Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Does Li Zhiyan's Family Own an Audi A6?
After meticulously preparing her look, Rao Shiyun finally deemed herself flawless in the mirror. Only then did she step out of her house, satisfied with her appearance.
Her son, Liu Zifeng, didn't get along with Li Zhiyan, but fortunately, he wasn't home today. This saved her from the awkward task of explaining why she was going to pick up his classmate.
---
Meanwhile, at the internet café, Li Zhiyan and Li Shiyu were busy grinding through Sky Tower dungeons in Dungeon Fighter Online.
Li Shiyu was on a roll. His goal was to level up all five of his side characters, and since Li Zhiyan wasn't busy, he gladly accompanied him.
However, before Rao Shiyun arrived, a familiar, mocking voice reached their ears.
It was unmistakably Liu Yaolong, their class monitor. His obnoxious tone was so distinctive that it could probably carry across a mountain range.
"Wang Xinyue, you should stop even considering that loser Li Shiyu. Look at him—he's always carrying that broken, second-hand phone with the cracked screen. And don't even get me started on how he's always hanging out with that other loser, Li Zhiyan."
"A pair of nobodies, spending all their time gaming in an internet café. If you're with Li Shiyu, you can kiss a good future goodbye."
"But hey, once I get my dad's Audi A4 in a few days, I'll take you out for a spin. I've already got my driver's license, you know."
Li Shiyu was stunned. I'm just here playing games—why is this guy dissing me out of nowhere?
Li Zhiyan, too, found himself speechless. Can't a guy grind dungeons in peace without being collateral damage?
Somehow, Liu Yaolong had a knack for delivering low-level insults while maintaining an air of smugness.
If this had been before his rebirth, Li Zhiyan might have gone straight for a fight.
Liu Yaolong entered the café with Wang Xinyue and a few other classmates in tow, only to find himself face-to-face with his targets.
The situation turned awkward instantly.
The confident smirk on Liu Yaolong's face faltered. What are the odds? He had just been trash-talking Li Shiyu and Li Zhiyan, and now he had to deal with them in person.
Wang Xinyue tried to ease the tension with a forced laugh. "Oh, come on, class monitor, he didn't mean it like that. We're all just losers, right?"
In 2010, the term "loser" (diaosi) wasn't as insulting as it might sound. On popular forums like Tieba, self-deprecating humor was a trend, and many users referred to themselves as "losers" to bond over shared struggles.
But coming from Liu Yaolong's mouth, it sounded downright derogatory.
"Cut it out," Li Shiyu snapped, his tone sharper than usual. "We all know our class monitor loves to talk trash. I'm used to it by now."
Ever since their visit to the massage parlor, Li Shiyu had gained a newfound confidence. Even Wang Xinyue's presence no longer fazed him.
"But you're calling me a loser? That's fine. But you think you're on the same level as Li Zhiyan? Liu Yaolong, do you even know your place?"
Liu Yaolong was taken aback. This guy usually just takes the insults—what's gotten into him today?
Li Zhiyan glanced at the group calmly. If they wanted to escalate this into a fight, he was ready. In a wild era like 2010, he could out-wild them any day.
Sensing the brewing conflict, Wang Xinyue quickly intervened. "Let's not fight, okay? We're all adults now—getting into trouble over something silly isn't worth it."
After a moment of hesitation, Liu Yaolong begrudgingly led his group to a row of computers on the other side of the café. Though he was fuming internally, he decided to let it go.
Years ago, he had fought with Li Zhiyan over a disagreement, but despite his height advantage, he hadn't come out on top.
And then there was the time Liu Zifeng tried to ambush Li Zhiyan with a group of friends. That had ended with Li Zhiyan and Li Shiyu pinning Liu Zifeng down and pummeling him relentlessly.
Recalling those incidents, Liu Yaolong thought better of provoking them further.
"Immature," he muttered under his breath. "They still think life is all about fighting. A real man needs money to succeed in this world."
Li Zhiyan ignored the snide remark and returned to his game. After all, he had been even more immature in his past life. Back then, he had obnoxiously declared his dream of becoming a millionaire to anyone who would listen.
Wang Xinyue, however, couldn't help but steal glances at Li Zhiyan. There was something different about him lately—something she couldn't quite put her finger on.
---
Moments later, a sleek black Audi A6 pulled up outside the café, its horn honking softly.
Rao Shiyun was here.
Sitting in the driver's seat, she didn't bother stepping out. She had always disliked places like internet cafés, associating them with delinquent behavior.
But when it came to Li Zhiyan, she made an exception.
After all, she believed he was using the café to self-study programming.
"Li Shiyu, log me out when you're done," Li Zhiyan said casually as he logged off and exited the café.
As he stepped outside, he opened the Audi's passenger door and got in.
Li Shiyu felt a surge of pride. That's right, my buddy is living the life—probably off to do some fancy translation work again.
Meanwhile, Liu Yaolong, seated by the window, froze at the sight.
His mind raced. Li Zhiyan? Getting into an Audi A6?
Wasn't Li Zhiyan supposed to be a nobody? His own father only drove an Audi A4!
Moments ago, he had been boasting about his car and mocking Li Zhiyan for being poor. Now, the proverbial boomerang of karma had smacked him square in the face.
Even Wang Xinyue lost focus on her computer game. Her eyes widened as she processed what she had just seen.
Li Zhiyan's family owned an Audi A6? And that woman in the driver's seat—was she his mother?
Is he secretly a rich second-generation heir?
The sleek luxury car parked outside cast a long shadow on their assumptions.

In the Audi, Rao Shiyun glanced at Li Zhiyan with a soft smile.
"Ready for dinner, my little genius?"
"Yes, Rao Auntie," he replied with a grin.
