*** Five years later. ***

- Boy, I'm sorry, but you don't have a quirk.

I looked at the doctor indifferently and raised an eyebrow.

- Guy...

The doctor stifled a groan and looked away.

- ...Don't look at me like that. There's nothing I can do about it. A quirk is either there or it isn't, and in your case ...

- Doc, maybe you can tell me something I don't know.

- ...it just isn't there and....

The Doctor kept talking, but after a couple of seconds he realised what I'd said and froze, looking at me confused.

- You... you know?

- Yeah... since I was a little girl.

- But how?!

- Some arsehole did a DNA test. It's expensive, but it tells you exactly if a kid has a quirk. My genes were completely clean.

- But then.

The doctor was still confused.

- ...why?

- To register a genetic abnormality.

- But you don't have a quirk.....

The doctor was completely confused and my mother was in no hurry to help him and watched our dialogue with interest.

- Same prick....

Slap!

I didn't get hit on the lips too hard.

- Izuku, Hisashi may be a bastard, but you're still a little kid and have no right to express yourself.

I glanced at my mum and nodded.

- Anyway, the biological material donor who shared the sperm for my conception.....

- Heh heh heh heh heh...

Mum coughed and I had to interrupt and the doctor looked at me with a completely fucked up look.

- Doctor is what he calls his dad.

Mum did intervene in the conversation, but didn't say anything more.

- He's not my father.

I looked at Inko.

- I'd understand if he'd accidentally brought the spider he was experimenting on, but the police interrogation, as you know, showed that he'd brought the spider on purpose. And the chance of my survival, in his opinion, was about twenty per cent.

I looked sternly at Mum.

- So, he brought a spider from work and let it bite me. The spider was drugged with some chemicals and irradiated with some waves, I don't know what they were, but I spent some time in the hospital, and when I recovered.....

I got up from my chair and walked round to the doctor, and then I glued my fingers to his chair and lifted the chair with the doctor, and after a couple of seconds I held it above my head.

- ...something like this.

- Y-you couldn't put me down, could you?

I lowered the doctor down just as gently.

- Yep...

He turned to his computer and opened my profile.

- So it's a genetic disorder?

- Yeah.

- Just give it a moment...

He spent a couple of minutes entering data into the computer.

- So what do we call your abnormality?

I sighed.

- Do we have to?

- М?

- Well, it's stupid to give every new genetic abnormality that will never manifest itself in anyone else a name.

- That's not for us to decide, that's the registration procedure.

I sighed.

- Write: 'Spider Powers.'

- You're sure it won't be possible to change the name.

- I'm sure.

- Okay. Okay.

Another minute and my mum was handed a printed sheet confirming that my features had been registered.

- That's it.

- Thank you.

My mother and I thanked the doctor at the same time and, as agreed, after the doctor's visit we went to the nearest restaurant, where I was going to eat something delicious and definitely not Japanese. For these six years I could not love Japanese cuisine and at any chance I tried to eat more usual for me cuisine.

When I got to the restaurant, I happily ordered a kebab and fries, as well as some extremely hearty salads, and popped a couple of pills of concentrated supplements and vitamins into my mouth. Still, with my metabolism, it's very hard to get full, so I have to--

- What did you eat?

Next to our table was a girl my age, long green hair, big eyes and a certain detachment on her face.

- This?

I showed her a packet of pills.

- Yeah...

She nodded her head.

- It's a concentrate that allows me to get enough calories.

The girl tilted her head thoughtfully to the side.

- What are calories?

My mum stepped aside, I noticed as she sat down with the two adults, my dad looked like a humanoid toad. The woman on the other hand... she looked remotely like a girl.

- You don't want to talk to me because I'm weird? That's sad.

My hesitation was misunderstood.

- Not at all...

I'm shaking my head.

- ...Calories...

I scratched my cheek.

- You like to eat?

- Yeah...

The girl nodded and licked her lips showing her overly long tongue.

- When you eat, right here...

I'm pointing to where the stomach is roughly.

- ...in your stomach, the food dissolves into tiny little particles. That's what fuels your body. Gives it energy.

- Like batteries?

- Yeah.

I nodded my head.

- ...very similar. And it's those batteries that I'm short on. So I have to take pills.

The girl thoughtfully nodded her head and sat down on the chair next to me, and a couple of minutes later we were brought salads. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed that the girl's mother and parents, and I didn't doubt that they were the parents, were sitting at the same table, and they were also receiving portions of their orders.

- My name is Izuku Midoriya, and you are?

- Tsuyu Asui.

- That's a beautiful name...

- Thank you, it's my pleasure, and I'm a little embarrassed.

- М?

I looked at the little girl in surprise.

- M-m-m-m...

She tilted her head to the side.

- Mum said... what about this... my face can't express this....

The little girl was having a hard time, but I already understood what she meant.

- Can't express emotions?

She frowned.

- No...

- Can't express all emotions? Can only express the strongest ones?

- Yes!

She nodded, and I could see that even though her eyes were beaming with joy that I understood her, her face didn't show the full force of her emotions.

- Is that why you sometimes voice your emotions?

- Yeah. Mum said it helps with communication. She said I should be direct.

- Can you be direct?

- Yes! I'm glad! You got me!

We spent some time chatting for a while, and the girl was surprisingly easy to talk to. She had a way with her demeanour and openness. And she did most of the talking, while I listened and answered her questions.

- Where do you study?

- At home...

I shrugged as if it was a matter of course.

- ...Mum hired tutors and they teach me.

- But it's not right! I resent it!

I was amused by her behaviour and the way she jumped up from her chair and stood in front of me with her arms at her sides. Her face remained almost emotionless, reflecting only a fraction of her emotions.

- Mum says everyone needs... this... what's-her-name... sosylisation! Here!

She stuck her chest out in a cartwheel.

- I'm good! I know such hard words!

I smiled.

- Maybe socialisation?

Her face hardly changed, but her posture and look... it was immediately clear I was offended.

- You're so cute...

I jumped down from my chair and walked over to her and grabbed her cheeks, pulling them gently apart.

- Don't-na-do...

I let go of her cheeks and she immediately jumped away from me.

- Why did you do that?

- You were just really cute.

- Me? Cute? Honestly, honestly? It's just that other people tend to call me weird or-

I shook my head, seeing in the girl's eyes that she was getting upset about the subject.

- You're cute, that's a fact.

- I... thank you...

The next dishes were brought to us and we sat down at the table. Now I was asking questions, which I used to stir up the little girl.

- Hey!

It's about time!

- You have your own!

- Yours tastes better!

Her tongue again shot forward exactly to a piece of meat that I poked on my fork, I could certainly dodge and send the meat to my mouth, but.....

I sadly passed the piece of meat, which was embraced by the tongue of the little girl disappeared into her mouth. However, I was sad only for her, but it was more important to cheer up this cutie, making her forget about the unpleasant topic than to fill her belly.

- Hey, what's the matter? Did I offend you? I really didn't mean to! I'm sorry!

I turned away from her, and she was beside me again, and she put a piece of meat on the fork I had placed on the table and brought it to my mouth.

I looked suspiciously at the piece of meat and then at the girl.

- Well I really won't do it again. Honestly, honestly!

I grasped the meat with my teeth carefully watching her actions, she took the fork out of the piece I held with my teeth and poked a new piece.

- You're not offended anymore?

I chewed and swallowed and decided to answer her.

- No... it's impossible to be offended by you.

- Really? I'm glad!

She let me eat another bite and while I chewed she watched me closely.

- And you... I am very much shy... but will you be my friend?

- Of course I will!

Yay!

She threw herself around my neck and hugged me tightly.
