Chapter 211: Debris Spikes
Within the lair, loud explosions reverberated back and forth, each blast echoing off the rocky walls as the battle reached its crescendo.
The ground trembled under the weight of each behemoth's charge, creating a cacophony of chaotic sounds that filled the lair.
Amidst the turmoil, Jeff's mighty axe cleaved through the air with relentless force, striking the vulnerable joints of the young behemoths.
Each blow landed with a resounding impact, causing the young creatures to stagger and bellow in pain.
"Lady Wraith, I'll keep them at bay, so be at ease when casting your spells," Jeff shouted, taking on the duty of a tank and denying the Behemoth from getting close to her.
"Rest assured, Jeff. I won't let them get a chance to harm you either." Carmen responded, her Elementalists conjuring fireballs and icy blasts, added to the tumult with bursts of magical energy.
Her spells found their marks with precision, further exacerbating the young behemoths' anguish as they struggled against the onslaught.
Their painful cries and helplessness were echoed throughout the lair, clearly anticipating their parents to come to their rescue. Their defenses were tough, and the damage taken wasn't enough to cause them to feel danger, but it was still painful nonetheless.
Never once had they experienced such excruciating pain from others, given their parents were always the ones to venture out to bring food back.
"Their scales are too hard to penetrate." Carmen knitted her brows, finding her spells to be a futile effort. She then glanced at the attack that Jeff dealt, and the comparison nearly made her feel depressed.
Each strike from Jeff managed to scrape off the tough scales, with some even able to penetrate through the flesh of the young Behemoth, causing them to trample rapidly everywhere in response to the pain.
"Don't worry about penetrating their scales, Lady Wraith," Jeff shouted, taking another large swing at the young Behemoth that was trampling all over the place.
"Leave it to me to cleave their scales off and you can attack their open flesh later on."
'Not bad,' Xu Feng commented silently. Initially, he wondered if he needed to take the command and instruct them in battle as well.
After all, he did propose to be the commander and lead the team.
However, that could honestly be considered over when he made the separation of the battle.
Although there wasn't an official command from him, it was quite obvious that he planned on leaving the young Behemoths for them to deal with.
As for the adults trapped on the other side, just his positioning alone was enough to inform them that he planned on handling it.
Sometimes, there was just a basic understanding among team members that one didn't need to be specific.
'They should be fine, with Jeff tanking both young Behemoths simultaneously.' Xu Feng concluded after witnessing their cooperation and how Jeff was handling the situation.
"Alright, I should focus on these adults rampaging." He muttered, ordering the Abyssal Phantom.
The Abyssal Phantom, with its dark, amorphous form, silently slithered up the walls and towards the ceiling.
As the Abyssal Phantom reached the ceiling, it began to dismantle the weakened debris spikes with calculated precision.
Each movement was deliberate, ensuring that when the spikes fell, they would create an even more formidable barrier against the adult Behemoths.
Xu Feng watched intently, ready to make any necessary adjustments.
Meanwhile, the adult Behemoths continued to roar in frustration on the other side, their powerful bodies repeatedly slamming into the barrier. The ground beneath Xu Feng's feet vibrated with each impact, a constant reminder of the impending threat.
'Tsk, these massive monsters are really annoying.' Xu Feng clicked his tongue, feeling quite displeased by the tremor.
Since he doesn't have much of an offensive power at the moment, he could only make do with whatever the environment had to offer. Hence, he couldn't outright clash with the adult Behemoths.
Taking a deep breath, Xu Feng stopped thinking over his limited offensive power and patiently waited for the adults to shatter the so-called debris wall.
Shortly after the debris wall started crumbling, two infuriated adult Behemoths emerged from within, ready to demolish anything or anyone in its path.
With their piercing eyes, the first person they noticed was Xu Feng, who calmly waved his hand as if he was greeting them with a hello.
GROWL!
They roared thunderously as they charged toward Xu Feng, clearly wanting to squash the latter into a paste.
"Damn, how rude are you." Xu Feng adjusted his glasses, unafraid of their advancement.
As Xu Feng remained composed, the adult Behemoths swiftly closed the distance between them.
However, right at this moment, the Abyssal Phantom cut off the debris spikes, sending them plummeting down.
The timing was perfect.
The falling spikes crashed directly onto the charging Behemoths, piercing their thick hides and causing them to howl in pain. The sudden attack halted their momentum, and the Behemoths staggered, their roars now mixed with pained cries as they struggled to dislodge the sharp debris.
"Whoops, how come there's a debris spike falling?" Xu Feng gasped, taking a few steps back. "I better leave you all to it and avoid getting hit."
Fuming, the adult Behemoths ignored the bleeding wounds as they staggered to chase after Xu Feng.
They refused to believe random spikes would fall upon them at such a time. Thus, the person in front of them was without a doubt, the culprit of their injuries.
Suddenly, they heard another painful cry from afar. Turning, they noticed their younglings were beaten down ferociously. Experience tales with m v|l e'm,p y r
Angered, they wished for nothing more than to eradicate and stomp these invaders to death.
Alas, before they could even unleash a powerful moveset, Xu Feng's Scared Fire happened to be launched right at their eyes.
Given they were distracted by their youngling's cries for help, they couldn't react in time.
BAM!
The fire landed precisely on their pupil, causing unimaginable pain as they stomped the ground repeatedly, seemingly hoping to minimize the pain.
"Now, Abyssal Phantom!" Xu Feng subsequently commanded with a cold expression on his face.
