[General/Angryy: Oh, I didn’t know. Thank you]
[General/GreenWidow: Huiyuuu♡♡ My party invitation was rejected]
[General/OldBaby: Angryy, want some help with the quest? lol]
[General/Angryy: It’s okay]
[General/OldBaby: This is cr111azy, it’s really so cute]
[General/Trainee: Oh sh1t, I just got it. How could even a newbie come up with this idea? Must be a concept]
[General/GreenWidow: I’ll at least send a heart♡]
[GreenWidow sent a ♡.
Accumulated hearts – 6]
[OldBaby sent a ♡.
Accumulated hearts – 7]
I closed all the constantly popping party invitation windows and strange heart windows, and quickly completed the quest to leave before these people could bother me more.
While killing poison-spewing monsters in the eerie swamp area, suddenly a monster I had never seen before appeared. It was a biped monster covered in blue scales.
I didn’t panic and used skills in succession.
[General/Dragon Captain: …. ]
What’s this? A talking monster?
There are often secret quests in this game, so I thought this might be one and waited for a moment, but the monster didn’t say anything more. It just moved its body slightly, so I started attacking again. The skills weren’t very effective, so I even hit it with the harp I was holding. The monster stopped moving but showed no reaction.
Maybe… is this a bug?
I stood nearby, glaring at the blue-scaled bipedal monster, and finally gave up and left the area.
While doing another quest, I ended up going to that field once more, but the monster was gone. I wonder how it was supposed to be killed. I’m a bit curious about what I should have done.
As I continued doing quests, I eventually left Weak Village and arrived at a place called Heart Village.
Surprisingly, Mino was here too.
I thought Mino might have been sent to this training ground because he still wasn’t listening well, but it turns out he had been upgraded to a higher-level training ground.
「Mino (Apprentice Trainee)
Adventurer Angryy, we meet again here!
Thanks to your encouragement, I was able to make it this far.
Can I ask you for a favor? Here in Heart Village, they say some strange phenomenon occurs under the clock tower at midnight.
I can’t leave the dormitory at that time. I’ve already accumulated penalty points for sneaking out. Hehe.
Could you perhaps find out what this phenomenon is?」
Main Quest
Let’s find out what strange phenomenon occurs under the clock tower in Heart Village at 10 PM.
Reward: 200 EXP]
I was killing monsters in the field and collecting items when night fell, and I headed towards the clock tower. Several people were gathered there, perhaps doing the same quest as me.
When I clicked on the quest marker that was shouting at me to click immediately under the clock tower, surprisingly, a ghost appeared. It was a Western-style ghost covered in a white cloth.
So, this fantasy game also has ghosts. There are demon clans, spirits, and ghosts…. What’s going on with this world setting?
Anyway, when I told Mino about it, he gave me another quest. He wanted me to sneak him out of the dormitory so he could talk to the ghost himself. I wanted to refuse the quest because while I understood young Mino’s interest in ghosts, I wanted him to focus on his training. However, there was no option but to accept. After reluctantly accepting, a series of linked quests followed.
While doing these endless quests, I was startled by a vibration from my phone.
‘My little brother’
I nearly jumped to the ceiling, then calmed down and answered the phone on speaker.
“Yeah, what is it?”
– Hyung, what are you doing? You’re not still stuck to your bed, are you? Please get up and-.
“I’m playing a game.”
– Go for a walk or something…. Huh…. What? You’re playing a game?
“Yeah.”
– Really?
I brought the phone close to the laptop to let Jin, who couldn’t believe it, hear the game’s background music.
– It’s true…. Wow…. You were playing a game. You were gaming late last night too….
“Why, did you forget something again?”
I asked, thinking, Ah, I don’t really want to go out right now.
After a brief pause, Jin said,
– I didn’t forget anything today. Do you think I’m always so careless?
“Then why did you call?”
– I just called in case you were lying around. Eat while you’re gaming.
“Alright. You should eat too. It’s lunchtime.”
– I’m already at the cafeteria. I’m eating sweet potato donkatsu right now.
“Thanks for the TMI. Make sure to eat some salad too.”
– You too. Well, I’ll hang up now.
“Okay.”
I’m glad it wasn’t an errand.
After hanging up, I focused on playing the game again.
My level had already reached 8, but… a problem arose.
Main Quest
Clear the Clock Tower Underground Dungeon
Clear Reward: 500G, 1000 EXP]
I had to enter a place called a dungeon.
