Chapter 35: Demonic Beast.

 

In a secluded place behind a large rock and trees, there is a lake near the river. A group of martial artists has gathered.

 

"Is this the place?" Asked the scholarly man. Without a guide, it will be impossible to find this lake.

 

"Yes, and the dragon usually returns here during the night."

 

"Good, if we manage to kill the dragon, we shall reward you."

 

"Thank you." After a few pleasantries, the young man leaves the place. Goa Toa, after faraway, stops smiling and curses. "Stingy bastard." Normally, you need to pay after receiving the information. "I hope nothing bad will happen to Senior." Although he knew Levi was strong, he was still worried.

 

"Should I kill him?" The burly man takes out his saber. If other people find out about the dragon, it will be troublesome, and the dead man can’t speak.

A woman with hair bun is bored behind the tree. She suddenly becomes alert after hearing a noise and takes out her sword. That noise is coming closer, after a while, she can see the silhouette of a turtle walking toward her. "You scared me." The woman with hair bun sighs with relief. When he opens her eyes again, she sees a large creature and a pair of glowing vertical eyes staring at her. The last thing she sees is a mouth full of sharp teeth.

 

"AAAHHHH!"

 

The other heard their companion scream and ran out of hiding, sprinting toward the scream. However, when they arrive, there is no one there.

 

"Where is she?" The scholarly man looks around while taking out his sword.

 

"I smell blood." The burly man squatted down and touches the ground, and he can smell blood on it.

 

"I think we should return to the city and ask for reinforcement."

 

"Yes, I agreed."

 

The other felt something was not right and wanted to leave the place.

 

"Do you want to leave your comrade? She might be alive!"

 

"He is right; we don’t see her body here."

 

"Who is doing this?"

 

While they were discussing who was the culprit, something flew in the air.

 

"Dodge!" The burly man sensed something and shouted. But it was too late; one of the martial artists' bodies had been pierced by something.

 

The man can feel something go through his body before collapsing to the ground.

 

The remaining martial artist remains vigilant and looks in the direction where the object is coming from.

 

"We are from the Martial Arts Alliance academy; if you dare to harm us, you will be hunted down by the Martial Arts Alliance!"

 

Silence, there is no reply. While the martial artists try to locate the attacker.

 

More projectiles are coming from the woods because of the darkness; it’s hard to see. This time, they are prepared and try to block the incoming attack.

 

When the attack hit the sword, the scholarly man stepped back several steps and almost fell to the ground. The projectile splashed and soaked him. "Water?" He is puzzled that the projectile is made from water. He has heard about a martial artist in the cold north who can condense their qi and combine it with ice elements to launch a sharp ice spike. But he had never seen any martial artist use water to attack at long range.

 

The burly man also manages to block the attack and is drenched with water. But one of them is not so lucky and gets hit on his hand, causing blood spurts.

 

"Everyone come closer!"

 

After several more attacks, the woods became silent again. However, most of the martial artists are either injured or dead. There are only two people who manage to avoid injury.

 

"What should we do now?" They will die if nothing is done, asked the burly man.

 

"We need to run in different directions; the ones that survive need to report this to the Martial Arts Alliance."

 

The surviving martial artists agreed.

 

"Now!"

 

The martial artist sprints in different directions to flee.

 

The burly man, while running, can hear the screams of his comrades. But he does not stop and keeps running.

 

After a long run, he stops to rest. He hasn’t heard any more screams; either they managed to escape or have already been killed by the attacker.

 

"Damn it." The burly man cursed; he doesn’t know who is attacking them. "After I find out who you are, I will cut your body into a million pieces."

 

"You can try."

 

The burly man quickly stood up and leaped to the front to keep his distance from the voice coming from behind him.

 

What he saw was a creature larger than a horse carriage. Thanks to the moonlight, he can roughly see the features of the creature. A turtle body with spikes and a serpentine-like neck, and a dragon head without a horn.

 

"Who are you?" The burly man pointed her saber toward the dragon.

 

Levi gazes at the nervous, burly man's reaction. Everything is according to plan; he ordered Goa Toa to tell them about his hiding place and kill them. Too bad a few of them managed to escape.

 

Without wasting time, Levi begins to fight the burly man in close combat. He wants to test how strong his body is compared to martial artists. He had been secretly listening to their conversation and found out the burly man is considered a second-class martial artist.

 

As time goes by, the burly man is getting tired and injured. Levi also suffers some injuries because, because of his large size, it’s hard to dodge an attack. However, thanks to his hard scales, his damage is minimal.

 

After a while, Levi swipes his tail, and the burly man gets thrown into a tree. He opens his mouth wide and swallows the burly man whole. Although there was some resistance, it was futile. Even without using the evolution point, his body keeps growing.

 

Levi grinned. He already has enough evolution points to become an adolescent dragon turtle. However, it was a waste to let them escape. The amount of evolution that he got from eating martial artists is five to tenfold more than that of a thug.

 

His body shrank and transformed into a turtle to chase the remaining martial artists. On the forest floor, there is a fast, blurry creature moving. If people saw it, they would never think it was a turtle.

On top of the tree, a pair of feline eyes are observing the fight between martial artists and a dragon. After that, the humans ran in a different direction. The dragon begins to chase them.

 

"Finally, I can exact my vengeance." A large black leopard leaps from a tree, his body gradually transforming into a humanoid figure with a leopard head. This group of humans hunted him down and injured him a few weeks ago. Fortunately, he is able to flee.

 

While waiting for the martial artist to approach, the black leopard's claw grew long and sharp. When a human walks past a tree, a headless body runs for several steps before collapsing to the ground.

 

A humanoid black leopard emerges from behind a tree, holding a bloody human head with its eyes open. Despite the fact that demonic beast is stronger than a human, they are fewer in number than humans, and not all beasts can become demonic beasts.

 

The humanoid black leopard reverts to his beast form, sniffing the air. He then looks in a specific direction and begins to sprint.

 

"I am almost there." Running through the woods is the scholarly man; right now he looks terrible. He never thought their group had been targeted by someone. The only suspect in his mind is the unorthodox faction that has started making a move. "I need to report this to the academy, not the alliance."

 

While he is running, suddenly a large creature pounces on him. With quick reflexes, he manages to dodge the attack by rolling on the ground.

 

After standing up and drawing his sword. He sees a familiar creature that his group tried to kill but escaped from their encirclement.

 

"Demonic Leopard!"

 

"Yes, we meet again, just like promised, but this time I will kill you." The black leopard's body transforms into a humanoid form with the leopard's head. His claw grew long and sharp, ready to attack.

 

"Are you the one that is attacking us?"

 

"No, and yes." After answering, the demonic leopard snarl and dashes toward the scholarly man.
