Chapter 154: Failed
The male elf immediately headed to the man and told him all about Albert and the information he had received earlier.
The elves' expressions became pale when they heard about Albert's identity. After all, it just put more credibility in Albert's words.
However, some of them still denied Albert's identity as there was no proof regarding their connections. Albert might be someone who used this fake identity to threaten them.
So, the man thought for a moment and walked to Albert, asking, "May I ask for the proof of your connection with her Majesty Lilith?"
"There's nothing I can show you." Albert shook his head. "I come here not on behalf of the kingdom. I originally planned to hunt some monsters here until I found a few traces of volcanic eruptions.
"Instead of letting you die without knowing anything, it's better for me to come and tell you."
When he heard Albert's explanation, he thought that Albert might indeed have some insight into this occurrence. The kingdom might know about it, but because they were a runaway tribe and had been living in seclusion like this, they didn't have the knowledge regarding this incident.
While he was thinking, another elf rose from the ground and snorted. "Hmph. What relationship? If you can't even prove your relationship, there's no reason for us to believe you. Volcanic eruption? This is the anger of Demon God. You dare to say a disaster is the same as the anger of the Demon God? You're insane."
Shella tilted her head in confusion, not understanding why this man actually said all this. From her point of view, Albert's explanation was already enough for them to understand that this information was true.
After a while, she thought she had overestimated the knowledge the elves had. Other than Magic and Archery, they might not be as advanced as them in terms of knowledge.
"Although I want to believe you as well, I still can't understand one thing." The man raised a question while pointing at the volcano. "Why would the volcano erupt? We've been here for five generations, and not a single time has the volcano exploded…
"You should know that we have a pretty long lifespan, so we have witnessed so many things. All this time, the volcano has never released such smoke. And all of a sudden, it does something like this."
Albert scratched the back of his head. "To be honest, this is not my expertise as well. However, with my limited knowledge, I believe this is just the volcano awakening. It has been in slumber for so long, and it's going to wake up. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I believe the volcano is going to erupt."
"You are not even an expert, and you dare to claim something like this? Are you tricking us to force us out of this forest?" The previous elf that antagonized Albert started his ranting again.
Shella pointed at the elf and said, "If you're only trying to hinder the conversation, it's better to stay quiet. My master has been humble and calmly explaining all this to you. Yet, you're provoking us all this time."
The leader raised his hand and stopped Shella. "Although I appreciate your action, I just can't believe everything you said. First of all, we don't know anything about you. It's true that there is something going on with the volcano. But we don't have any concrete evidence as well to prove that your information is right.
"You surely won't believe a stranger that suddenly intrudes on your territory, right? No matter how logical you are, we are still suspicious of you.
"Second, you claim to have a relationship with the current succubus queen, yet don't bring out any proof. If you can provide such proof, it's easy for us to believe you. After all, Her Majesty will be the one confirming your identity.
"Third, you're not an expert in this, so there is also a chance that you're wrong. If you can provide us with some written documents or anything, we can somehow believe you.
"That's why I apologize for my people's rude behavior, but please know that you two are strangers that randomly came to our village. Normally, we would capture those who trespass, but since you give us some information, we will try to accept your information and won't pursue you.
"However, if our village is known by others, we won't hesitate to retaliate. And the first person we will hunt down is you.
"This is the limit to what I can accept in this situation." The man let out a long sigh and extended his hand. "I apologize, but I need to ask you to leave this village."
The man's explanation was quite understandable. Although Albert's information was relevant to this incident, they had no way to prove what Albert said was the truth or not, especially since Albert couldn't prove anything to them from his identity to the information. It was hard for them to take in his words blindly.
Albert thought for a moment and nodded. "In that case, we'll leave. Anyway, we'll remain in this area for two weeks. We won't bother you during this time.
"Still, please write this in your heart… Just this one. When you see a huge amount of materials spewed out of the mountain along with a high ash cloud, I hope you can bring all the people here away… If possible, as far as you can from the volcano. You don't need to believe me because when this happens, you'll believe my words," said Albert with a calm expression, knowing that he couldn't convince them.
"I understand. Thank you for your warning." The man nodded. Since this was a weird occurrence, he just absorbed everything they said. Only when it was proven would he believe in them.
"Alright." Albert turned around and leaped away as Shella followed him without saying anything.
She simply looked at Albert's back, knowing the generosity of her master. Albert had done his best in preventing deaths, so any deaths that would occur from this point on were on the elf chief's hands.
"Still, they're indeed youthful, beautiful and handsome, and have slender bodies." Albert nodded with an observant look.
"Master… Are you, by any chance, horny?"
"No.. It's just a simple admiration."
