Rise To The Top In Ben 10

Chapter 4: The Strange Circus

Ned spent the rest of the morning exploring the city, trying to figure out the system and its missions. He got a few more 'find' missions, which led him to a broken watch, a can of paint, and an old tire. The rewards were always small, a bit of EXP here and there, and a random item, which was mostly useless junk. But he didn't mind. Each mission made him feel like he was getting stronger, bit by bit. He was now Level 6, with noticeably more speed, endurance, and a little bit of strength.

He was currently sitting on the rooftop of an abandoned building, overlooking a park. The sun was shining, and for once, he felt at peace. The system was quiet, no new missions popping up, which he guessed was a good thing.

He saw a poster plastered on the side of a building across the park, it had very vibrant colors and looked a bit out of place. He squinted, trying to read the words. "Zombozo's Circus of Freaks! Coming to Town!" He rolled his eyes. ''Freaks? Seriously?'' He noticed the poster was new, the colors were too shiny for it to be more than a few days old.

The poster depicted a strange-looking clown with a wide, sinister grin, with huge red hair that looked like some kind of fire, and his eyes were also red, the colors of the poster made him look even more menacing. He was surrounded by drawings of other equally bizarre creatures. The whole thing had a weird, unsettling vibe.

'Circus, huh? I haven't seen a circus in ages,' he thought. He was curious, even if the poster creeped him out a little. He had seen the circus when he was younger, before he lived on the streets. He didn't remember much of it, but he did remember feeling happy and excited for it.

He looked at the poster more carefully. There was a small paragraph at the bottom, written in messy handwriting. It said the circus was opening that evening in a field just outside of the city limits. He had never been outside the city, but he knew the general direction.

He pulled out the rusty key from his pocket again. "I wonder what it is for?" he thought, looking at the key. He had tried it on several locks he found throughout the day, but nothing seemed to fit.

He decided to put it away and focused on the city. He watched people go by, all with their own lives and problems. He wondered what they thought of people like him.

The day slowly turned into evening, the sky getting darker by the minute. Ned felt a pull towards the circus. He didn't know why, but he felt like he needed to see it for himself, maybe see something different for once. The system was still quiet, and he felt a bit bored. 'Maybe this circus thing will be entertaining.'

He found a path out of the city, it was just a dirt road, but it was still a road. He followed it until he reached a large field. The circus tent was huge, it was as tall as a building and it was even more unsettling than the poster. It had the same vibrant colors, and the clowns were all over the place, looking like they were moving from one place to another. The air was filled with strange music and laughter, which gave him a mixed feeling, he was curious but scared at the same time.

He walked closer, drawn in by the weirdness of it all. He saw other people, families and teenagers, entering the circus. They all seemed excited, oblivious to the strange vibes. He joined the crowd, moving into the tent.

The inside of the tent was even stranger than the outside. The lights were flickering, the air smelled of popcorn and something sweet and sickly, and there were clowns everywhere, laughing and doing tricks, some of the clowns were small, others were tall, he was even able to see two clowns that seemed to be some kind of robot, with their joints making strange sounds. They looked at him, but quickly went back to whatever they were doing.

He watched them, his eyes wide with a mix of fascination and unease. "This is… something," he muttered to himself. He was glad he went, it was a strange sight and he had something new to see, to experience. He had a feeling that this was only the beginning of something.
