Chapter 11: Traversing Worlds

Over a month had passed.

Fang Xing walked slowly down the street, his pace suddenly decreasing.

He found himself back at the platform from that day.

After a month of frantic repairs, the place was now smooth and the buildings well-organized. The flood of pedestrians was a stark contrast to the chaos that had reigned here before.

It was hard to believe that just over a month ago, this place had been a ravaged battlefield, resulting in thousands of casualties.

Arriving at his home at Happiness Garden Complex, Fang Xing opened the door, unable to resist a complaint, "Considering what happened, there's no compensation, and the landlord won't even lower the rent..."

He opened a lunch box, devouring the food as he checked his contact list.

Seeing no message from Gu Yun, his heart sank.

Yet, Fang Xing knew well that as just her sparring partner, he had no standing to comfort her, nor did she need his consolation.

To truly comfort her, he would have to revive Gu Renwang—anything less seemed futile.

"Believe in her. She’ll find her way through this," he sighed, washed up briefly, and collapsed into bed.

The next day,

Early morning,

With a sense of anticipation, he checked his stats panel:

【Name: Fang Xing】

【Age: 16】

【Profession: Martial Artist】

【First Realm: Skin and Flesh】

【Military Fist Twelve Stances: 1/100】

【Big Dragon Post: 13/100】

【Gate of Myriad Worlds: 100/100】

In that instant, a mirror-like symbol in Fang Xing's mind suddenly radiated with intense light!

Some inexplicable information surfaced, letting him know that he had gained the ability to travel to another world! As long as he activated it, he could traverse worlds!

Fang Xing's gaze shifted to the bottom of his status panel:

【Gate of Myriad Worlds】

“So the capture progress bar is gone? I thought I'd either capture the next world directly or have to stay in another world for a hundred days before returning…”

“Unexpectedly, after the progress bar is completed, you gain the privilege of traveling back and forth between worlds. I wonder when the capture of the second world will begin…”

Still, it's convenient, otherwise, if he had to stay in an alternate world for a hundred days to return, he truly wouldn’t know how to cover it up.

Fang Xing took a deep breath and pulled out the tools he had bought one by one.

A drone, air detection device, poison test strips, a selfie stick, and a pet cage containing a few white mice…

He was wearing a basic nano protective suit, and besides that, his most important weapon.

To ease his mind, he drew a large black stick from under the bed… no, it was an electric baton.

A laser gun was unaffordable, so this RT700 electric baton was the most suitable weapon he could find, and he had worked hard to earn it.

At this moment, Fang Xing picked up the electric baton, noting its length of about 70 centimeters, with a suitable thickness and weight. It was very practical.

Most importantly, when he pressed the button, a burst of electric spark erupted from the end of the baton!

Crackle!

“According to the seller, a regular current can directly knock down an elephant… and that’s just the normal function.”

“Furthermore, this baton has been modified to release a current from the tip… although the distance is short, it can still catch others off guard.

Fastening the baton to his waist, Fang Xing had the nano suit cover his entire body, and then picked up his backpack, organizing his supplies into categories.

“Based on the Gate of Myriad Worlds information, it seems I have to jump over immediately, I can’t open a portal or anything… the selfie stick is useless.”

Fang Xing let out a sigh of emotion before concentrating his thoughts.

One, two, three…

As he silently counted to three, a silver-white radiance appeared before his eyes.

This radiance swallowed him up in an instant…

The bedroom was now devoid of Fang Xing’s presence.

In a primeval jungle.

A lizard monster with two heads suddenly raised its gaze, only to see a flash of silver-white electricity.

Snap!

In the next moment, an electric current shot across the sky, reducing it to a charred husk.

"I guess I was… too cautious."

Fang Xing looked at the palm-sized, two-headed lizard corpse, but did not deactivate his nanotech suit.

"I really did traverse worlds…"

At this moment, he was quickly surveying his surroundings while checking the path back.

"Hmm… I can teleport back, but there’s about a three-second delay. Unfortunately, it can't be used for instant escape, losing a life-saving skill…"

Accompanied by the analysis from his instruments, results soon appeared.

"Nitrogen is dominant, oxygen content at 22%, rare gases at 1.2%, and 0.0001% of completely undetectable elements? But generally confirmed there are no toxic or harmful gases…"

Fang Xing looked at the lively mouse in the cage beside him, hesitated briefly, and then opened his nano-mask.

"Hmm, can breathe normally, the air is very fresh..."

By this time, the drone had already transmitted images of the surroundings back. He could see a vast jungle, emerald green and pristine, with a river winding through it like a jade belt.

In a clearing, a beast like a wild boar was running.

