Ron’s Journey Through Remnant

Chapter 17: 17- the Fridge and The cookies

The day began like any other for Team GRAM, but this morning had an unexpected twist. As Ron stepped into their dorm, he noticed something was off. The usual hum of their fridge was absent, and a faint chill lingered in the air. His instincts kicked in immediately.

[Ron]: Adrian, is the fridge empty again? And how are the traps holding up?

Adrian, crouching by the remnants of their once-formidable traps, thoroughly examined the carnage. The rat traps, designed to deter the most persistent of intruders, lay in ruins. The dart throwers, meant to serve as a final line of defense, were completely empty, their darts scattered across the floor.

[Adrian]: sighs Yeah, Nora broke in again. And this time… she took the whole fridge.

The team turned to the spot where their fridge used to be, now just an empty space surrounded by broken traps and scattered darts.

[Gaster]: How long do you think the sleeping medicine will take to work?

Adrian, still examining the destroyed traps, shook his head.

[Adrian]: At this rate, she'll have built up a tolerance. It might take longer than usual.

Ron rubbed his temples, trying to maintain his composure.

[Ron]: This is getting out of hand. We need to develop something stronger... something that even Nora can't just shrug off.

Maple, who had been quietly observing the scene, chimed in with a thoughtful expression.

[Maple]: Maybe instead of more traps, we should focus on reinforcing our defenses. Make it less about stopping her and more about preventing her from getting in at all.

Gaster, scribbling notes in his ever-present notebook, nodded in agreement.

[Gaster]: I could work on some enchantments, maybe something that disrupts her aura temporarily. Just enough to keep her from brute-forcing her way through.

Ron considered their suggestions, his mind already working through various scenarios.

[Ron]: Alright. Adrian, you and Maple handle reinforcing the dorm's defenses. Gaster, work on those enchantments. I'll see about getting us a new fridge and some stronger deterrents. We can't let this keep happening.

Just as the team was about to dive into their tasks, a chorus of growling stomachs reminded them of their current predicament.

[Ron]: sighing Okay, Maple, check the cabinet. I'm pretty sure I stashed some Insta-Noodles in there.

Maple eagerly opened the cabinet, only to freeze in place. Slowly, she turned back to Ron, her eyes brimming with tears.

[Maple]: {voice trembling} She took everything... even the spices... and my hidden sweets.

The team stared at the empty cabinet in disbelief, the full extent of Nora's raid sinking in. Ron closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath to maintain his calm.

[Ron]: {rubbing his temples} Of course she did.

Adrian looked sympathetically at Maple, who was still clutching the empty cabinet door.

[Adrian]: We'll get you more sweets, Maple. But first, let's focus on making sure this doesn't happen again.

Gaster, already jotting down notes for his enchantments, glanced up.

[Gaster]: I'll add a charm that repels intruders with a sweet tooth. That should cover all bases.

Maple wiped her eyes and nodded, her determination returning.

[Maple]: I'll make sure we're stocked up again. And next time, she won't get away with it.

Ron cracked a small smile, the frustration of the morning beginning to lift.

[Ron]: That's the spirit. Let's head out and grab some breakfast.

[Gaster]: I remember this academy has a cafeteria. We might as well go there. And if we run into Ren, we can ask him about Nora.

The team made their way to the dining hall, only to find chaos unfolding. Students were fleeing the cafeteria, rushing past Team GRAM with wide eyes, desperate to avoid being caught in the crossfire. Inside, a massive food fight was in full swing between Team RWBY and Team JNPR. Pancakes, fruit, and various other breakfast items soared through the air, leaving the room a mess of sticky chaos.

After the food fight finally came to an end, with Ruby and Yang laughing and Weiss fuming, Team GRAM approached Ren, who was calmly wiping off some remnants of food from his clothes.

[Ron]: Ren, we need to talk to you about Nora. Do you happen to know where our fridge is?

Ren sighed, already knowing where this conversation was headed.

[Ren]: She did it again, didn't she? I'll talk to her about it, but as for your fridge… I'm afraid it's probably been repurposed into one of her projects. You might want to look around the rooftops or in the garden.

As they spoke, Sun was laughing heartily, clearly having enjoyed the food fight. Meanwhile, Neptune stood nearby, drenched in grape soda, looking less than pleased.

[Sun]: Now that was entertainment!

[Neptune]: (grumbling) Next time, I'm sitting this out…

Before anyone could say more, Glynda Goodwitch stormed into the cafeteria, her face a mask of frustration. With a wave of her riding crop, she used her Semblance to restore the room to its pristine state, the food and mess vanishing as if it had never happened. Yang, who had been launched into the air during the fight, suddenly fell from above, landing back in the room with a thud.

[Glynda]: (sternly) I expect better behavior from all of you.

Despite her obvious frustration, Ozpin, who had been watching from the doorway, offered a small, knowing smile.

[Ozpin]: Let them enjoy their youth while it lasts, Glynda. They'll have plenty of time to be serious later. Also, Mr. Gaster, I believe we need to discuss the rocket fridge that broke into my office.

