Chapter 37: Human Heart.

What the man doesn’t realize is that there is a slim-looking man following from behind. "It looks like we have a traitor." He grins before disappearing into the crowds.

The next morning, dozens of black-clad men gathered.

 

"Before we begin, is there any problem?"

 

"Yes." A slim man with a black cloth covering his mouth spoke.

 

"What is the problem?"

 

"We have a traitor." After saying that, the rest of the black-clad men kept their distance from each other. It’s not unheard of if there is a traitor in an assassin organization. However, it was rare because most of the assassins were raised at a young age and had been brainwashed.

 

"Who?"

 

"Him." The slim man pointed at the man in front of him.

 

"I am innocent." The man said calmly, "Don’t show any reaction.

 

"Do you have any proof?" Asked the leader of the black-clad man.

 

"I saw him enter the Wu family residence."

 

"You must be mistaken." The man doesn’t even falter about the accusation.

 

Seeing that the other also begins to calm down, there must be a mistake.

 

"You must be right." After saying that, the slim man throws a sharp dagger. However, the man is already prepared to flee and dodge the attack.

 

When he thought he was safe, another attack came from behind; this time he couldn’t dodge in time. A flying dagger pierces his body, and blood is sprayed while the man falls to the ground dead.

 

"Why did you start attacking first? "We were supposed to persuade him to surrender." Asked the leader while checking his former comrade's corpse and retrieving his dagger.

 

"It will be hard to persuade and capture him alive. We just need to change our route." The slim man answered nonchalantly.

 

"Let’s go." After making sure the traitor is dead, the assassin's leader enters the woods.

 

The other assassins are tense and puzzled because they don’t know what is going on. Only after they received the order did they begin to calm down. The assassin leader's decision is correct because, inside the forest, the soldiers are preparing to ambush the assassin if they use the original path.

Half an hour later, the group of assassins arrives at their destination. However, they don’t see anyone.

 

"Are you sure this is the place?"

 

"Yes."

 

"Search the area and come back here."

 

After a while, they all come back. "Sir, I found a lake not far from here."

 

The lake is surrounded by large rocks and trees, and because of that, most people can see it from far away.

 

"This must be the place to prepare for an ambush."

 

When the assassin finds a place to hide. A turtle head emerges from the water and observes the black-clad man. Looking at their appearance, they must be the assassins that Wu Yi talks about. "It looks like my food delivery has arrived."

 

‘After I capture her, I will rip her clothes off and...' The slim man is fantasizing about what to do after capturing Wu Yi when he suddenly feels a sharp pain in his body. Looking down, he can see blood mixed with water flowing down from his body.

"There must be something happening at the lake." Gao Tao spoke. The last time he felt like this was when he was ordered by Levi to bring the martial artist to the lake.

 

After some discussion, Yu Su and the protector moved the lake while protecting Wu Yi in the middle. Goa Toa followed them from behind.

 

When they arrived at the lake, a large dragon turtle consumed a black-clad man whole. On the land, there are many corpses with missing limbs or holes in their bodies scattered near the lake.

Levi notices a group of nervous humans with their hands on the sword handle after finishing eating the corpses.

They all shook their heads. After seeing Levi consume the corpses, they have lost their appetite.

 

"Too bad." Levi grinned, showing his sharp, bloody teeth. They take a few steps back, and some of them take out their weapons, trembling. From their perspective, the dragon is terrifying.

 

Only after Gao Tao ensures everyone everything is fine does everyone gradually calm down. But they are still wary.

Wu family's Chinese courtyard house inside a study room, an elderly man with white hair and a beard is writing something using a fur brush. While a female servant is grinding the black ink.

 

A middle-aged steward enters the room and speaks. "Patriarch, the assassins didn’t show up."

 

The elderly man gives a handshake and gazes at the steward, "How about my granddaughter?" Although he looks fine on the outside, inside he is furious and nervous.

 

"Our man is heading toward the lake to investigate."

"Yes." The steward leaves the room.

 

The elderly man is the Wu Patriarch, Wu Yi's grandfather. "I am getting old." He rubs his eyes.

 

"Patriarch, don’t worry, Yu Su and others are with the young miss." Said the female servant while filling the teacup.