It was over six or seven meters in size, resembling a small mountain, with six boar tusks growing side by side. Strangely, these tusks emitted a mysterious blood-red glow as if made of ivory.

"Extraordinary creatures? And not just one..."

Fang Xing's eyes lit up. "It seems this world is rich in resources… Setting to automatic cruise mode."

After a moment’s thought, he quickly programmed the drone to enter automatic cruise mode, assigning it tasks to create a map of the area and search for other life forms.

"To be safe, these tech products will never be brought back to the world of the Blue Star Federation."

Fang Xing made a firm mental note.

Despite his extensive preparations, he couldn’t be sure whether any of these devices had hidden backdoors.

Therefore, it was best not to test human nature and assume they did.

By leaving these items in the alternate world, there would be no risk of data leaks upon return!

"Alas… in a technologically advanced world, things are complicated."

"Even if I acquire resources from here, it would be difficult to offload them…"

After all, Fang Xing was just an ordinary student. How could he explain suddenly acquiring strange items or a sudden spike in wealth?

"I need a channel through which I can convert these into cash, or untraceable accounts… a way to offload large quantities of goods…"

"It seems I'll have to deal with the black market."

Fang Xing sighed, studying the drone-scanned map for a suitable location to set up camp.

Site selection also required knowledge: close to a water source, yet safe.

He had taken similar courses before, so it was manageable.

Half an hour later, Fang Xing fetched some river water, poured it into a pot, and let it simmer, watching as skewered birds and fish roasted over the fire.

These meals were easily gathered, as small animals were unusually abundant in this forest.

Of course, the river wasn't entirely safe, as the drone’s glimpse showed a shadow of a massive serpent, dozens of meters long, sliding through one section of the river.

Given the primitive environment, Fang Xing used available materials, roasting birds and fish—river fish that were over half a meter long, with strong, dense bones, also making fish soup.

Additionally, he gathered berries and mushrooms from nearby bushes.

With the meal prepared, Fang Xing didn’t start eating but first took out test strips to check for toxins.

"Hmm, there seems to be no problem with the bird and fish meat..."

"The mushrooms seem fine too, but... damn, these berries are actually poisonous?"

Looking at the feedback from the test paper, Fang Xing felt a bit conflicted. "It seems that my first meal in this other world is a no-go... Guess I'll have to order takeout again when I get back..."

"But to harness the resources of this world, I'll have to go through the process in the future... After the test paper, the next step is using lab mice!"

He took some bird and fish meat over to feed the pioneer lab mice.

As explorers of this new world, these mice were the vanguard, taking on the risks for Fang Xing.

Fang Xing waited for half an hour and observed that the mice showed no adverse reactions after eating the meat, nodding to himself. "I'll watch them for another day... Then I'll try feeding them the berries tomorrow. I'm curious about how potent this poison really is. It might even work for eradicating mice..."

"After setting up control groups for observation, I can take back a small amount of food and look for a chance to taste-test it next to the school infirmary..."

Watching the mice eat meat and drink soup, Fang Xing felt hunger creeping up on him. Unable to wait for the takeout, he quietly munched on his own supply of biscuits, even drinking bottled water he brought himself.

"I must admit, this meat smells pretty good... It's quite appetizing just from the aroma."

After filling his stomach and quenching his thirst, he stood up and habitually assumed the position for his Dargon Stance.

The Dargon Stance, at his current proficient level, was the cornerstone of Fang Xing's martial arts progress, a practice not to be skipped even for a day.

"Hmm?"

This time, he clearly sensed something different.

"Is it an illusion? If it were just the beginner level of the Dargon Stance, I might not have noticed... But it seems like my vital energy is flowing slightly more vigorously?"

With a thought, Fang Xing immediately glanced at his status screen:

【Dargon Stance: 14/100】

"The proficiency in my stance has increased by a point? Didn't it just increase yesterday? Normally, it takes two to three days for my Dargon Stance proficiency to increase."

"The feeling in my vital energy might be an illusion, but the data on the proficiency panel doesn't lie..."

Fang Xing seemed to realize something, gazing somewhat greedily at the land and sky surrounding him.

At this moment, the mountains and waters appeared uniquely alluring in his eyes. "I've heard that on different planets, the speed of cultivation can vary... Some cosmic sanctuaries are filled with boundless universal energy, where training progresses by leaps and bounds. Many universities in the Federation are established within such cosmic sanctuaries."

“This might not compare to some cosmic secret domain... but it’s clearly more abundant in universal energy than what’s found on fledgling stars?”

“Practicing martial arts in this strange world actually gives a bonus?”

“What secrets could still be hidden here?”
