Chapter 85: Chapter 85: But, My Wife Is Better
Why does this world have such a setting?
Did it completely fail to foresee the day when a human would be doing push-ups with a female dragon on his back?
However, Rossweise was only teasing Leon. After doing a few, she got off him.
The push-ups continued.
"Three hundred and twenty-eight… Three hundred and twenty-nine…"
Halfway through, Leon's arms were trembling.
His current state was obviously struggling.
There were still over a hundred left; he estimated that he wouldn't be able to persist—
"Are you done? If not, I'll help you."
"How?"
Rossweise chuckled mischievously, then lay down on the grass.
She lifted one of Leon's arms and slid under him herself. [T/N: 🥲]
The two faced each other, one above and one below.
Rossweise lay comfortably beneath him, smirking at Leon.
As Leon did push-ups, it was inevitable that he couldn't control the distance when lowering himself.
A few times, his nose even lightly brushed against Rossweise.
The pleasant fragrance on her body also took the opportunity to waft into his nose.
Rossweise just lay there, her ponytail draped to the side, the bangs on her forehead naturally framing her face—a fresh, energetic young girl.
"If you can't hold on, you'll end up kissing me. So, think about it—will you grit your teeth and finish the training or have an intimate moment with the dragon species you hate the most?"
Fine.
Leon understood:
This wasn't about doing push-ups; it was about the dignity of a dragonslayer.
'Damn female dragon! Wait until my vacation is over and see how I deal with you.'
"You should… you should start a class," Leon said, struggling to continue his push-ups.
"A class on what?"
"How to… train… prisoners of war."
Rossweise squinted and smiled. "Am I not already holding one? And you're my only student, Leon~"
———
Saturday.
The family sports day at St. Heath Academy was held as scheduled.
As a brand-new initiative, the academy took this sports day very seriously. All the supporting facilities were lavish, and the venue was large enough to host several dragon-human wars.
Following the staff's guidance, Leon's family of four entered the venue.
Leon held Luna in his arms. As soon as he stepped into the vast arena, he was captivated by the dazzling array of first-class awards before him.
'If I were to defeat them one by one, I could buy a lot of good stuff for Donkey, right?'
'Today, the great dragonslayer will defeat all of you dragons—on the field, of course.'
"This way to your seats," the staff said.
The family of four continued to their assigned seats.
In the spectator area for young dragons, each pair of families was provided with a professional dragon caretaker to ensure the young dragons wouldn't be unattended during their parents' matches.
This arrangement was quite thoughtful.
After sitting down, Luna pointed at the track below, her soft, chubby face full of wonder. "What a big place!"
About twenty minutes later, the audience seats were packed.
Vice Principal Wilson adjusted the microphone at the podium, cleared his throat, and announced, "The first family sports day at St. Heath Academy is now commenced."
The vice principal's declaration was met with thunderous applause.
It's worth mentioning that sports days worldwide follow nearly identical processes.
After the speech comes the opening ceremony, where each class parades past the podium.
Once the classes finished their showcase, Vice Principal Wilson gave a short speech, emphasizing, "Friendship first, competition second. Students, do your best!"
With that, the sports day officially began.
The first event was a family relay race—direct and intense, befitting a battle-hardened nation.
Each family had to field three members, including the enrolled student.
For families with cocoon-born dragons that only had a parent, the academy allowed them to invite a direct relative of the same species to form a team.
This not only increased the number of participants but also added more fun to the competition while considering the minority oviparous dragon families.
"A relay race, huh? We've practiced this over the past couple of days," Leon said.
"Yeah, but don't be careless. I just saw that there's an electric dragon family participating," Rossweise reminded him.
The electric dragons, like Rossweise's silver dragon clan, were known for their speed. They couldn't be underestimated.
Leon nodded, placing Luna on her seat. "Alright, let's go."
The assigned caretaker quickly sat beside Luna.
Luna, being sociable, wasn't afraid of strangers and waved cheerfully at her parents and sister. "Do your best~"
"Got it!"
The three headed to the track for a warm-up.
After receiving their number bibs, they discussed their relay order.
"The race is 3,000 meters in total, 1,000 meters per person. The family with the shortest time wins," Noah explained.
"Even young dragons have to run 1,000 meters?" Leon asked.
Noah nodded.
If this were a human event, making kids under ten run a kilometer would be considered child abuse.
But since this was a dragon event, it all seemed reasonable.
After all, a nation that includes How to Kill S-Class Dangerous Species in children's books can't be judged by common standards.
"Alright, Mom goes first, I'll go second, and Da—you'll take the third leg. Okay?"
Noah almost called him "Dad" without thinking but seemed a bit shy or hesitant.
Even so, Leon was satisfied hearing even a hint of the word.
That was progress from last time when she only mouthed the letter "D."
Both parents agreed to her arrangement.
"Once the order is confirmed, family members, please head to your respective starting points. The race is about to begin," announced the referee.
Since they were already at the starting point for the first leg, Rossweise stayed put.
"Mom, we'll get ready," Noah said.
"Alright, don't be nervous. I'll make sure to pass the baton to you first," Rossweise said, smiling as she waved the baton.
Noah's stern little face softened into a smile. "Okay."
After reassuring her eldest daughter, Rossweise turned to Leon.
Their eyes met briefly. Without many words, they exchanged a subtle nod.
Leon then walked with Noah to her position for the second leg.
The father and daughter didn't talk much on the way.
Unlike other children, Noah became more determined when serious, so Leon refrained from cracking jokes to lighten the mood.
Standing at the second leg's starting point, Leon finally said, "I'll be waiting for you at the third leg, Noah."
"Alright."
Leon glanced at his right hand, made a small fist, and held it out to Noah.
"Give your dad some encouragement?"
Noah got the hint and lightly bumped her small fist against his.
Just like during her entrance exam, their fists, large and small, conveyed strength to each other.
After the fist bump, Leon headed to the final leg's starting line.
Once all families were in position, a brilliant dragon flame exploded in the sky, signaling the race's start.
At the first leg, a silver blur darted forward, leaving a silver trail behind, astonishing the crowd and the announcer.
Leon was about to celebrate but noticed another female dragon gaining on Rossweise.
"Someone can match Rossweise's speed…" Leon murmured.
"Of course, speed isn't exclusive to the silver dragons," came a voice beside him.
Leon turned to see a tall, wiry man about 1.9 meters tall.
His eyes drifted to the lightning mark on the man's tail.
"Electric dragon clan…"
During the war, Leon had memorable encounters with the electric dragons.
Although they weren't strong fighters, they were almost impossible to catch when fleeing.
Often, they'd stage mock attacks on Leon's troops, only to retreat immediately—a classic annoyance tactic.
"Look! Misty from the electric dragon clan has overtaken Rossweise from the silver dragons. She's ahead by a body length."
The announcer was ecstatic.
Leon glanced back at the track.
Sure enough, the female electric dragon had pulled ahead, with Rossweise chasing hard behind her.
The wiry man beside Leon smirked. "Even in a casual race, the results somewhat reflect the differences between clans, don't they?"
Leon stuffed his hands into his pockets, silent.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. My wife's already ahead by two lengths. Is there even a need to keep watching?"
Leon gave him a sidelong glance and calmly replied, "Yeah, your wife's good."
The electric dragon: "?"
Even though it sounded like praise, something felt off.
Before he could retort, Leon added, "But my wife's better."
