Chapter 21
The ice-kin began to leave, hoping to get away, before being detected by the strange one, but this other soul-kin would have none of that, as she turned around and began to walk, he shouted at her.
"Don´t ignore me!" Ranbor was getting pissed.
"Why is he that resentful?" The new woman in Ranbor´s entourage asked, Emtsor in a quiet voice.
"He is a high noble, it´s his right, to get his will. Don´t antagonize him and more importantly don´t question his decisions. If you just follow him, you will get far in life." He answered her inquiry.
The ice-kin continued to ignore Ranbor and kept walking, this enraged Ranbor even more.
"I said stop!" Ranbor shouted and followed a few steps after the woman. "Last, warning bitch. If you don´t show me the respect I deserve right now, I will burn you!"
The ice-kin stopped and deflated a bit before turning around, throwing Ranbor an incredulous look, almost as if she wanted to ask if he was this stupid. At this defiant look, Ranbor growled conjuring a fireball.
The ice-kin changed her stance slightly and got ready for the attack, Mor just in time to walk out of the training room to see the impending shitstorm.
"Ranbor! Don´t be..." Mor started to shout, but it was already too late.
°I can´t believe this. He is the definition of a brain-dead idiot.° The human said.
The fireball left Ranbors hand and instead of burning the ice-kin she did something, and steam exploded from her as the fire hit. As the view cleared she stood there holding two long knives, glittering in a slight blue light. She took a deep breath and fixed Ranbor with her gaze.
°Look at that, she´s like a predator, and Ranbor is now her prey." The human said
°This is incredible, how did she defend against the fire?° Mor asked
°I don´t know, but we might find out if this goes on.° The human answered
°No! We need to stop this before it completely goes out of control.° Mor said
°Laaaame!° The human complained but was ignored.
"Ranbor stop this madness, let her be!" Mor shouted and Ranbor threw him an angry look.
"Silence peasant, know your place! Emtsor take care of this nuisance and Anna you will help him. Cornel, you are with me. Let´s show them, that they are lesser than us!" Ranbor growled.
The ice-kin looked surprised at the strange one, the "peasant" as he was called, why did he get himself in trouble for her? Does he have a sense of honor?
°Well now we are in deep shit, good thing we´re not done with our training, and have a good chunk of energy left.° The human said.
°Yes, but we couldn´t just let this happen. It´s wrong!° Mor answered.
°True enough. I´m proud of you, let´s give them hell. The first order of business, get to the ice-woman, if we let the group stay between us, we will be divided and conquered!° The human said and Mor nodded, a slight grin forming on his face.
°Time for a rematch, we beat Emror once and can do so again.° Mor said,
°Yeah, but be careful, this Anna woman is new, we don´t know her capabilities.° The human said.
°Yes, but this time our victory condition is not beating him, but getting away!° Mor said
Anna looked confused and a bit scared to Ranbor and then to the commoner, who started to smile. She didn´t think this was a good idea, they would all get into trouble for this, and because of this, she missed the commoner moving and Emtsor crying out in pain.
Mor exploded into movement, as he did so often, standing still is an invitation to get hit and at the same moment tried something new. He kicked a pebble with all the force his enhanced self could offer and with the guidance of the human, the pebble hit Emtsor in the arm, drawing a cry of pain from the noble.
The strange one had an amazing sense of combat, and the ice-kin knew what he tried. He was right, they needed to link up to not get beaten separately with the enemy numbers advantage. After that, they might be able to do a holdout or separate one and therefore whittle down their numbers.
But Ranbor threw a wrench in their plan by invoking a wall of fire, and shouting "Don´t ignore me!".
Splitting himself, Cornel and the ice-kin from Mor and the other two.
°Shit!° The human exclaimed.
°I have an idea! Take over the running and slide when I give the sign!° Mor said.
°I like this, let´s go! Now you finally have some spunk in you!° The human celebrated
Emtsor tried to hit the running commoner with an air spell but missed because of the pain in his arm, while Anna still stood there stunned.
Mor ran directly towards the flaming barrier and then tripped the momentum sliding him right into the firewall, Emtsor smiled at that, but then the commoner just vanished.
°Now!° Mor said,
And the human threw them in a slide, sliding below the wall of fire, through the earth tunnel Mor had just created, jumping back on his feet on the other side.
°Boo, YA!° The human shouted.
°I thought, that you could use the well-spell not to dig straight down, but along the ground.° Mor said proudly.
The ice-kin was driven into a corner at the onslaught of two fire mages, slowly giving up ground, but still, no spell seemed to connect to her. Suddenly the strange one slid through the wall of fire, blocking their path without suffering a single burn and stumbling to a halt next to her.
"We need to get away, the loud one, is very strong, and an idiot!" The strange one shouted at her
But she shook her head, now they could fight back in this two on two, at least until the fire barrier came down and got them to the backfoot again.
"Why not?!" The strange one shouted, and she smiled at him pointing to the one called Cornel.
"Yours." She simply stated and Mor looked incredulously at her.
°Is she stupid?° Mor asked
°No, she has her own pride, this can´t be just let go, without retaliation.° The human answered.
°I´m getting allergic to this whole pride shit.° Mor complained and the human laughed.
°You wanted to help, and help we will. Let´s get the flunky for her.° The human said, and Mor sighed.
°Battlemaniacs, all of them...° Mor cursed
The wall of flame slowly died down, as it was no longer sustained with magic energy and Mor knew they didn´t have much time, luckily they had gathered a handfull of stones, while sliding through the earth tunnel and now used all of them in a barrage against their opponent, still evading the returning fire, only getting singed a few times. He did hit only a few but they were enough of a distraction to make the fight between the ice-kin and Ranbor a one-on-one.
Ranbor raged, unleashing fire spell after fire spell but never getting through the defenses of the barbarian woman, as she closed in. When finally she was close enough, her elbow crashed into Ranbors stomach and he got swept off his feet by her follow-up low kick. Her daggers found Ranbors throat in an instance, the ice-kin drew a bit of blood and threw Ranbor an ice-cold look.
In the same instance, Cornel dropped crying to his knees, from getting hit by a "rock-thorn" to the groin and Mor breathing heavily and the wall of fire fading completely.
°And be thankful it was not a thrown rock! That one would have shattered your bones, and ended your bloodline!° The human shouted.
°He can´t hear you.° Mor said, looking to the ice-woman.
"We need to get a teacher and explain this." He said
The woman just looked at him, shrugging her shoulders and knocking Ranbor out with the pummel of her dagger. Then standing up and leaving without a word.
°Not even a thank you?!° The human asked.
Mor was standing around confused for a second and realizing to late at they were now in much deeper trouble than before. Because just after the ice-kin was gone a voice behind him asked something and sounded very angered.
"Mister Ruby, Mister Agaton, WHAT DID I TELL YOU?!" Rosana shouted at them, Ranbor blissfully unaware of her fury.
°Fuck this shit.° The human sighed.
°This is unfair!° Mor complained.
"This is not how it looks..." Mor started but got shushed by a furious look from Rosana.
