Stella Rogers: Reincarnated as Female Captain America

Chapter 30: Lying to Donald

THIRD POV—

Inside the hospital, everyone was looking at them in a funny and weird manner, when Stella carried Donald on her back. He ignored them. He was long accustomed to that kind of looks. Being a crippled, he was constantly bombarded by those looks all his life. When the receptionist called Stella, his wife, he was feeling giddy against his own will. Didn't he love Jane? Then, why was he thinking that about the woman he had just met? Ignoring those feelings, he instantly agreed with Stella that he would tell the receptionist that she wasn't his wife.

When the director said that he would call cops on her. He disagreed with him. Just as she had dropped him at his mansion, he told her to go away. He didn't want to stir up more of his feelings for her. He believed it was just for a spur of moment, if he didn't see her anymore, he would forget about her in 1 to 2 days.

Suddenly, a monster attacked them. He was really scared. He thought that the monster would kill him. In that moment, Stella saved him. She fought valiantly with the monster. Eventually, she defeated him.

After that, when Donald tried to order Stella around, she got angry at him. He knew that he should have talked with her more softly, as she was his saviour but, his hunger got better of him. Inside the mansion, just as he was about order food from outside, she told him that she would cook for them. Trust him, he had never eaten something so delicious all his life. He didn't know it was because of his hunger or attraction; he really liked it.

All-in-all, over those two weeks Donald had started to forget about Jane. The last straw was when Stella looked at him shirtless. She was completely enamoured by his abs. A part of him was really happy that his attraction was not one-sided.

Now, they were on their way to the hospital. Donald asked, "Stella, where are you from?"

STELLA'S POV—

We were currently on our way to the hospital when all of a sudden Donald asked me a question. He asked, "Where are you from?"

Where am I from? This is complicated, very-very complicated. If I go by my previous life, I would have a different answer from my current life and if, I go by this life, my answer would be different from my past life. Was Stella also from Brooklyn like Steve? I am not very sure.

I lied, "I don't know."

Hearing my words, Donald frowned, "What do you mean by 'I don't know?'"

Seeing that push has come to shove, I have no choice other than lie to him. I lied, "I don't know where I am from, where do I live, or where is family, nothing."

"But you remember your name."

"It's a made-up name. I lied to you. I don't know my real name."

"So, then what's should I call you?"

"Just call me by the name that I gave you. No need to change."

"So, that means you are suffering from retrograde amnesia."

I replied, "I don't really know."

"Look, I am surgeon but I am still a doctor. I can check—"

Shaking my head, I disagreed, "No need, my memories will come eventually."

"But—"

"I said no, Donald. Just leave this topic."

Seeing my blatantly refusing, he dropped that topic. Honestly, I don't want him to fuss over me. He would instantly know that I am lying if, he diagnoses me.

Changing the topic, I asked, "Did you fulfil what you promised me?"

Donald smiled and handed me a document and a card. Pointing at the document, he said, "That's the proof that you are the citizen of this nation," he then pointed at the card, "and that's your debit card. I have made a bank account for you and transferred I million dollars in your name."

I nodded and said, "Thank you."

Donald shook his head and said, "No need to thank me. It was the part of the deal."

"Fair enough."

After half an hour, we reached the hospital. Donald went for his work, leaving me waiting in the car. I don't know but I am feeling something bad might happen today. Gripping the steering wheel, I tried to calm myself down. Whatever happens, I have no choice but to face it.