Dungeon.
It’s such an unfamiliar word that I can’t even guess what it means. I don’t know what it is, but I went in anyway, only to die at the entrance due to swarms of rat monsters.
I left the dungeon and stood my character dejectedly in front of the clock tower.
I see. This is different from field battles.
Nyang-nyang told me to find party members, but I didn’t want to get involved with other people, so I steeled myself and went in alone again. This time I made it to the middle but died again. Damn, these bastards come at you in swarms, how am I supposed to deal with them?
On the third attempt, I made it to the latter part.
On the fourth and final attempt, I died at about the same place as the third time.
Now I’ve lost all my potions. Both life potions and mana potions….
Beep beep beep.
Games are indeed the worst culture that only causes stress.
I turned off the stress alert on my watch and got up. I lay down on the bed with my back against it, took deep breaths to calm down, then sat back down in front of the laptop.
I’ve become a beggar, what should I do now?
Potions can be bought with gold. So I need to earn gold first.
If I kill monsters roaming in the field to get things like leather and then sell them at the general store, I’ll get 1 gold, and if I do that five times, I’ll have 5 gold…. Then one 20-point life potion….
Do I… have to labor?
The tiresome labor in reality has just ended, and now I have to labor again in virtual space?
Is a human being… created to never escape the shackles of labor as long as they’re alive….
As I was sinking into despair, someone approached me.
[General/Gchang: Hey]
[General/Gchang: Are you perhaps doing the dungeon quest?]
[General/Angryy: Me?]
[General/Gchang: Yes, Angryy ^_^]
[General/Gchang: I’ve been watching you disappear and reappear here for a while]
[General/Angryy: I’m on a quest, why?]
[General/Gchang: ^_^ OMG;]
[General/Gchang: You seem like a newbie]
[General/Gchang: Want some help?]
I’m not curious about how they knew I was a newbie. Everyone could tell at first glance that I had just started. I’ve rejected all offers of help until now.
But now….
I need help.
I looked at the other person’s character with suspicious eyes. It’s good that in games, you can stare openly without the other person knowing.
It was a race called Hoju, twice as big as Angryy, and above the name Gchang was written ‘Pale Ear’ and the English letter M. I wonder what this means. There’s a small star above my name, but this person didn’t have one.
Come to think of it, some people around also had stars above their names while others didn’t.
[General/Gchang: We just got a new member in our guild and we need to enter the dungeon anyway]
[General/Gchang: It would be perfect to go together ^_^]
I wish they would use proper spacing. And I don’t like the cute act either.
[General/Gchang: Ah, I won’t charge for the carry. Not for such a low-level dungeon ㅜ]
[General/MinoIsMine: Huh? Why is Guild Master Chang Gwi going in person? lol]
[General/Gchang: Given the time, there are no guild members available]
[General/Gchang: Angryy, I’ll send you a party invite]
[General/Angryy: Thank you, but I’ll do it alone]
[General/MinoIsMine: lololololololol]
[General/Gchang: ^_^…. ]
[General/MinoIsMine: lololol Rejected]
[General/Gakjong: A newbie with guts]
[General/Gchang: You seem to keep failing though,,^_^ㅠ]
[General/Gakjong: Stop being clingy and let them solo]
[General/Gchang: Isn’t it too hard for a newbie? ㅠ]
[General/Gakjong: Well, it’s not like it’s completely impossible to solo ㅋ]
[General/Gakjong: If you herd the monsters well, even a newbie can do it alone]
[General/MinoIsMine: That’s right lol If you herd the mobs well lol I did it alone too]
[General/Gchang: You guys were rotten from birth ㅠ]
[General/Gakjong: That’s harsh]
[General/MinoIsMine: Please rephrase it as ‘experienced players’ lololol]
They seemed to have fallen into their own conversation, and I was in a situation where I needed to earn money quickly, so I left that place.
I do need help, but even so… I’m sick of people. Please, at least in games, I don’t want to be with people.
Prepared for many failures, I earned a lot of money, stocked up on plenty of potions, and went in again.
‘If you herd the monsters well, even a newbie can do it alone’
‘If you herd the mobs well’
Referring to that chat, instead of dealing with monsters one by one, I herded them well and dealt with them in groups, which was easier than before. Although I ultimately failed to clear it, I gained a bit of confidence and tried again. The result was….
