Chapter 7: Installing Bulletproof Windows
Owning this little guy meant another mouth to feed, so Su Chen had to work even harder to find supplies.
After eating and drinking his fill, Er Bao lay down next to Su Chen.
It was then that Su Chen realized he needed to make a cozy little home for his new friend.
He found a relatively enclosed spot inside the vehicle, placed a pillow on the ground as bedding, and surrounded it with some straw he had picked up, forming a warm little nest.
"From today onwards, this is Er Bao's home!"
The day's harvest was significant—not only had Su Chen obtained a blind box filled with valuable items, but more importantly, he had gained an adorable pet.
Gently placing Er Bao into his new home, Su Chen watched the puppy fall into a peaceful sleep. The sight filled his heart with joy.
Su Chen knew Er Bao had been a great help. It was thanks to Er Bao's sharp sense of smell that he found the blind box today. Dogs seem naturally gifted at detecting the scent of items.
After settling Er Bao, Su Chen remembered his perfect-grade bulletproof windows. If he installed them, they could help fend off wild animals during the night. This was definitely an excellent idea.
With this, Su Chen could equip his entire vehicle with bulletproof windows. As the sky gradually darkened, he decided not to continue driving.
Spotting a towering tree ahead that exuded a sense of security, Su Chen parked the vehicle beside it.
Without navigation, traveling was particularly challenging. The conditions were harsh, and gauging how far he could go in a day was almost impossible.
Driving nonstop for a day wasn't feasible either—no one has that much stamina to keep going without rest.
The roadside stretched endlessly into the distance. Apart from Su Chen, there wasn't another soul in sight. The map of this world seemed unimaginably vast. Otherwise, how could there be random drop zones spanning grasslands, deserts, and forests?
After fully equipping his vehicle with perfect-grade bulletproof windows, there were still extras left. Su Chen listed these extras on the trading platform, allowing others to make offers.
Although Su Chen had plenty of food, he wasn't sure what else he needed. He thought it'd be better to see what others had to offer.
Since Su Chen didn't fully understand the materials used to make the windows, he could only provide a rough description before posting them.
Su Chen didn't like spamming messages in the world chat channel to trade supplies. Instead, he preferred to post once and let those interested come to him, saving himself a lot of effort.
This was Su Chen's second time posting on the platform. The first time had already created a buzz.
Everyone knew Su Chen was like a big boss in this world. So when he posted again, no one was too surprised.
For Su Chen, the perfect-grade bulletproof windows were surplus items. As long as someone wasn't trying to freeload, Su Chen was open to trading with most people.
These items could only be traded on the platform.
Su Chen had become the center of attention. On the forum tied to the platform, there were over 200,000-300,000 posts discussing him. Some pretended to be Su Chen, some analyzed why he was so successful, while others schemed to take him down. Surprisingly, these weren't just women—there were plenty of men too.
In this world, Su Chen had become no less popular than a celebrity.
However, he didn't take this too seriously. He remained friendly and approachable, treating netizens like friends. Most who interacted with him described Su Chen as particularly kind.
["Wow, how many resources does Su Chen even have? And they're all such high-quality items."
"I bet the stuff he's showing us is just the tip of the iceberg. Imagine what he's keeping hidden!"
"He's got bulletproof windows—that's no small feat. Can I trade refined iron for one? I've been mining all day and think I've found an iron vein."
"Hey, boss, last time I asked for advice, all you said was, 'Figure it out yourself.' Now I don't even trust myself anymore."
"Have you discovered some secret we don't know? Is that why you're thriving so smoothly in this world?"
"So jealous. I've been chasing a flock of sheep all day and couldn't even catch one. It's clear how tough it is to survive here. You must have some extraordinary skills, boss. Teach me, please!"
"Not only is the boss skilled, but he's also so good-looking. I'm in awe! Let's collaborate someday if possible."
"I bet this Su guy isn't a good person. He's probably the one behind this whole world, dragging us here just to play games with us."
"What's with your attitude? You're just jealous, right? Can't survive here, so now you're a keyboard warrior?"
"Exactly! Can't believe I'd encounter trolls even here. Bet they're just some nobody in real life, too."
"Su Chen, don't mind them. True fans will always stand by you!"]
Su Chen paused at a peculiar comment: "Orange fans will always follow!"
He was baffled. Orange? What does that even mean? Curious, Su Chen searched his name on the forum.
To his surprise, countless posts were discussing him, and there was even a fan club dedicated to him.
It turned out the fan club was established by none other than "Jiang Susu," someone he had previously traded with.
Su Chen had a positive impression of her—she was calm, straightforward, and didn't say unnecessary things during trades.
Intrigued, he clicked into Jiang Susu's profile.
Since their last transaction, she had founded the Su Chen Fan Club, overseeing its daily operations and activities.
Her efforts were evident—the fan club was managed meticulously. Whenever trolls pretending to be fans infiltrated the group to tarnish Su Chen's name, Jiang Susu immediately took action, apologizing to fans for any disruptions and blaming herself for poor management.
She always defended Su Chen, describing him as a quiet yet warm-hearted young man.
For some reason, hearing her words made Su Chen feel a bit shy.
Though there were malicious comments here and there, the world still had more kindness than hostility.
Even among those who weren't fans, many believed Su Chen wasn't as the trolls described him.
