Chapter 111: Chapter 84.2: Planning Something Big

"Hello, Yang."

"Good afternoon, Ms. Potts. And this is?"

"Oh, this is my new secretary, Natasha. Tony just signed the papers for the CEO transition."

"Congratulations, Ms. Potts."

"Thank you, but I preferred my old job. Being an assistant was much easier than being CEO."

They both smiled at each other.

Chu Yang then turned his attention to Natasha. He admired the Black Widow from the Avengers.

After all, working as an ordinary person among superhumans, most of whom either had powers or mutations, was no easy task.

Natasha, being highly perceptive of men's gazes, noticed Chu Yang staring at her, and the corners of her mouth lifted.

Most men she'd met had the same response, staring at her with an aggressive, predatory look, especially boys going through puberty.

But soon, Natasha realized Chu Yang's gaze was different.

It was pure, devoid of desire, and even held a hint of admiration.

Natasha was briefly stunned.

Chu Yang nodded politely to Natasha and brushed past her.

Pepper pointed at Chu Yang's retreating figure and smiled as she explained, "That's Yang, Tony's assistant and a genius funded by Stark Industries."

"You'll be working with him a lot in the future. Make sure to introduce yourself properly when you get the chance."

"Oh, and I mean for work only—don't get any ideas. He's still a kid..."

Natasha smiled, "Thanks for the heads-up, Ms. Potts."

After finishing the daily experiments, Chu Yang didn't leave Tony's house. Instead, he asked if he could stay the night.

Tony, with a look of disdain, said, "Good thing I'm going to Las Vegas tonight. Otherwise, I'd kick you out. My bed is reserved for beauties only."

Chu Yang snorted, "I'll sleep in the lab. Your bed might have some kind of virus."

Tony burst out laughing and downed a glass of red wine. "At your age, there's no need to spend all your time cooped up in the lab. Some things, if you miss them, you'll never experience again."

Inwardly, Chu Yang shook his head. Many things he could experience countless times.

For example, being a student...

Soon, Happy arrived to pick Tony up. For a change, this trip to Las Vegas wasn't for fun—it was for work.

Chu Yang continued working in the lab, trying to build a reactor. He tried many times but ultimately failed.

If he built a reactor based on Tony's existing model, he could easily complete it.

But that would be meaningless.

Chu Yang wanted to build his own reactor, from foundational theoretical data to a fully developed model, and finally, to the complete product, all on his own.

It was incredibly difficult.

Even a genius like Tony, cursed with "knowledge" by Thanos, took over twenty years of accumulated knowledge to successfully build the arc reactor from theory.

Catching up in such a short time was extremely challenging for Chu Yang.

Unless he could create a few more clones.

As night deepened, the only sounds in the lab were the sizzling of lasers and the voices of Chu Yang and J.A.R.V.I.S.

With heightened focus, Chu Yang's senses became extraordinarily sharp. He could hear faint sounds, as if someone was walking stealthily.

"A thief..."

Chu Yang smiled. Choosing this time clearly meant the intruder knew Tony wasn't home. To avoid the advanced security system and the heavy guards around Iron Man's house, the person had to be highly skilled.

And there was only one person who fit both criteria: Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, disguised as Pepper's secretary.

Nick Fury must have sent Black Widow to gather some data on the Iron Man suits. This matched his style perfectly.

Due to the deviation in the timeline, Tony hadn't fought Obadiah Stane, so Nick Fury didn't have much combat data on the Iron Man suits.

So, it was natural for him to be curious.

So far, all of Tony's combat experiences had been with Chu Yang's help.

And they had all ended in defeat.

This had bruised Tony's ego, pushing him to furiously design new suits in the lab.

How could he wear a suit out in public that couldn't even defeat a teenager?

Chu Yang continued his work without pausing. His Observation Haki stayed locked on Natasha.

Her movements were incredibly quiet, and it would have been difficult to catch them by sound alone.

If not for his Haki, Chu Yang would have had trouble keeping track of her.

Seeing Chu Yang sitting motionless in the lab like a statue, Natasha grew anxious and decided to create a distraction to lure him out.

Natasha deliberately knocked over a wine glass, setting fire to the bar counter.

She quickly vaulted up to the ceiling and hung from the rafters.

Meanwhile, Chu Yang walked down to the living room and headed straight for the bar. He noticed the flames and started looking for a fire extinguisher.

Natasha seized the moment and somersaulted into the lab while the door was still open.

At the same time, Chu Yang, who had been extinguishing the fire, paused and looked back at her, chuckling to himself.