Ron, now with an even greater headache, looked at his team, who were already turning their attention toward Nora.

[Ron]: Looks like we found our missing fridge.

The members of Team GRAM turned slowly, their faces taking on creepy smiles as they prepared their weapons.

[Team GRAM]: Nora, give us back our food!

Nora, realizing the gravity of the situation, bolted out of the cafeteria with Team GRAM hot on her heels. The rest of Team JNPR and Team RWBY scrambled to calm the situation, trying to defuse the confrontation.

[Ren]: (trying to reason) Guys, let's talk this out. There's no need for violence.

[Ruby]: (pleading) Nora, come on! We just want our stuff back!

Despite their efforts, the chase continued through the academy, with Nora weaving through hallways and dodging various obstacles. In the end, after several chaotic minutes, the teams managed to corner Nora.

[Nora]: (breathless and apologetic) Okay, okay, I'm sorry! I just needed the fridge for… a project. I didn't mean to cause so much trouble.

[Maple]: (voice trembling) Why did you have to take everything, Nora? Even my hidden sweets?

[Nora]: (looking ashamed) I didn't realize how much I was taking. I'm really sorry. I'll make it up to you, I promise.

After some negotiation and Nora's promise to return what was left of the stolen food, it was agreed that she would no longer enter Team GRAM's dorm. The teams managed to settle their differences, albeit with some lingering tensions. Team GRAM, now with their fridge and a bit of peace restored, hoped that this would be the end of their food-related issues.

[Gaster]: Well, Ren, please keep an eye on her since we're already keeping an eye on Weiss.

[Weiss]: Hey, why would I break into your dorm for food?

[Gaster]: Not for food, but for my notebooks. I saw you eyeing them.

[Weiss]: Who wants… Actually, I am curious about how you make things like purple snow.

[Gaster]: Ah, so her true colors are showing… a thief.

[Weiss]: YOU LITTLE—

Before things could escalate further, Ruby intervened.

[Ruby]: You two, please stop arguing about everything!

As Ruby spoke, she casually ate something from a container, which made Gaster's eyes widen in alarm.

[Gaster]: Ruby, where did you get that cookie?

At that moment, everyone from Team GRAM stood up, their expressions shifting to concern.

[Ruby]: From that weird-looking part of the kitchen.

Ron's eyes widened in horror as he processed what Ruby had just said.

[Ron]: Ruby, that's the lab! You just ate one of Gaster's unknown experiments!

This revelation sent shockwaves through the group, and everyone in the dorm began to react with growing panic. Gaster, now deeply concerned, quickly moved to assess the situation.

[Gaster]: (frantically) What was in that cookie? Ruby, how do you feel?

Ruby, now looking a bit confused and a little frightened, tried to assure them.

[Ruby]: I feel fine, just a bit… sweet? Why is everyone so worried?

Gaster, still visibly anxious, began to pace back and forth as he tried to recall the potential effects of the experiment.

[Gaster]: (muttering to himself) I need to check the notes. It could be… dangerous. Maybe.

As Gaster hurried to his lab, the rest of the team gathered around Ruby, who was still trying to make sense of the chaos she had inadvertently caused.

[Yang]: My sister will be fine, right?

Yang's concern was evident, and her gaze was locked on Ruby, who was now trembling slightly.

[Weiss]: Why would you eat something left in a dangerous-looking can? You dolt!

Everyone's worry mounted as Maple, using her shield to block Ruby from any potential harm, tried to keep calm.

[Ron]: Yang, if Ruby has any last things to say before she explodes or turns into a man, let her say them.

Ron's attempt at dark humor only heightened the anxiety in the room.

Suddenly, Ruby began to shake uncontrollably. To everyone's shock, a second Ruby materialized beside the original, causing panic to surge through the group.

[Picture]

Gaster, arriving just in time, began to explain.

[Gaster]: Good news. The thing Ruby ate was a clone pill. It... creates a clone.

He gestured toward the two Rubies, one of whom had a bluish tint to her appearance.

[Gaster]: The clone should disappear in a short while. It's not harmful; just a temporary duplication.

[Ruby]: (looking between her two selves) So… I'm not going to blow up or turn into a man?

[Gaster]: (nodding) No, nothing like that. The clone will dissolve on its own. Just give it a little time.

As the team breathed a collective sigh of relief, the blue Ruby began to shimmer and fade away. The original Ruby watched in awe as the clone dissipated into nothingness.

[Maple]: (voice trembling) Why did this have to happen?

[Ron]: (placing a comforting hand on Maple's shoulder) It's okay. Just another day in Beacon, right?

The team, now visibly relieved, gathered around Ruby, who was still a bit shaken but unharmed. They exchanged looks of exhaustion and relief, grateful that the situation hadn't escalated further.

[Yang]: (hugging Ruby) Just... please, be more careful next time. We can't handle any more surprises today.

With the immediate danger averted, the team began to clean up and restore some semblance of normalcy, all the while reflecting on the unusual and chaotic day they had just experienced.
