Chapter 11: AGENT VI
Bill Miller sat in his study; his face lit up with a boyish grin. It had been a long time since he'd felt this excited about a client. After years in the agency business, he could recognize a star in the making, and Ethan Jones was exactly that. Bill couldn't shake the thought: This kid could take me to the next level. Despite his many successes, he'd never represented a true world-class talent. Ethan was his golden ticket, and Bill intended to capitalize on it.
Sitting at his desk, he glanced over the contract Lisa had sent him. She'd done a stellar job, outlining the best rates and incentives in the industry. Bill, ever the perfectionist, made a few tweaks to ensure everything was airtight. Satisfied, he leaned back in his chair, took a deep breath, and picked up his phone.
He had already obtained Ethan's number from his son, Paul. Dialing quickly, Bill waited for the call to connect.
"Hello?" came Ethan's voice, cautious and slightly weary.
"Hey, Ethan, my boy! How are you?" Bill's voice was warm and full of enthusiasm.
"Hello, sir. My morning's been fine. How's yours?"
"Going great—especially since I've got the contract ready!"
"That fast?" Ethan asked, surprised.
"Yes, son. We've got a golden opportunity here, and we need to capitalize on it," Bill said firmly. Noticing a hesitation in Ethan's tone, he softened his voice. "Listen, Ethan, I know all of this might feel overwhelming. It's a lot happening all at once, but trust me when I say I only want what's best for you. You've got something special. I truly believe you have what it takes to become a superstar."
Ethan felt a sense of calm wash over him as he listened to Bill's words. The sincerity in Bill's tone reassured him, quieting the swirling doubts in his mind. "Okay, Mr. Miller," he said, his voice steadier now.
Encouraged by the reassurance, Ethan spoke again. "Actually, sir, I've been thinking… I'd like to release another song. Something I've written. I feel like now is the right time to follow up."
"Another one?" Bill asked, his tone thoughtful. He paused for a moment, then added with a hint of excitement, "You know what? Let's do it." said bill trusting his guts plus maybe cause of the close connection with Ethan he wanted to do things differently
Ethan could feel the confidence in Bill's voice, and it gave him a boost. "Thank you, sir," Ethan replied, feeling a mix of relief and excitement.
"Perfect. I'll send the contract over now. Let me know when you're ready to discuss it. Bye for now."
"Bye, sir," Ethan replied, setting the phone down on his desk.
He stared at the surface for a moment, the weight of his decisions sinking in. Which song should I release? he wondered, sifting through the ideas and drafts he'd just awakened.