Inside the lab, Natasha glanced around before slowly approaching the main computer. As a top-tier agent, Natasha's hacking skills were decent.

But compared to Tony, it was like a PhD graduate versus an elementary schooler.

Elementary skills were enough for her, though. She only needed to retrieve some data. After inserting a specially designed USB drive into the main computer, she watched the progress bar climb, feeling relieved as she casually glanced around Tony's lab.

The next moment...

She froze.

The person who was supposed to be putting out the fire, Chu Yang, was now standing silently behind her. If he had chosen to attack, she would already be dead.

"Ms. Potts said you've been working alone in the lab all night, so I thought I'd bring you some food..."

"That excuse is pretty weak, Ms. Romanoff. Doesn't S.H.I.E.L.D. train you better than this?"

Chu Yang mercilessly exposed Natasha's lie, which made her flush with embarrassment.

"Yes, usually in this situation, we'd start by fighting."

As she spoke, Natasha pulled several tranquilizer darts from her waist and hurled them at Chu Yang.

She could have used a gun, but Nick Fury had specifically instructed her not to kill, especially not Chu Yang.

Nick Fury had his sights set on recruiting Chu Yang into S.H.I.E.L.D.

But Natasha never expected...

Chu Yang caught the darts with ease and flung them back even faster.

Several shadows zipped past, and the darts all embedded themselves in Natasha's chest.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. That was an accident..."

Before Chu Yang could finish his apology, Natasha collapsed to the ground.

"A man and a woman alone in a room... sparks can fly easily, Miss Natasha!" Chu Yang remarked, maintaining his distance from the unconscious Natasha.

Natasha remained motionless.

Chu Yang shook his head and said, "There are mechanical arms all over this room. I could strip your clothes clean without even touching you. If you keep this up, I might just take advantage of the situation..."

Natasha, who was supposed to be unconscious, instantly flipped over and sat up.

With a sigh, she said, "You don't look like a high school student at all."

Chu Yang asked, "Has Agent Hill not talked to you about me?"

Natasha scoffed, "Talk? No. Complain about you? Plenty. Do you want to hear it?"

Chu Yang waved his hand, "Let's skip that."

He then walked over to the main computer, pulled out a USB drive that was 80% done copying, and crushed it underfoot.

"You should adopt a more friendly approach instead of breaking into someone's house to steal things."

"S.H.I.E.L.D. needs to determine if Tony Stark is worth collaborating with, so we require some information. Don't worry, we have no intention of claiming his research as our own."

"If you were me, how much of your own explanation would you believe?"

Facing Chu Yang's questioning, Natasha shrugged helplessly, "If I were you, I wouldn't believe a single word from a criminal caught in the act."

"That's the right mindset," Chu Yang nodded with a smile. "Because you've been so honest, you can leave. But once you're back, tell S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director that if he wants to work with Tony, sincerity is a necessity."

"Really?" Natasha looked at Chu Yang, surprised.

Chu Yang said nothing, but stepped aside to make way for her to leave.

As Natasha cautiously walked past him, she suddenly stopped.

"Hill and Coulson both said you're highly skilled."

"I believe you've already experienced it."

"To be honest, I was a bit careless just now."

"So what?"

Natasha flashed a mischievous smile and suddenly attacked Chu Yang, though she refrained from using any weapons.

Chu Yang guessed this might be a task Nick Fury had given her—to find the right moment to properly assess his combat abilities.

The two of them fought in the lab. Chu Yang only used Fishman Karate and Observation Haki to counter her.

Originally, he planned to just use Fishman Karate, but worried she might get desperate and pull some dirty tricks, so he also employed Observation Haki.

His concerns turned out to be valid.

Frustrated from being hit, Natasha began resorting to low blows and even used gadgets like a hypnotic spray.

She used every trick in the book.

After all, she's a spy—you never know what equipment they might have hidden.

A while later.

The mansion's main door opened, and Natasha limped out, clutching the side of her face. She stood by the roadside for a moment before a sleek black sports car pulled up in front of her.

It wasn't some bored playboy behind the wheel, but Agent Coulson.

Coulson rolled down the window, staring at Natasha in shock.

"Oh my God, what did he do to you?"

"Nothing, I fell."

"Where did you fall to end up like that? Did the place have a hundred spiral steps or something?"

"Shut up, Coulson!"

Natasha, now sitting in the passenger seat, glared at Coulson angrily. "Do you want to tumble down a hundred spiral steps yourself?"

Coulson quickly closed his mouth as the roar of the car's engine filled the air.

Coulson drove Natasha back to S.H.I.E.L.D.
