Chapter 44: Currency System
While he had not yet started practising, Jake mediated on the words of Knight. Knight was like a workaholic, he practised day and night, but he still did not break through. He got everything right; the technique, the physique, but not the mind.
He didn't think like a sword coming out of its sheath!
'I will also have to be careful with my mental state,' cautioned Jake.
'Andrew said something about a courtyard for practising techniques. I can go there after the preliminary stage….that is, if I pass the stage. I have a feeling it wouldn't take long for me to achieve the first stage and with my cultivation at [Stage 3 Morning Dew Realm], i might be able to clinch a winning spot in the competition.'
Jake thought about a lot of things. He thought about his next action, his goal, his path, and his future plans.
He realized that all of it was hazy and unclear. He didn't know anything about this world, and the people in Pinesun city were like cavemen. They barely knew anything.
As a cultivator, he was required to occasionally adventure, to taste the euphoria of death.
However, no matter how he thought it, Aztec Kingdom wasn't enough for him. With his rate of improvement, he would probably get to the third realm before next year, and then what would he do?
Where would he go? He barely knew the Southern Continent and it was said that Aztec Kingdom was the strongest kingdom in the continent.
How would he survive? The currency system might not be the same as the other kingdom.
In Aztec, there were three currencies; copper, bronze, and gold. A thousand copper would make one bronze.
A thousand bronze would make one gold.
A thousand gold would make a rich man.
Even with months of hunting and saving, Jake barely had fifty gold. How would he survive without much money.
All these questions swimmed around Jake's head, as he realized he was all alone. He didn't have any help and he doesn't need one.
For now, he should focus on the competition, and plan his next step after that.
'There is no point in worrying. There is nothing I can do,' thought.
So, for the first time in a while, Jake slept.
...….
"Wake up, Wakey Wakey!" a voice shouted.
It pierced through Jake's dream, but he got repelled back as the dream was too strong.
The dream was a scene of Jake, looking evil, as he proceeded to kill many people. Screams could be heard as Jake shot out purple energy out of his.
The energy destroyed the earth around him, killing the people, leaving no remain, and Jake watched as he caused more chaos...
"Damn it! Jake, wake up! We are here," the voice screamed into Jake's ear.
This time, it managed to awake Jake from his terrifying dreams
Feeling groggy, he slowly opened his eyes, 'Hmm, what was that all about?'
He was all too familiar with that scene. It happened when Jake removed all his inhibitions and went crazy. He caused so much destruction. However, he didn't feel guilty about it.
As there was no time to think, Jake put the dream at the back of his head.
He looked at the source of the voice that woke him up, "Hmm, what is it?"
"We have arrived," replied Nico
"Oh, where is everybody?" asked Jake as he noticed they were the only ones in the carriage.
"Outside. We are waiting for you," smiled Nico.
"Oh, is that so. Let's go"
Jake stood up adjusting his tie and clothes as he walked out of the carriage.
Immediately, he noticed a huge white hall with a wolf statue in front of it.
"So, this is the Capital Hall," commented Jake.
"It's beautiful, right?" asked Nico who was beside him.
He got his reply in the form of a nod.
Uncle Todd, who was among those waiting, teased Jake, "Glad, you could join us, sleepy"
He faced the teenagers, who were looking around, "Now, listen! We are almost late. I have nothing to say to you, i have said it all, just remember to not disgrace my house name."
"Yes, sir!" chanted the teens.
Most of them placed their attention somewhere. They were looking at the other nobles, who also came in carriages, as they entered the hall.
To them, the situation felt dreamlike. They never expected to ever be here at all.
As he just came out, Jake finally got a good look at all the teens. Back in the carriage, Jake couldn't get a good look at them and he also wasn't interested in doing so.
However, now that he had the time and space, there was no harm in doing it, was there?
Glancing, Jake noticed that most of them wore black suits, with the exception of a few like Andrew and Nico, who wore colored suits.
The females were dressed in beautiful long dresses and braided their hair.
For example, Jaya wore an ornate blue dress that flowed from top to bottom. It had a v-neckline, which gracefully revealed her beautiful skin. The corset of her dress covered her stomach where the continuous flow was broken by a light rope belt worn quite high around her waist.
Below the rope, the dress opened slightly, revealing her gorgeous and smooth legs.
Her sleeves were short, with a circle spot opened on both sleeves. Also, Her purple hair was braided in a french braid style.
Together with her beautiful figure, she looked very attractive.
She walked together with Lola, who wore a similar dress as hers, but her black dress was more tighter, highlighting her petite stature. Also, her black hair was braided into a ponytail style.
In their respective dresses, Lola and Jaya caught the stares of the crowds, even the nobles, who could all agree that their beauty was definitely rare.
"What are you all staring for? Let's go. The celebration is about to start," shouted Uncle Todd.
He was followed behind by Gavin and the trio, as they entered the large hall….
