Chapter 892: Chapter 889: Do You Like Xu Ran?_1
"So what exactly do you want to do?" The Goddess of Kindness, knowing she was at fault, just wanted to brush past the matter quickly.
She stopped arguing with Gu Yuena and also retracted her divine power, no longer wishing to continue the fight.
"Oh? Why aren't you fighting anymore? Weren't you so full of yourself just now? Life Goddess, both the Destruction God and the Evil God seem to be in the lower realm. If you keep up the fight with me, you might draw their attention here. Then, poor me, Gu Yuena, will be in a dire situation. Even if I, Gu Yuena, am strong, under the threat of the four supreme gods, I would have nowhere to lay my body upon death. What do you think?" Gu Yuena spoke unrelentingly, now that she had the upper hand.
Hiding for countless years in the Lake of Life, harboring endless resentment, she burst out now, and the Goddess of Kindness could not withstand it.
Actually, Gu Yuena was quite easy to talk to, but don't forget she and the Goddess of Kindness were rivals.
It wasn't just because of the Dragon God and the Divine Realm; even in the future, when she and the Goddess of Kindness would both be Xu Ran's wives, they would still compete for his favor.
Therefore, she was naturally happy to suppress the Goddess of Kindness as cruelly as she could now.
She even wanted to hold this trump card over her for a lifetime, bullying her, so that later, when she was with Xu Ran, she would have an extra set of hands to help her.
From Xu Ran's tone before, Xu Ran seemed to want to give all five Divine King godhoods of the Divine Realm to the women by his side, and then she could face her in rivalry again. She was not willing to allow this; if she could pull the Goddess of Kindness to her side, then she would become the most powerful in the Divine Realm besides Xu Ran. Then gaining more of Xu Ran's favor would presumably be much easier.
"I... I don't want to quarrel with you. Continuing to fight with you now is pointless," said the Goddess of Kindness.
"I'm afraid you are worried that calling your little group of friends over could reveal the unspeakable things you did, and they would see you in a new light from then on. That's why you stopped, right? And that's why you came up with such a nice-sounding excuse? As if I was deliberately bullying you."
"What exactly do you want?"
The Goddess of Kindness lifted her pale cheeks, looking frailly at Gu Yuena. Her heart was filled with frustration, anger, and shame, a mix of complicated emotions.
She had thought about the consequences when she witnessed those things.
But at the time, she always hoped against hope, thinking perhaps they didn't know?
Perhaps...
It was like an addictive thing that, once done, made her lose her rationality. Even though she knew the potential consequences, she just couldn't control herself and even felt that being discovered would be even more thrilling.
"First, call me 'Sister Na'er' and let me hear it?"
Gu Yuena stretched languidly, opening her arms wide, her perfectly voluptuous figure in full view.
"Gu Yuena, don't go too far!" The Goddess of Kindness looked at Gu Yuena aggrievedly, clenching her small fists, hating Gu Yuena to the core of her being.
She was actually being asked to call Gu Yuena 'sister'?
What was her status? A high and mighty Divine King; even if she weren't a Divine King, even as a mere god who had reached that realm, she would be extremely proud and wouldn't do such a thing even in the face of someone stronger than herself.
"Too far?" Gu Yuena's enchanting voice reached the ears of the Goddess of Kindness.
"Even if it means death, I will never be humiliated. Don't even think about belittling me in such a way," the Goddess of Kindness said, puffing up with anger.
"Death? Do you want to take your own life? But what would that achieve? It would only confirm that you, Kindness, truly did those things that wronged me. If you don't die, maybe those people will only have their suspicions. But once you die, all gods in the Divine Realm will understand."
"Tsk, tsk. Just think about it," scoffed Gu Yuena. "The Goddess of Kindness, representing goodness and justice, has such a secretive side to her. Behind that pure and untouchable facade, she enjoys spying on others..." Gu Yuena spoke casually, leaving the Goddess of Kindness at a loss for words.
The Goddess of Kindness became even more panicked.
Clearly, what Gu Yuena had mentioned frightened her even more.
Would she have to live with such rumors and gossip? Yet if she chose death, it wouldn't be gossip anymore, but a cold fact.
"Gu Yuena, what will it take for you to keep this to yourself? If you choose to forget this, I, Shan Liang, owe you a favor. Should the gods of the Divine Realm unite against you in the future, I, Shan Liang, swear not to join them," the Goddess of Kindness pleaded.
"First, call me 'sister' and with a humble attitude," Gu Yuena said lazily, stifling a yawn. "Remember you're the one asking me, not the other way around. I don't like this high and mighty act you're putting on."
"Na'er sister," said the Goddess of Kindness.
Her face flushed with embarrassment, it was the first time she had been spoken to with such a reproachful tone. But she was powerless to do anything else. After a long while, the Goddess of Kindness softly and weakly voiced her plea.
"Louder, I didn't hear you," Gu Yuena replied faintly.
"Gu Yuena, you..."
The Goddess of Kindness was furious and felt humiliated. For the first time, she felt like crying, but she held back the tears as they reached the corners of her eyes. She couldn't cry; it would be a sign of weakness, and as a Divine King, she must not shed tears.
"Na'er sister," the Goddess of Kindness called again, a bit louder this time, her voice clear in Gu Yuena's ears.
"Good girl," Gu Yuena said with a victorious smile, delighted with the Goddess of Kindness's submission.
Seeing her old adversary now so humbly begging her brought great joy.
The thrill she felt was even greater than when her "Cultivation Level" had increased.
At this moment, she felt so triumphantly sure that, despite Xu Ran having countless confidantes, soon enough they would all bow their heads just like the Goddess of Kindness, serving her and Xu Ran for life.
She convinced herself that she would be Xu Ran's rightful wife, while the others were mere concubines, regardless of the true nature of their relationships.
"Goddess of Kindness, don't think that I'm bullying you on purpose. What the five supreme gods of the Divine Realm did back then was even crueler," Gu Yuena continued. "Upon the Dragon God's death, you ruthlessly purged the Divine Beasts of the Divine Realm. Even if you didn't take part in those actions, you still witnessed them without intervening."
The Goddess of Kindness's heart sank as she looked down at her full bosom.
She knew that Gu Yuena was telling the truth. Following the death of the Dragon God, the gods were quick to lay their hands on other Divine Beasts. In such a mighty torrent, she was powerless to stop it.
"Shan Liang, let me ask you something. Answer me truthfully," Gu Yuena demanded.
"What is it?" The Goddess of Kindness asked coldly, her expression blank as she stared at Gu Yuena, unsure of what the latter was implying.
"Have you fallen for Xu Ran?"
"Absolutely not," the Goddess of Kindness quickly and decisively refuted as soon as Gu Yuena raised the question. That decisiveness, however, held an undertone of unconfident panic.
