Chapter 104: Convincing
Capital, Hive Sub-base.
Standing in the dimly lit chamber, Shino and Karina watched the beautiful, mature woman slowly being lowered to the ground by a web of appendages, her alluring figure on full display, only partially obscured by her flowing black hair.
Falling to kneel on one knee, her eyes fluttered open, revealing a deep shade of red. She locked her gaze onto her former student. With a calm voice, she muttered, "So, it was you, Shino."
Shino couldn't help but grin at the sight of his former teacher, Kurenai. "Yes, it's me... sensei."
Kurenai bowed her head with a calm facade, raising an arm to partially cover herself. However, her actions only seemed to ignite a fire within someone present.
Shino watched with keen interest, appreciating every detail of her fair form. It wasn't an hourglass figure, but as a jonin with decent amount of training, she had healthy curves, and plumpness exactly where they need to be.
Unable to resist, Shino approached Kurenai, his steps deliberate and slow.
Towering before her, he lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. An evil grin crept upon his face as he declared, "There's no need to hide."
Kurenai bit her lip, struggling with conflicting emotions. After a momentary pause, she exhaled a defeated sigh and calmly replied in a tinged with vulnerability, "I can be yours to command, but... I have a request."
"Oh?" Interest flickered in Shino's eyes, "Tell me."
"Please leave Asuma out of this." Kurenai's resolute, red eyes bore into him, ablaze with firm conviction to sacrifice herself.
Shino frowned subtly, turning his gaze toward Karina. "Why is Kurenai still affected by her emotions?"
Karina giggled mischievously.
"Shino, isn't it more fun this way? Emotions can be a powerful tool, especially when wielded during... emotional activities. I was sure my dear would find much more enjoyment this way..."
Fun? Shino looked back at the beautiful Kurenai, his eyes sweeping over her contours. Some fun scenes irresistibly popped into Shino's mind.
Oh... indeed. Man, Karina knows his tastes well.
Shino observed his beautiful teacher for a bit longer before finally agreeing to her request. "Very well, consider it done, but..."
Shino continued with an unsettling sense of detachment, "Remember, every decision comes with consequences. I won't bother with him, which means I will also not interfere with what will really happen..."
Kurenai understood his cryptic hint almost instantly. Panic flickered in her eyes, yet she still did her best to adopted a facade of calmness.
However, weak begging betrayed her desperation, "Shino... please, save Asuma."
"You're asking for an awful lot," Shino's expression remained unchanged, his thumb gently rubbing Kurenai's plump red lips, "Well, looking at our teacher-student relationship, it's not impossible. But..."
Shino's eyes glinted with a mixture of expectation and desire, "That will depend on your performance later."
Knowing full well what Shino wanted, Kurenai averted her face to the side to avoid his touch, her internal struggle visible on her face. She bit her lip, torn between the beckon of the forbidden trade and the weight of her conscience.
He was her student, but...
After a momentary hesitation, she nodded slowly, her red eyes returning to meet Shino's heated gaze. Her trembling hand rose hesitantly towards his pants, as if seeking permission.
A satisfied smile appeared on Shino's lips, but he reached out stop her.
"Not now," Shino whispered, his voice a seductive caress. "This is but a mere clone."
A wave of relief washed over Kurenai, her trembling hand falling back to her side.
But right after, she inhaled sharply, her breath catching in her throat when she saw Shino leaning in, his warm breath tickling her ear as he softly whispered, "Prepare yourself well, my dear teacher. Complete your first mission, and then, I will welcome you."
Kurenai's heart sunk, a mixture of sadness and disappointment flooding her.
However, she maintained her professional calmness, immediately steering the conversation toward the important matter, "What mission?"
...
Some time later, on top of a feudal building in the heart of the capital city...
Shino's clone stood with Karina's clone by his side and Kurenai, the seasoned kunoichi now under their control, standing silently behind them.
Together, they gazed down upon the bustling feudal streets below, the vibrant hub of political power and intrigue.
The wind danced through the alleyways, carrying the whispers of hidden agendas and dark alliances, countless thoughts intertwining in a secret network of communication...
Now, another mastermind was ready to officially join the game.
"Karina, how is the progress on the arrangements for dealing with the nobles? Have our bugs infiltrated their dwellings and gathered the necessary information?"
Karina nodded, pulling up a couple of holograms relevant to their mission. "Affirmative, Shino. After analyzing the nobles with the intel from our bugs, I've identified those who will be the most vulnerable and ripe for targeting."
Scanning the portraits of nobles with pudgy faces and seeing the good life they were having in their mansion in the live-feed, Shino was a bit irked. So, he commanded, "The nobles have already begun targeting our newly established gang. We cannot afford to waste any more time. Karina, make the preparations. Let's strike first and find ourselves a support."
