Sent to Another World!

Chapter 2

I found myself standing alone in a meadow.
“This is not a dream…” I muttered, my words mixed with a sigh.

“Status open!” I exclaimed. I just wanted to say it after coming to this another world. Then, a word appeared before me.

“Private.”
But there was only this word.
“What is this? A rank?”
Various thoughts flooded my mind.

Images of weapons like rifles and knives, camouflage clothing, and warm attire appeared in my head. Even combat rations and personal carrying equipment like canned food surfaced in my mind. Also, I somehow understood how to use them all.

For the time being, I summoned a rifle, and a Type 89 5.56 mm rifle materialized in front of me.

“A gun appeared! Seriously!?”
I couldn’t contain my excitement at touching a gun for the first time. After making sure no one was around, I fired a few shots toward a tree.

Bang!

A hole formed in the tree. Excitement coursed through me as I gripped the gun. “This is incredible! I can live in another world with this!”

With the gun in hand, I set out on an adventure. That was the plan.
While wandering in search of a town, I heard screams coming from the bottom of a cliff.

Apparently, a carriage was under attack by bandits. What a cliché encounter…

The expensive-looking carriage was cornered beneath a cliff that was probably 20 meters high. Bandits surrounded it, creating an obvious desperate situation.

I started shooting from the top of the cliff, taking down the bandits one by one. Perhaps it was the effect of my transmigration, but I felt no guilt about killing people.

When the last bandit fell, a man who didn’t dress like the bandits emerged from the forest and approached the carriage. A woman attendant and her master came out from inside the wagon.

“Are you all right?”
“Yes. Where are the bandits?”
“All the bandits are down,” replied the man, proudly taking credit for the feat.

“Well, what a brave man you are! May I ask your name?” The master of the carriage inquired.
“I am an adventurer called Horn. It is my honor to be able to save such a lovely lady.”

“No, I’m not… Oh, excuse me. I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself. My name is Anna McDonnell. I am the eldest daughter of the Earl of McDonnell.”
“My goodness, you are the daughter of a lord. It is a fortunate chance for us to meet here, and I look forward to making your acquaintance.”

“Yes, you will be rewarded after we return to the mansion. But the bandits have killed all the knights who protected me. Master Horn, would you please guard me back to town?”
“In that case, I will escort you to the town.”
Anna seemed to be getting attracted to Horn. He was both brave and charming, protecting her when her knights could not. The woman attendant was at her wits’ end, unable to prevent Anna and Horn from growing closer.

Meanwhile, I watched from the top of the cliff as they chatted amiably.

I felt angry at him for taking credit for my deeds, but I couldn’t get close to them as I was on the cliff. Reluctantly, I left that place, feeling like helping them had been a waste of time…
