

"General, we are running out of ammunition and gunpowder!"

"What how?"

The soldier whispers in the general's ear. "General, do you forget about the bribe from the weapon supplier?"

The general's mouth is agape because he remembers it. Now what should he do?

Viscount Alfred leaves with his protector after observing the general reaction. The protectors all have adept rank strength. Even if the era of firearms and bombs manages to defeat the warrior and mage, it is only because they are plagued by numerous internal and external issues. The majority of aristocrats and royals still prefer warriors and mages to protect them.

However, the rebel nation, or Federation, has developed numerous new weapons and has the secret support of many people in other kingdoms. It's like cancer that, if not eradicated, continues to erode the power of monarchy and aristocracy. However, there is nothing they can do because the federation is not weak.

The kingdoms that tried in the past are suddenly confronted with a rebellion within their own kingdom and are forced to withdraw their army from attacking the Federation.

The monster tide from Violet Forest continues to attack the army barrack wall, but thanks to the cannons, musketeers, and archers, the monster's advance is halted. The rain of cannonballs, bullets, and arrows gradually stops after a few hours. The soldier’s sword and spear are the only things keeping the monster from climbing the wall.

While the human soldiers are panicking.

The elderly goblin with a horned headdress saw everything and smiled. The short, green-skinned goblin raises his wrinkled hand, and behind him, a group of minotaurs holding a great sword or war axe moves forward. Their hoof shakes the ground when they walk.

The minotaur jumped forward and landed on the wall. The wall protecting the army barracks is not as tall as the city wall. What happened next was that one swing from the minotaur's great sword, or a war axe, decapitated several soldiers at once.

Blood begins to dye the wall red. Without the soldiers guarding the wall, the monster tide would swarm the wall and open the gate. Once the gate is open, everyone tries to save themselves. The goblins with daggers leaped behind the fleeing soldier and stabbed him to death. With the soldier's strength, it was easy to kill a goblin, but he was too afraid to fight.

The gnolls used their bow and arrow to kill any fleeing humans that they could see. However, in a certain area of the building, a large number of monsters are dead and killed by human warriors and mages that defend the entrance.

"Protect my family and kill any soldiers and monsters that approach!" Viscount Alfred yelled. At first, the soldiers fight alongside their protectors, but some of them try to hide behind them. The general is one of them. The Viscount was determined to kill the general if he survived this ordeal.

The viscount's family members and servants gathered in a corner of the room in fear.

The humans inside the city try to do anything to survive. Near the city gate, the mercenaries are injured and exhausted. On the stone floor, there are many dead bodies lying around. Their leader, the mage who cast the earthquake spell, fainted after depleting his energy to kill the monster.

"Are we going to die?" A woman wearing leather armor slices the goblin's neck.

"Keep fighting; reinforcement will come soon." A man holding a large shield spoke.

While they are fighting not far from the city, a large flying warship comes down from the cloud. The flying warship looks like a sailing ship but is made from metal and equipped with various weapons. There are three pairs of large wings at the side of the hull. A strategic weapon created by humans to combat the monster tide Each kingdom only has several of them, and they will only be used in emergencies. Even the weakest nation or kingdom has one.

"Captain, in five minutes we will arrive at Sheffield City."

"Ready the weapon."

"But captain, what about the civilian?"

"We already received an order from the crown prince."

"Understand."

The captain has no choice but to obey. After the rumor he heard in the capital city this year, the Cirean Kingdom might have a new king. The punishment to disobey the king's decree is death.

On the ground, a mercenary saw something in the sky. At first, he thought it was a bird, but only when that thing got closer did that mercenary yell. "Flying warship, we are safe!"

Hearing that the surviving humans cheer and fight even harder. The monster tide, seeing the large flying warship, begins to cower in fear.

"Captain, the mana cannon is ready."

"Fire!"

The flying warship aims the mana cannons at the city, and a beam of energy pierces the city wall and vaporizes everything. Only masters of rank and above can protect themselves from the attack.

And that is not the end; multiple energy beams come out from other mana cannons.

However, using the weapon is costly due to the use of mana stones. When the mana cannon starts overheating. The people quickly poured water on it to cool it down.

Seeing the indiscriminate attack, the people who thought they were safe are in despair.
