Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Thieves Den
Beasts of different kinds kept destroying and tearing the Grotto Heaven, killing and destroying anything that seemed useful.
Of course, they couldn't harm the Immemorial Beast Limbs or his head, as Reckless Savage left a scent that prevents any beast from trying to touch it, as they see it as taken territory.
Ning Zu on the other hand was still standing in his place, hatred feeling his heart as a Gu inside his aperture started to change.
The Hatred was immense, clouded in deep killing intent.
Only one thing was on his mind.
'Kill! Kill! Kill!'
Ning Zu was filled with immense hatred towards Reckless Savage
When Ning Zu was still only three hundred years old, he heard about the tails of Reckless Savage's inheritance there.
Ning Zu, who was interested in talking to a legend like that, went to his grave despite it being full of chaos in hopes of having a conversation with him.
But Ning Zu at that time wasn't the Ning Zu we know, he had no idea about what Chaos even was.
As soon as his body touched the fire, he felt pain like he never felt before, driving him crazy for days.
Sure enough, with his human path methods, he set himself free from it, leaving the graveyard in a deplorable state.
He planned to leave the Western Desert entirely, only for Reckless Savage's will to contact him in Treasure Yellow Heaven, asking him to come to claim its master's inheritance that was deep underground.
Ning Zu of course didn't believe it, but after the will showed proof that he couldn't refute, he went back in.
For a hundred years, Ning Zu kept trying to go farther, living in pure hell.
Most of it was spent trying not to die in the Chaos, he lost his mind so many times that if he didn't have an Emotion path inheritance he found, he would have died there.
After all that suffering, Ning Zu finally reached his destination, where Reckless Savage's body was lying, bathed in Chaos, while a while was towering above it.
Ning Zu was hurt, looking like someone who never touched food since the day he was born.
Yet, he was excited to finally talk to a venerable, even if it was only their will.
However, before he could even ask for a conversation, the will kicked him out.
What was the reason you might ask?
Well, it was because Ning Zu didn't reach the Will's standards, as he was quite weak for it.
Reckless Savage always believed that a man should be muscular and fit, believing himself to be the pinnacle of that form.
Sadly, after a hundred years of being bathed in Chaos, Ning Zu looked nothing like what the will wanted.
Ning Zu was confused and angry, he wasted a hundred years for that inheritance and for that conversation, only for him to not get anything.
He contacted the will, who laughed in his face, saying that there was nothing to take.
His master already left everything behind before coming here, even his attainment and Dao marks, even if there was something to get from him, it was already consumed by the chaos.
Ning Zu went ballistic, contacting the will and swearing that he will get revenge.
The will just laughed, jumping into the Chaos and leaving Ning Zu yelling in Treasure Yellow Heaven all by himself like a maniac.
Some Gu Immortals tried to record him, but his killing intent prevented them from doing so.
Ning Zu was then known as the Unluckiest Immortal.
Sure, it was known that Demonic Gu masters may leave an inheritance only for the inheritor to find nothing.
But to spend a hundred years trying to claim it, while suffering with every step only to get nothing, was just too much.
Later in Ning Zu's life, he forgot about it, learning from experience and becoming a better version of himself, forgetting that experience after the years.
But after seeing the Spirit that looked just like the Venerable, Ning Zu lost it.
Only killing was on his mind now, with his heart being full of hatred.
The Gu that was feeding on this hate finally reached its breaking point, surrounding itself in a dark light before
Pop
With that, the Hatred Gu reached rank 5!
Just then, a Desolated Boar came charging at Ning Zu.
Ning Zu jumped in the air, activating a killer move on instincts.
Mortal Killer Move-Hateful Blood!
Using the Hate Gu, Blood Eating Gu and multiple other Gu, Ning Zu delivered a devastating punch to the Boar's head, crushing its skull before he began drinking the Boar's blood like a barbarian.
Ning Zu's attack was extremely powerful for a mortal killer move, that's because it was multiplied using the Dao marks on his body.
Normally, a mortal could only have 850 Dao marks on their body.
That's the limit.
But someone found a way to break that limit.
It was Limitless Demon Venerable!
In his Dao-seeking research, he found out that anyone who possesses an extreme physique can have ten times the maximum number of Dao marks possible, as long as the Dao marks are compatible with the physique.
Making the maximum number of Dao marks for them reach 8500!
Ning Zu however didn't just stop at that.
Previously, he went through unbelievable pain as food path Dao marks were coursing through his body, and now, that paid off.
As of this moment, Ning Zu's veins, blood and muscles were all flowing with food path Dao marks, making him have exactly 9500 food path Dao marks!
To a mortal this would sound amazing, to an immortal this would sound like bullshit.
9500 Dao marks were no easy thing to achieve, even rank 6 immortals who went through all their tribulations could only have 9250 imprinted Dao marks, that's not counting just their main path's Dao marks but their total Dao marks from every tribulation and calamity.
Yet Ning Zu surpassed that.
Someone else might be proud of their achievements, as they have achieved something unbelievable.
This wasn't how Ning Zu felt though, he felt nothing at achievement.
That's because Ning Zu knows that he is still a joke next to Limitless, who possessed the same number of Dao marks as a rank 8 immortal after he just ascended to rank 8.
Ning Zu finished drinking the blood out of the Boar, not leaving a single drop.
With his heart still full of hate, he activated a new killer move that he made on the spot.
Immortal Killer Move-A Gluttonous Rage!
Ink surrounded Ning Zu's body, shaping it into an armor made of Dragon heads with massive mouths and no eyes.
Another beast jumped at Ning Zu, only to be cut to pieces by him in seconds, getting all of his body eaten by the armor, as it spits only his bones.
