Chapter 391: Chapter 392: The Awakening Siblings
"Hmm?!" Meanwhile, in Asgard, Odin's expression changed. He stared blankly in the direction of Earth, as if developments had taken him by surprise.
When Robert appeared, Odin hadn't been worried. He knew that the relationship between himself and Robert had reached a stalemate. Even though they were enemies, it was unlikely they would directly confront each other.
Thus, Odin believed that at most, Robert would find out why Thor had joined Hydra, but would be unable to solve Thor's brainwashing problem. After all, in their last encounter, Odin knew Robert was just a warrior.
But now, this warrior used the methods of a mage, extracting Thor's soul—a technique Odin had only seen from the Ancient One's lineage. However, he could tell Robert wasn't using the Ancient One's abilities.
"If he really solves Thor's brainwashing, what will happen to Thor's trial?" Previously, Odin thought Robert was in a passive position. Now, he was undoubtedly the passive one, unsure whether to stop Robert.
While Odin hesitated, Thor's two souls were already fighting. Even if Odin forcibly appeared on Earth to intervene, it was too late.
"Roar!" "Scoundrel!"
In the air above Thor's body, two nearly identical souls fought, biting each other as if trying to devour one another.
Compared to Bucky's two souls, Thor's were more similar because Bucky's were distinctly good and evil.
Thor's souls, however, were both Thor—one hating Asgard and the other feeling a lingering attachment.
Robert did not intervene in Thor's soul battle as he did with Bucky's, where he helped eliminate the evil soul. This time, Robert had no intention of helping at all. Simply not attacking Thor, the Asgardian god of thunder, was already good enough; helping him was out of the question!
If Thor suffered any problems during this soul clash, Robert wouldn't care. As long as Thor lived, Odin wouldn't completely flip out.
Besides, if Robert claimed ignorance about helping Thor, could Odin even argue?
"You dare impersonate me and attack Sif and the others!" The souls snarled as they fought, trying to overpower each other not just in strength but also in spirit.
Most importantly, they each wanted to prove themselves as the true Thor, and the other as an impostor.
"You imposter! I am the real Thor. You've been abandoned by Asgard. From the moment you were cast out, you were as good as dead!"
"Nonsense! I am always the god of thunder, the son of Odin!"
"Then why can't you lift Mjolnir? Even that mortal can wield it, and he's not from Asgard!"
"…"
At this point, the original Thor's soul stiffened. In truth, he didn't know how to answer this after regaining his senses because he couldn't accept it.
Once, Mjolnir had no enchantments, but Thor always believed he was its only rightful wielder.
But now, after being cast to Earth, Mjolnir not only didn't belong to him anymore but could also be used by others. This was something Thor couldn't accept.
Unbeknownst to Thor, Peter Parker wasn't the only one who could use Mjolnir. There were several others, some even more proficient than him.
As Thor hesitated, the Hydra Thor lunged, biting off a large chunk of the original Thor's soul and devouring it, making the Hydra Thor's soul more solid!
"Damn it!" The pain and weakness snapped Thor out of it. He knew this was the greatest crisis he had ever faced, even worse than his previous banishment to Earth.
Thor wasn't one to give in easily. He gritted his teeth and fought back against the Hydra Thor.
Robert watched the soul battle with interest. Soul battles weren't new to him, but identical souls fighting for control of a body was rare.
Even rarer was their fighting style. Calling them intelligent beings was an overstatement. They fought like two beasts in desperation!
"Wow, so brutal. Our battles with demons weren't this savage, were they?" Peter Parker and Barry Allen couldn't initially see the fight between the two Thors. But Robert, wanting to share the spectacle, waved his hand, bestowing temporary sight to see the souls.
"You might encounter battles like this someday. Many enemies wield soul powers, especially in places like Hell. We just haven't faced many yet…" Robert reminded Peter and Barry.
He didn't worry about ordinary demons. Peter and Barry could handle them. But their resistance to mystical forces was lacking, so it was worth a warning.
In the Z Warrior team, Peter and Barry's abilities in this area were indeed lacking. Johnny Storm and Pietro were similar. Only Susan Storm and Lorna's psychic abilities could be more effective against the mystical.
While Thor's souls continued to battle, in another place, Johnny Storm and Susan Storm were watching over Pietro and Lorna, who finally awoke from their comas.
"Huh? This is… my home? I'm not dead?"
"Where is this? Hell? Why does it look so familiar?"
Pietro and Lorna awoke almost simultaneously, indicating their absorption of the dimensional creatures' powers was at the same rate.
Both were confused, their memories stuck on the lake battle where Lorna thought she was about to die from using all her power, and Pietro thought he couldn't escape either.
"Pietro!" "Lorna!"
Coming to their senses, the siblings called each other's names, wanting to know the other's condition.
"Hmm? Awake?" As their voices fell, Johnny and Susan appeared by their sides, relieved.
"So, you guys saved us?" Pietro and Lorna were relieved to see each other safe, then hesitantly looked at Johnny and Susan.
"Not exactly." Johnny looked at Susan, who frowned and said, "You disappeared for too long. Peter suggested we look for you. Peter and Barry, being faster, found you first, but you were already unconscious…"
"Robert returned briefly, saying you were fine and seemed to be evolving, which is why you were comatose until now. So, what happened to you?"
"Evolving powers? How?" Pietro and Lorna exchanged confused looks.
"We encountered two monsters, one fast and one that could disintegrate objects…" Pietro recounted. "They seemed otherworldly, unlike Earth or Hell demons. We thought we were done for, but if it wasn't you who saved us, how did we survive? And why did our powers evolve?"
"Before losing consciousness, I seemed to unleash a powerful force. Could I have killed the monsters and absorbed their power by accident?" Lorna speculated.
"But even if you killed them, how did I get their power when I was far from you?" Pietro pointed out the flaw, frowning.
"Supernatural events don't always have clear explanations. Shouldn't you focus on what changes your evolved powers have?" Johnny asked.
If every supernatural event had to be understood, the supernatural world wouldn't have so many mysteries.
For instance, no one figured out why the same spell gave different abilities to everyone. Pietro and Lorna's case of gaining power from killing monsters was just another mystery.
"True. My powers evolved? I don't feel it," Pietro muttered before vanishing.
Fast! Pietro felt faster than ever, beyond imagination!
More importantly, he felt no limits. The previous constraints were gone. He moved at high speed without restriction, feeling light and free!
This speed was new to Pietro, but it felt like true speed.
A hum followed Pietro's disappearance, and Johnny and Susan stood in amazement. Lorna's power surged, disintegrating the surrounding furniture and then reassembling it.
"What the…?" Johnny swore, struggling to comprehend.
Pietro disappearing was one thing, but Lorna's new power to disintegrate and reassemble objects was terrifying, like wielding fundamental truths of reality!
"Is this your evolved power? Can mine evolve like this too?" Susan, normally composed, asked Lorna, envy in her eyes.
Lorna's abilities were previously similar to Susan's, both having telekinesis. Susan also had invisibility, making her stronger overall.
But now, Lorna's powers took a strange turn, diverging from Susan's. Disintegrating and reassembling objects was formidable, with unknown limits.
"Too cool! Let's go! I need to race Barry again!" Pietro saw Lorna's power but was more focused on his speed, feeling it was his time to shine.
"Things happened while you were out…" Susan reminded gently.
"Talk on the way! Hurry!" Pietro urged impatiently.