Kurenai, who was deep in thought with her head bowed, suddenly looked up and interjected, "Shino, remember that as ninjas, we should not interfere in the internal disputes of the daimyo and nobles. By breaking these rules, you risk facing severe consequences if our actions are discovered."
"Of course I understand the risks, but they can't say anything if I am just doing our mission." Shino chuckled slyly.
"The mission?" Kurenai's confusion was evident, "But Shino, what does the current mission have to do with the political web of the nobles?"
A faint smile played on Shino's lips as he unveiled the truth behind their mission.
"Our mission is not solely to investigate a serial murder case or a mere gang fight. It was actually falsely disguised as a serial murder case, when in reality, it is a power struggle. The rise of the Shin gang encroached upon the nobles' interests. The nobles who secretly supported the other gangs have sent their own private ninjas to eliminate our gang, but failed. So, they had outsourced this mission to Konoha in hopes of solving their dispute. Simple as that."
This... is the unfortunate reality of the current system. The ninja and daimyo systems intertwine, each supporting the other. The daimyo provide financial support to the ninjas and maintain administrative support over the regular citizens, while the ninjas serve as their military arm...
Understanding dawned upon Kurenai, and she quickly realized the far-reaching implications of her genin team's assignment.
Kurenai sighed softly in resignation, "Asuma once told me about the darker occurrences within the noble system when he served the daimyo. This commission is merely the tip of the iceberg. But Shino, you still shouldn't interfere. Remember, I've taught you three to not meddle in mundane affairs lest it brings unnecessary political trouble."
Adjusting her glasses, Karina took the chance to establish her authority by admonishing the new advisor, "Kurenai, don't forget, you are now a part of the hive. Instead of being bound by the ninja code, you now must take Shino as your utmost priority. Start thinking from our perspective. In others' eyes, the nobles are manipulating the ninjas to settle their internal disputes while maintaining a facade of innocence. But to us, this is a matter of self-defense."
Kurenai pursed her lips for a moment before her gaze shifted to Shino, probing for answers, "How do you plan to deal with this tangled web, Shino? If you are looking for a noble to support your gang, you should be wary of their schemes. These nobles, none of them are fuel efficient lamps. Their loyalty can't be held accountable."
Her warning held true, yet this was something he and Karina had long accounted for.
With a sly grin, Shino responded, his voice dripping with confidence. "There's no need to worry about loyalty, Kurenai. We have a plan in motion. Karina, show her."
Karina nodded. After setting some permissions in the system, she let a holographic display materialize right in front of Kurenai, startling her so much that she instinctively leaped back, only to see the screen following her.
Seeing this, Karina rolled her eyes, "No need to overreact. This will be how you get your mission briefings from now on."
"This..." Seeing no danger, the seasoned kunoichi quickly regained her composure, her eyes quickly scanning the esoteric knowledge displayed in the briefing.
Leaving Kurenai to her own device, Karina continued her report. "Shino, our infestors are ready. Once we select the optimal targets, our zerg and bugs laying in wait will neutralize the ninja guards and bring the unsuspecting noble under our control. After the implantation, an outpost will be established below the mansion to facilitate permanent control. It won't be long before our plan is set into motion."
"Good." Karina was efficient as always. Shino then threw a glance at his new advisor, "What do you think, Kurenai?"
Kurenai was speechless for a moment before she sighed, "Shino, you've hidden your cards really deeply. It seems I'm worrying too much as a teacher."
"Naturally." Shino looked forward with a bored expression. "There are many watching in the dark. Only with enough hidden hands can I adapt to the changing circumstances... Well, you can check our methods in the database when you have time and get caught up to speed. For now, worry less about unnecessary matters. Instead, think about how to play your role well."
A heavy silence descended upon the trio as they contemplated the weight of their choices.
Suddenly, Karina perked up, and she pulled up a live video before their eyes. "Shino, there's a situation over at your clone's side. She is getting impatient."
"Oh?" Shino's gaze flitted between the holographic display and Kurenai, a subtle yet intriguing smile gracing his lips, "It seems there is a chance for you to play your role now, Kurenai. I'm sure you know what to say and what not to do."
"Understood."
"Go. I look forward to your performance."
Kurenai nodded, activating her Hiding in Surface technique to gracefully meld into the earth, vanishing from sight.
With a cryptic smile, Shino's eyes followed the hidden Kurenai as she slipped away, "I hope she can bring back what we need."
Karina's confidently assured him, "You need not worry, Shino. With the additional two clone units of computational power from her assimilation, I will ensure that Kurenai accomplishes the task at hand."
"Good."
With the final satisfied acknowledgment lingering in the air, both their presence evaporated into thin air, their forms astonishingly shattering into swarms of bugs.
The buzzing horde scattered, becoming one with the sprawling city below, setting off on their prearranged missions...
The winds of change blow across the capital. Now, it was just a matter of time before darkness arrives...
