Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1361: Manipulated Star Beasts

Chapter 1361: Manipulated Star Beasts

Shang Xia had also understood that the region of clam space around a world was related to how powerful the world was.

Steams of chaotic space usually separated the regions of calm space around worlds.

If several worlds wanted to interact with each other, they would either have to establish a safe passage through the chaotic streams, or they would have to create some sort of teleportation formation between the worlds.

During the long exploration stage, high-level experts of the various worlds soon discovered that the stronger the worlds, the more difficult it would be to enter the streams of chaotic space.

As a world continued to grow, they would definitely experience massive battles and invasion attempts. They would interact with many worlds and there would be some who would turn into allies. In the end, those allies would establish a region called a Heavenly Field.

For example, the Essence Xing World and several lower leveled worlds around it established a region called the Essence Xing Heavenly Field.

A Heavenly Field was different from the Heaven Observation Field that contained the Spirit Luxuriant World. The former was a region of space that was formed by an alliance between various worlds, and even though there were streams of chaotic space protecting their Heavenly Field, it wasn’t created artificially.

The Heaven Observation Field was different. Other than a separation from the rest of the sea of stars, they also had a spatial barrier protecting it. It stopped anyone outside and prevented its exact location from being found.

The experts of the Essence Ming World and Essence Hong World once tried to look for the Heaven Observation Field, but they were unable to locate it.

Of course, there was another part that differentiated the Heaven Observation Field from a Heavenly Field. There was no Essence World in the Heaven Observation Field and the Star Origin Dao Field filled in the role of an Essence World in there.

Shang Xia had been observing outside the Star Ship along the way and in their time traveling, he noticed that they passed through 2 other weaker chaotic streams of space. That would also mean that they had passed at least 2 weaker worlds.

During the entire process, perhaps it was because of the weaker chaotic streams, the fleet wasn’t affected much and the journey was smooth. Shang Xia was able to continue crafting talismans without much impact.

The only time he felt a strong bump was when they entered the chaotic streams surrounding the Essence Xing World.

After a short pause, Shang Xia left his cabin.

There were at least 300 members of the Wanyun Association on board the massive Star Ship, and all of them were in the Martial Intent Realm or higher. In the other Star Ships, there should be 200 or so members of comparable strength. As such, one could see the strong foundations of the faction.

Every single member on the Star Ship had their jobs, and they weren’t flustered in the slightest when they entered the streams of chaotic space. It was clear they had everything under control.

Shang Xia walked around the ship and quickly saw Gong Zhuo hurrying over to him.

“True Immortal Shang, is something the matter? Or do you have any instructions for us?” Gong Zhuo seemed a lot more respectful after learning from Zhang Shun that Shang Xia had already reached the level of Returning to the Origin.

Shang Xia chuckled in response, “There’s nothing much. It’s just that I felt the rush when we entered the stream of chaotic space. I came to see if I could be of any help.”

Gong Zhuo seemed to heave a sigh of relief as he laughed, “With your presence, we are a lot more assured of traveling through the streams of chaotic space. However, we have just entered the chaotic streams and it’s far from what we will experience deeper in the sea of stars. It's also far from what we are capable of withstanding.”

“That is great. If there is anything you need my help with, feel free to ask. Aren’t we all on the same boat now?” Shang Xia chuckled and nodded slowly.

Gong Zhuo reacted with a grateful smile. “Actually... I was about to come and ask you to help us with something...”

Seeing the strange look on Shang Xia’s face, Gong Zhuo forced a chuckle, “I won’t hide anything from you... The streams of chaotic space aren't difficult to deal with. It’s the attack from high-level Star Beasts that we are afraid of. The chaotic space affects our senses, but Star Beasts are like fishes in water.”

Shang Xia was surprised by his revelation, but he reacted quickly and managed to avoid showing any signs of his shock.

He experienced 2 Star Beast invasions in the past, but both times, he didn’t fight them in the chaotic streams of space. He fought them in their nest at best, and he was able to quickly deal with the threat.

Hearing what Gong Zhuo said, it was clear that the threat of Star Beasts in the chaotic streams of space would be even greater. When that happened, even the fleet might be threatened. That was probably why they needed to ask him for help.

“Of course. I will take care of it.” Shang Xia agreed readily before asking another question of his own, “Will there be frequent attacks when we are still so close to the Essence Xing World?”

Perhaps it had something to do with how easily Shang Xia agreed, but Gong Zhuo felt a lot more reassured. He continued to walk alongside Shang Xia as he strolled around the Star Ship and explained, “That’s not the case. Our Essence Xing Heavenly Field has several safe routes to other worlds, and there would be high-level True Immortals and several squads patrolling to ensure everything is safe by killing Star Beasts they come across. However, we’re not traveling through those routes now and strictly speaking, this can be considered a way to sneak across the worlds without being discovered. We only learned about this path after paying a huge price and it wouldn’t be as safe as the paths already established.”

Shang Xia nodded slowly. It wasn’t as though he knew nothing about the streams of chaotic space around the worlds. He heard Song Zhen speak about it before. When Song Zhen traveled around the Essence Ming Heavenly Field, he traveled around those fixed paths which were protected by high-level experts. Of course, he couldn’t use them for free.

The Wanyun Association’s actions were secret, and even Zhang Shun’s presence wasn’t revealed to anyone. There was no way anyone knew their plan to establish the 34th continent in the Essence Xing World. As such, the route they took was definitely an unknown one.

As they spoke, they arrived at the deck of the Star Ship. It was located close to the streams of chaotic space around them, and Shang Xia could even feel their impact on the body of the ship. Even the shaking felt a lot stronger when he was standing on the deck compared to his cabin.

Of course, those were no danger to a high-level True Immortal like Shang Xia.

Standing on the deck, Shang Xia could clearly see a layer of light covering the ship.

Behind it, the other 6 Star Ships formed a line as all of them seemed connected to the light glow around the massive Star Ship. It was a massive system that connected them all, and by lining up, they could reduce the impact of the chaotic streams on the Star Ships behind.

Shang Xia and Gong Zhuo stood on the deck without bothering to protect themselves. As he observed everything around him, Shang Xia turned to ask, “Is Director Zhang on the last Star Ship?”

A look of shock flashed across Gong Zhuo’s eyes, but he didn’t hide anything from Shang Xia like he said. “That is right. Director Zhang said that Star Beasts aren’t fools. They have high intelligence, but fortunately, at the end of the day, they are still beasts. They wouldn’t choose the middle few ships if they were to attack and the ships with the highest probability of being hit are the first and last. Also... Since the larger the ship, the stronger it will look to them, they would probably attack the final ship.”

“Ordinarily speaking, Director Zhang’s analysis should convince me.” Shang Xia continued, “However... There is something I need to confirm.”

“What is it?” Gong Zhuo gasped in shock.

Slowly rising from the deck of the ship, Shang Xia asked suddenly, “What I want to confirm is... If a Star Beast pack can be controlled by someone.”

“What?! How is that possible?” Gong Zhuo wanted to ask about how even if someone could control those beasts, why would they be able to locate the fleet that had hidden its tracks? However, he discovered that Shang Xia had already run to the Star Ships before he could react.

All of a sudden, the void above the fourth ship turned calm as a massive Star Beast appeared above their light screen barrier. It opened its mouth and chomped down, crushing the structures of the ship above deck when Shang Xia barely reached the third ship.