Most beasts became sacred at the sight, but a Grey Monkey King didn't like what he was seeing.
Grey Monkeys were a desolated type of beasts that were revengeful, so seeing Ning Zu kill another beast like that made it angry.
Ning Zu jumped to where the beast was, ready to kill too, only for him to get sent back to where he came from with a single punch.
The power behind that punch made him realize that this beast was now at the level of an Ancient Desolated Beast!
He tried to get up, only to be planted into the ground with another punch, breaking the armor.
With no armor left, Ning Zu used a Wind Eater Gu, giving him wings that used the wind to become faster.
The beast left him no time though, punching him with an even greater strength, breaking his wings and his bones at the same time.
Looking at his flying body, the Grey Monkey King was just waiting for the moment Ning Zu was close to the ground so he could finish him off.
'No…Not yet!' Ning Zu screamed in his mind, not willing to die yet, not with the spirit that he wanted to see suffer still away.
He wants to see the look on its face when it sees the whole Grotto Heaven in shambles.
Suddenly, a black hole opened, taking Ning Zu somewhere else.
On the other side of the hole was another Grotto Heaven with a rank 6 Gu immortal excepting an earthly calamity, only for Ning Zu to show up instead.
"Huh, hey you there! You alright!?"
The Immortal had a red crack on his face, signifying he's a blood path immortal.
Despite their terrible reputation in the Gu world, this immortal here has never stepped out of the Grotto Heaven, still seeing it as his word.
So when he saw a mortal almost dying, his first thought was to help.
The Immortal grabbed Ning Zu and activated a healing type Gu.
Ning Zu's bones started to mend as his blood flow became better, letting the Dao marks in them travel more freely.
Opening his eyes, Ning Zu saw the Immortal who was worried about his safety.
Yet, despite having his eyes open, only one thing was on Ning Zu's mind.
And that is to kill!
If something is standing before him? Kill! If something is in his way? Kill! Is it an animal? A human? A spirit? Kill!
Nothing will stop Ning Zu from having his revenge.
Ning Zu pulled out a sword out of nowhere, slashing the immortal.
The immortal had no harm on his body, but he dropped dead.
That's because Ning Zu's sword was the Soul Eating Gu, a dangerous weapon that targets the soul of the enemy.
Now, there was nothing inside the immortal, as he was now nothing but a dead body.
Before the poor man's aperture can absorb heaven and earth Qi, Ning Zu tore it with his mouth, devouring all of it.
He didn't stop there, Ning Zu continued eating, using the Eat Gu the whole time.
While he was doing that, Guardian Hua dropped the storage Gu that stored the Food path variant human prototype in a faraway lake without Ning Zu noticing, as he was too busy tearing the man's body.
Leaving only his lower body with some of his bones still intact, Ning Zu activated the Wind Eating Gu and flew away, jumping right back to the Grotto Heaven.
As soon as he spotted the Grey Monkey, he opened his mouth, letting all the Dao marks stored inside the Crystal Purple Stomach Gu.
The Gu could store anything in it as long as it was not alive, so this whole time, Ning Zu was using the Eating Gu to store blood Dao marks inside it.
Now, he will give it all to the Grey Monkey.
A red blast that matched Ning Zu's eyes shot out, hitting the Grey Monkey King without it even realizing what happened.
The Ancient Desolated beast blew to pieces, dying at the hands of a mortal.
Ning Zu flew back down, coughing up blood.
'This beast has only become an Ancient Desolated Beast recently, if it had any immortal Gu, I would have been done for.'
Thinking about it now, driving the spirit away was a dumb idea.
But Ning Zu's lust for revenge was stronger than any common sense now, he was a demonic cultivator, someone who takes risks just for the thrill.
So what if he dies? He isn't afraid of Death, if not for the promises he has to keep, he would have killed himself long ago.
Just then, he felt a shiver that made him sick.
Ning Zu tried to move, but his body was still in place, surrounded by chains that appeared from thin air.
Before he could try anything, his back was pierced from behind.
It was a Blade Rhinoceros who did that, a Desolated beast known for enjoying the suffering of its victims.
It started moving its head, hurting Ning Zu even more, who couldn't even move a muscle.
While Ning Zu was on death's door again, his attainment in rule path came in handy, as he felt the Gu that enabled his movement.
He could feel it, it was in the throat of the Blade Rhinoceros, helping the beast.
Ning Zu, holding to life with a strand of hair, smiled.
The Immortal Gu that was used was a rank 6 Gu, meaning…
The Blue Lotus mark on him activated, helping him refine the Gu immediately.
The chains disappeared at that moment, reappearing on the Blade Rhinoceros this time.
'Ahaha, what a splendid surprise.'
Despite his bad luck, Ning Zu still managed to survive while gaining benefits.
Even if your luck is bad, as long as you're strong enough, you can still gain benefits.
Guardian Tang cut the horn of the Blade Rhinoceros, dropping it with Ning Zu to the ground, who removed it and pierced the throat of the beast with it instead, killing it.
Ning Zu then pulled the Gu out, feeling the fragility of this Gu.
'I don't have much immortal essence left, but that's alright, I won't need much.'
Ning Zu looked back at the sky, seeing the spirit who just come back, this time without a hand and an eye.
He smirked, happy he saw the black holes merging into two big holes.
The Spirit on the other hand was in horror, not knowing what to do.
Heaven left it no time to do so, letting in multiple Ghost hands out.
The Grotto Heaven was now connected to a place Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable left behind before his disappearance.
It was known as Thieves Dens, an artificial secluded domain of heaven and earth.
If someone was stolen from you there, forget about it, as even the venerable's tried to open it but failed.
It was made entirely out of Ghost's hands, stealing anything valuable.
And now, it was going to take everything from this Grotto Heaven.
