Chapter 3: Binding the Hundredfold Amplification System
Su Chen's eyes lit up instantly.
Water, gasoline, and a practical hoe—these were exactly what he needed right now.
Although the quantities were small, the fact that he didn't encounter any dangerous creatures was already much better than he had expected.
Without wasting a moment, Su Chen opened the bottle of mineral water and drank cautiously. He was terrified of finishing it all in one go, knowing it would be hard to find more later.
In this world, water resources were incredibly scarce, and conserving every drop was essential.
For someone like Su Chen, who used to live a life of comfort without worrying about food or water, this was truly a challenge. But survival came first, and he had no choice but to adapt and economize.
He couldn't afford to expect too much. Staying alive was the only thing on his mind now.
Despite drinking carefully, the bottle of water was still small, and before he knew it, he had consumed a third of it.
This wouldn't last long. He'd still have to venture out and search for more resources today.
The water, though packaged in a standard mineral water bottle, didn't taste like purified water. Instead, it had the flavor of boiled natural spring water—slightly bitter, with a faint hint of sand that felt crunchy while drinking.
"If only I could drink pure water," Su Chen thought wistfully. But in this place, that was too much to ask for.
His lips were cracked and dry, a testament to the harsh environment.
Although Su Chen didn't have much survival knowledge, he was quick to adapt. Even in this sudden, unfamiliar world, he managed to adjust fairly well.
After temporarily quenching his thirst, Su Chen picked up the liter of gasoline and carefully poured it into his vehicle's fuel tank.
Just then, a mechanical voice rang out in his mind, sounding like a game loading screen:
[Ding! The Hundredfold Amplification System is initializing…]
"What's going on?" Su Chen froze in confusion.
[Congratulations, Host! The Hundredfold Amplification System has successfully been bound. This system can infinitely amplify resources and craft equipment. Would you like to activate the amplification feature?]
Although Su Chen was still a student, he had read plenty of web novels and had some understanding of systems.
"Oh my god! Did I really just get a cheat ability?"
With a mix of disbelief and excitement, Su Chen clicked "Confirm."
[Congratulations, Host! The Hundredfold Amplification System is now fully bound. You have obtained: 100 bottles of purified water, 10 liters of premium gasoline, and a Perfect-Grade Hoe.]
Suddenly, a pile of resources appeared before his eyes. Overwhelmed with joy, Su Chen immediately got to work, going back and forth dozens of times to transfer everything to his car.
The already cramped vehicle now felt even more packed.
Exhausted and drenched in sweat, Su Chen collapsed into the driver's seat. He grabbed one of the bottles of purified water, twisted it open, and chugged it down in one go.
"This water tastes so sweet!" he exclaimed.
Not only had the quantity increased, but even the taste had improved drastically.
After finishing the bottle, Su Chen patted his belly contentedly, feeling utterly refreshed.
"I wonder if I'm the only one with a system in this world, or if everyone has their own cheat abilities."
Curious, Su Chen opened the global chat channel.
Messages immediately flooded in:
["Hey everyone, I just opened a blind box and found two loaves of bread and a bottle of water."
"Has anyone found food yet? I've been digging with a hoe for ages and still haven't found anything. I think I'm going to starve."
"I spawned near a small stream with a constant water supply. I just had a drink. I can trade water for other resources if anyone's interested."
"Is anyone up for teaming up? I'm stuck in a desert, driving aimlessly, not sure where to go."
"I'm starving!"
"I found a bunch of wild berries—sweet and delicious! I'll trade them for gasoline."
"Help! I'm on a grassland, and all I see is grass and sheep. I just tried chasing a lamb for ten minutes, and now I'm too tired to move."
"Guys, I just dug up some potatoes and cooked them. They taste amazing!"
"Where can I find those? Any tips?"
"I'll post a guide later on which types of soil are more likely to contain treasure."
"I've got nothing to eat. Since I'm not a herbivore, I can't eat grass. Life is too hard."
"I just found a blueprint for a dagger. Anyone want to trade for it?"]
Su Chen skimmed through the chat messages but didn't see anyone mentioning a system. It seemed like this cheat ability was exclusive to him.
In this lonely "RV Survival" game, having a system gave him a significant advantage.
While others shared their experiences in the chat to alleviate boredom and anxiety, Su Chen felt an indescribable sense of isolation.
Last night had been long and cold, filled with monsters that kept him from sleeping.
"It looks like I'm the only one with a system. This means I'll progress far faster than the others."
Shaking his head, Su Chen felt a mix of pity and exasperation. Some people clearly lacked even the most basic survival knowledge. But he didn't have time to worry about them.
He typed out a brief message to share some tips, then closed the chat channel.
After living a modern life for so long, many people had lost the ability to survive in the wild. Su Chen wasn't sure whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.
He glanced at the time. The system displayed:
[RV Survival World: 3 hours until nightfall. Today's weather is warm, perfect for outdoor activities.]
Driving to another location didn't seem like a wise choice with only three hours left.
"Right, I still have that Perfect-Grade Hoe. Let's see what it can do."
[Perfect-Grade Hoe: Capable of detecting resources within a one-meter radius underground, significantly improving efficiency.]
Suddenly, a cheerful voice rang out: "Hello, Master! I am your intelligent hoe. I can accurately locate food and resources for you."
Su Chen was stunned. "What the…? This is an industrial miracle!"
With this hoe, his productivity skyrocketed.
Walking to an open field, Su Chen heard the hoe beep: "Beep beep… Master, there are resources buried in this area. Feel free to dig!"
Without hesitation, Su Chen began digging. Compared to his old wooden hoe, this Perfect-Grade Hoe felt amazing to use.
"Three parts luck, seven parts hard work. Only those who hustle can win!" Su Chen hummed a little tune to lift his spirits.
Before long, he unearthed several wooden crates. These were different from blind boxes—they didn't contain as many high-value resources, but they were free from danger.
Opening them felt less nerve-wracking, but no less exciting. It was like buying a lottery ticket.
"I hope I find something good to make today's work worthwhile," Su Chen muttered.
He decided to start with the smallest crate.
[Congratulations! You've obtained: 2 slices of bread.]
Next crate.
[Congratulations! You've obtained: 2 pieces of wood and 2 units of refined iron.]
"Huh? What is this?" Su Chen frowned. "Maybe these are materials for upgrading my RV?"
He opened another crate.
[Congratulations! You've obtained: 5 pieces of wood and 2 apples.]
"Wow, fruit! This is great," Su Chen smiled. The thought of fresh apples made his mouth water.
Finally, it was time for the largest crate. Su Chen opened it with anticipation.
[Congratulations! You've obtained: 1 small pot (suitable for cooking meals).]
"A pot! I bet I can make hotpot with this," Su Chen said excitedly.
Curious, he activated the system's amplification function.
[Congratulations! Resources successfully upgraded! You've obtained: 100 pieces of wood, 20 apples, 20 units of refined iron, and a luxurious large pot.]
Su Chen couldn't help but grin. This system was incredible!
