Ron’s Journey Through Remnant

Chapter 11: 11- First class and lesson

Ron was the first to wake up, methodically starting the day with a sense of purpose. His team, groggy but willing, stirred as he moved around the dorm.

[Gaster]: Ron, can you tell me the hour?

Ron glanced at the clock mounted on the wall and replied, still adjusting to the early morning.

[Ron]: It's 6:27. We still have time before class at 9:00.

[Gaster]: (raising an eyebrow) Then why have you woken us up?

Ron gestured towards the dorm.

[Ron]: We need to clean and decorate our dorm with some essentials.

[Gaster]: (curious) Like?

[Ron]: (enthusiastically) Like a small kitchen, a lab or workshop, and maybe some fresh paint for the walls.

[Gaster]: (nodding) Well, let's get started then.

[One hour later]

The dorm had transformed significantly. The once plain room was now vibrant and functional. The centerpiece was a three-story bunk bed, with Ron opting to sleep on the ceiling for a bit of personal space. The kitchen and lab area were well-equipped, featuring a coffee machine—a nod to Gaster's love for dark coffee—and various tools and appliances for cooking and experimentation.

Adjacent to the kitchen was a small workshop, stocked with various tools and supplies for crafting and repairs. A hologram TV hung on the wall, ready for entertainment and information. The walls were adorned with posters and pictures, reflecting their personalities and past experiences. One notable poster was of Gaster with his followers in a lab setting, while another showcased Maple with the Maple Tree Guild, adding a personal touch to their new home.

The room exuded a welcoming, organized chaos, with each corner thoughtfully designed to cater to their needs and interests.

[Ron]: (sitting back and surveying the room) And done.

Gaster took in the new environment, expressing approval and surprise at how well everything came together.

[Ron]: well I'm going to wake the other teams up don't burn the room

Ron exited the dorm and started knocking on the dorms of team RWBY and JNPR and after that, he returned to his team dorm.

[Ron]: (exasperated) I was out for only ten minutes!

Ron burst into the dorm, finding chaos that contrasted sharply with the neatly organized room he had left behind. The lab area was ablaze, flames licking up from the workbench, and Gaster was cackling like a maniac while scribbling frantically in his notebook. The sight was both surreal and alarming.

[Gaster]: (laughing) This is fascinating! The chemical reactions are... unexpected!

[Ron]: (panicked) Gaster, stop! We need to put out the fire!

Adrian and Maple were engaged in a frantic struggle with the toaster and coffee maker, each device emitting plumes of smoke and sparks. The toaster was ejecting burnt toast at alarming speeds, while the coffee maker was bubbling over and threatening to overflow.

[Adrian]: (struggling) The coffee maker's possessed!

[Maple]: (shouting) The toaster won't stop!

Ron rushed to grab a fire extinguisher from the nearby closet and aimed it at the flames in the lab, extinguishing the fire with a few quick bursts. The room filled with white foam, putting out the remaining embers.

[Gaster]: (looking disappointed) Oh, there goes my experiment.

[Ron]: (sighing) I told you not to burn the room!

Ron turned his attention to Adrian and Maple, who were still wrestling with the malfunctioning appliances. With a deft flick of his wrist, he shut off the power to both devices, cutting off their chaotic outputs.

[Ron]: (exasperated) Can't leave you guys alone for a second. Let's clean this up.

With a collective effort, the team sprang into action. Gaster took charge of salvaging the remnants of his experiment, while Maple and Adrian tackled the kitchen appliances, ensuring they were cleaned and properly functional. Ron organized the rest of the room, setting things back in order and making sure everything was in its rightful place.

Once the mess was cleaned up and the room restored to its former state, they gathered around the new kitchen setup for a quick breakfast. Maple, despite her earlier struggles with the toaster, managed to make a few decent pancakes. Adrian brewed coffee, carefully avoiding any further mishaps with the machine.

[One hour later]

[Gaster]: (glancing at the clock) Ron, can you tell me the hour?

Ron, now more awake and with a fresh cup of coffee in hand, checked the wall clock. The hands were approaching the hour mark.

[Ron]: (nodding) It's 8:37. We still have some time before our first class at 9:00. we can meet up with the other teams and go to Professor Port

Ron and Team GRAM met up with Team RWBY and JNPR, and together they made their way to Professor Port's classroom, chatting excitedly about their first day and the upcoming lecture.

[Port]: (booming) Monsters, demons, prowlers of the night! Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as "prey"! Ha-ha!

The class fell into a subdued quiet. Most students seemed to be tuning in and out, trying to keep their focus.

Team GRAM was no exception. Ron, lost in his own world, had his headphones on, sharing the experience with Ruby as they listened to [Woe to the People of Order - Technoblade's War Ballad].

Gaster and Maple, however, were deeply engaged. Gaster's sharp eyes were focused on the board as he meticulously took notes, ensuring he captured every piece of valuable information. Maple sat beside him, her notebook filling up with key points and detailed observations about the Grimm.

Adrian, sitting with his coffee cup firmly in hand, was struggling to keep his eyes open. His constant sips of coffee were his battle against sleep, a necessary effort to stay alert during the lecture. Despite his heavy eyelids, he managed to stay upright and attentive.

As Professor Port's lecture dragged on, Adrian fought valiantly to keep his eyes open, his coffee now only mildly effective against the growing tide of drowsiness. His gaze, however, was suddenly drawn to a brewing confrontation between Weiss and Ruby. Weiss's face was flushed with frustration, and her body language suggested she was on the brink of a meltdown.

Adrian nudged Gaster and pointed discreetly towards Weiss, whose growing agitation seemed to lift his spirits slightly. The unfolding drama had momentarily broken the monotony of the lecture.

