Shadow Slave (Guiltythree) | Aposle of Oath

Chapter 36: Preparation (Short Chapter)

In total, Isaac had around six Memories that he would use in an effort to kill the Lord of the Dead.

Yeah, among the six memories, only two were truly worth explanation.

Those the first of the two Memories were.

Name: Flame of Ambition.

Memory Rank: Awakened.

Memory Tier: II.

Memory Type: Tool.

Memory Description: [A young man heard the stories of heroes and desired to become one.]

Memory Enchantments: [Flaming Ambition], [Purifier].

Flaming Ambition Enchantment Description: [This Memory burns with resilient flames as long as the user desires burns.]

Purifier Enchantment Description: [The flame of this Memory is extremely pure.]

Isaac had already given the Memory to somebody that he thought would do perfectly for those two specific enchantments.

And the candidate he picked was Nephis.

Out of everybody in the current cohort, her desire burns the brightest.

Her will to see the sovereign killed by her blade burned with boundless fuel.

The second was.

Name: Graceless Blessing.

Memory Rank: Awakened.

Memory Tier: II.

Memory Type: Tool.

Memory Description: [A young woman heard the stories of a priestess who could bestow blessings. Wishing to be the same she strode on that path yet in the end, she was left graceless, unable to bestow the blessing of her own.]

Memory Enchantments: [Graceless], [Blessing].

Honestly, the name of the enchantments wasn't anything crazy and was honestly pretty disappointing.

Though the names were rather uninspiring, the abilities, those enchantments gave were extremely essential to his plans.

Graceless Enchantment Description: [This Memory allows for the copying of other Memory enchantments.]

Blessing Enchantment Description: [This Memory can bestow copied enchantments upon Memories.]

Isaac gave this one to Cassia.

Sadly, she was blind, and couldn't contribute much to the fight against the Lord of the Dead.

Fortunately, this Memory did not need the user to have the ability to see.

The remaining Memories were only amplifications that would increase the strength of the enchantments or add new ones that were relatively common.

Such as the third Memory, which was an extremely sharp sword with an enchantment that only made it a bit sharper.

Or the fourth Memory, which allowed it to stop wind resistance when thrown.

The fifth Memory was an arrow forged from lightning.

The sixth was a giant mace that could slowly build up inertia and release it in one large explosion.

All these Memories were factored into Isaac's plan.

Of course, there was another hard part that needed to be completed first.

And that was to convince the cohort to fight the Lord of the Dead first.

"Are you crazy!!!".

Sunny was in disbelief.

This crazy psychotic bastard wanted them to fight a Fallen Tyrant.

It was suicide.

At least he was not the only one.

Effie seemed surprised and angered to hear his declaration.

Kai's face paled his lips slightly blue.

Yet eerily Cassia and Nephis were silent.

It was as if...

'Tsk Cassia saw this coming'.

Of course, Sunny knew the bling girl could not foresee specific scenarios, but through her divination dreams, she could glimpse small, symbolic pieces of the future.

He assumed that she saw something similar to them fighting some sort of giant made of bones.

Sunny greeted his teeth.

'Wait'.

Sunny froze.

If he rejected right now, he could try to push the rest of the cohort or the ones that seemed against it to reject clearly with him.

Wouldn't this break fate?

Then another dark thought permeated his mind.

What if it wasn't that they would fight the Lord of the Dead, but they actually wouldn't fight him because of his suggestion?

The possibilities were both equally compatible with the current situation.

It was either that Cassia foresaw their victory.

Or she had seen him or somebody of their cohort this way, Isaac.

Sunny sighed.

Everything was so complicated.

Looking around something suddenly caught his eye.

It was a small, insignificant golden glow.

At first, he thought he was hallucinating. He had seen the glow before.

It was the glow of divinity.

Sunny froze.

'Ahh, so this is how'.

After his gaze landed on the object that gave off the light of divinity he felt an almost compelling urge to jump into the pit of bones.

He didn't know why, but he felt weirdly connected...

No, it was more to say that he felt a connection a pull toward the glowing object.

Enhancing himself with his two shadows and straining his eyes he was able to identify the object.

It was a rusty key.

After gaining a closer look the pull became stronger.

Becoming nearly irresistible.

Greeting his teeth, he looked at Isaac.

"How sure are you that your plan is going to work?".

"W-What doofus...".

"Y-you don't mean...".

Both Kai and Effie tried to convince Sunny but he heartlessly ignored them, staring directly at Isaac.

"Maybe a good sixty percent chance of killing it".

"And escape?".

Isaac peered deeply at him.

"Seventy percent…. maybe".

Sunny inhaled deeply.

'Ahh I might... no I will regret this'.

"Ok let's do it".