[Port]: Who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?

[Weiss]: I do, sir!

Weiss, visibly bristling with determination, raised her hand high. Surprisingly, Maple also raised her hand, her face a mix of curiosity and concern.

[Port]: Well then, let's put your abilities to the test. Step forward and face your opponent!

Professor Port gestured toward a large cage at the front of the room. Inside was a grim, boar-like creature, its dark eyes glowing with a menacing light. The Grimm snorted and pawed at the cage, clearly eager for a fight.

[Port]: The task is simple: demonstrate your skills against this Grimm. Show us what you're capable of!

Weiss stepped forward with a determined look, her focus entirely on the Grimm. The students watched with bated breath, their attention riveted on the unfolding test.

[Yang]: Go, Weiss!

Blake, standing beside Yang, waved a small flag with the RWBY emblem, cheering her teammate on.

[Blake]: Fight well!

[Ruby]: Yeah, represent Team RWBY!

The enthusiastic support from her teammates only seemed to fuel Weiss's frustration. She clenched her fists, her eyes narrowing at Ruby's words.

[Weiss]: Ruby, I'm trying to focus!

Gaster, who had been silently observing, muttered under his breath.

[Gaster]: Just be done with it.

With a deep breath, Weiss readied her weapon, a sleek rapier known as Myrtenaster. The Grimm snarled from its cage, the anticipation in the room palpable.

As the cage door creaked open, the boar-like Grimm charged out with surprising speed. Weiss moved with precision and grace, her rapier flashing in the dim light of the classroom. Each strike was calculated, her movements a dance of efficiency and skill.

She dodged the Grimm's powerful tusks and countered with a series of quick, strategic thrusts and slashes. The Grimm roared in frustration, its attacks becoming more wild and desperate. Weiss remained calm and focused, her strikes relentless.

Maple, observing from the sidelines, stood ready, her own eyes locked on Weiss. The test was as much about proving oneself as it was about learning from others.

Weiss stood triumphantly over the defeated Grimm, her breathing heavy but controlled. The students' applause echoed through the room, and Professor Port clapped enthusiastically.

[Port]: Bravo, Miss Schnee! An impressive display indeed. Now, let's see what Miss Maple can do.

He moved to open another cage, revealing an identical boar-like Grimm. The creature snarled, its red eyes gleaming with rage as it charged at Maple.

Maple, calm and composed, watched the Grimm's approach. As it lunged toward her, she swiftly raised her shield, blocking the attack with a firm, practiced motion. The impact echoed through the room, but Maple stood her ground, unfazed.

With a calculated move, she sidestepped the Grimm's follow-up attack, using the momentum to flip the creature onto its back. The students watched in awe as Maple's fluid movements showcased her strength and skill.

Without hesitation, Maple brought her shield down with incredible force, smashing it into the Grimm's head. The creature let out a final, pitiful snarl before its body went limp, dissolving into black mist.

The room was silent for a moment, the swift and decisive nature of Maple's victory leaving everyone in awe. Then, a wave of applause erupted, just as it had for Weiss.

[Port]: (beaming) Marvelous, Miss Maple! A powerful and efficient display of combat prowess, we have two true Huntress, But this is all the time we have for today's class dismissed

As Team GRAM exited the class, they couldn't help but overhear Ruby and Weiss having a tense conversation nearby.

[Ruby]: (sadly) What did I do?

[Weiss]: (frustrated) That's just it—you've done nothing to earn your position. Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so since.

Ruby's expression fell, her silver eyes reflecting hurt as she replied.

[Ruby]: (softly) Weiss, where is this coming from? What happened to all that talk about working together? I thought you believed in acting as a team.

[Weiss]: (coldly) Not a team led by you.

The words hung in the air, cutting deep into Ruby. Adrian, who had been watching silently, felt a surge of anger at Weiss's harshness.

[Adrian]: (stepping forward, voice hard) Ruby, leave her be. In the end, she's a burden on your team.

Weiss's face turned red with anger, her fists clenching at Adrian's remark.

[Weiss]: (fuming) How can I be a burden when she did nothing to earn her place?

Before Ruby could respond, Gaster stepped forward, his voice calm but cutting.

[Gaster]: (coolly) Neither did you, and yet here you are, claiming something you didn't earn. Nothing less from a Schnee.

Weiss's eyes widened in fury, and she nearly lost her composure. She rushed forward, her face flushed with anger, ready to lash out at Gaster. But before she could, Adrian stepped in, quickly holding her back.

[Adrian]: (firmly) Weiss, that's enough!

Weiss's resolve broke as she struggled to hold back her emotions. Tears welled up in her eyes, and before anyone could say anything else, she turned and ran down the hallway, her anger giving way to the vulnerability she tried so hard to hide.

Ron, who had been observing quietly, gave a side-eye to his teammates, assessing the situation.

[Adrian]: (defensive) What?

[Ron]: (calmly) Maple, go after her. Comfort her if you can. She's just a kid dealing with her own problems.

Maple nodded and quickly followed after Weiss, her steps light but purposeful. Ron then turned his gaze to Gaster, his tone more serious.

[Ron]: (pointing out) Gaster, you know the impact of what you just said, right? She's young and still figuring things out. You can't always hit people where it hurts, especially when they're already struggling.

Gaster frowned slightly, realizing the weight of his words, and nodded, though his expression remained stoic.

[Ron]: (sighing) And Adrian, you shouldn't have jumped in like that, especially since—

Ron's voice trailed off as he pointed subtly behind them. Adrian turned to see Ozpin standing there, casually sipping his coffee, but his eyes were sharp, clearly having witnessed the entire exchange.

[Ozpin]: (calmly) It seems you all had quite the discussion.
