Chapter 5: INTERNET FRENZY

Jacob Mathew, a young man from Wisconsin, USA, was staying in New York with his elder brother and his family for an event when lockdown was initiated, so he had to stay over. He woke up like any other day and went downstairs, where he saw his brother's wife and only child, Ha-Yoon, and their son George Cho Mathew

"Morning, Ha Yoon." "Morning, Jacob," his brother's wife replied, busy getting her toddler to eat his food. "He doesn't like those formulas; he always spits them out." "Yeah, but the doctor recommended it for him, considering his health." "Yeah, I get that," said Jacob, remembering his nephew has SC, a rare genotype disorder that happened because a doctor couldn't diagnose that. Yoon had Ac and not AA, which she was diagnosed with at birth.

"Oo, Jacob, your laptop was making a lot of noise in the study." "Thanks, Yoon, I would go check it out now," he replied, entering the study he had converted to his work den while he was here—not like his firefighter brother was using it anyways. It was made apparently for Ha-Yoon, but she had barely used it after the move down here for her work with an accounting firm down here when the virus struck.

Jacob sat down on the seat in the study, turned on his system, and saw he had 98k notices on his TikTok page. Yes, Jacob was a TikToker, a very popular one at that, with 17 million followers. His name on TikTok was find all. He always had this talent of fitting puzzles and all, so he decided to turn it into a career when he saw how big TikTok was getting.

Bella T: (find all) Please help me find Ethan Jones's Instagram page. I need this.

He noticed that this particular person, Bella T, messaged him like 19 times alone: 'Ethan Jones, who is that? He went more through the messages, and most of them were asking him about finding Ethan Jones's Instagram or Twitter or even TikTok page. One individual was messaging him to find the one piece, whatever that was.

but he was going to put his efforts into this Ethan kid first and foremost, so he delved right in to first find out who Ethan was, first of all; everything he saw was directing him to a YouTube video, which he clicked, and then he was blown away: 'Wow, this kid's got talent! Now he could see why people were blowing him up to find him. "But how hard could it be? He literally said his name in the opening of the song, Jacob said out loud, but "boy was he proven wrong.

"Who is this kid?" Jacob said, frustrated. He had spent over 10- minutes searching but still hadn't found a social media presence of the boy. Most Ethan Joneses that appeared online were either namesakes or people looking to make a batch of new followers who changed their name to him.

'Seems he is one of those people who just observe but never interact online.' If Ethan were here, he would probably beg him to stop considering the amount of stress he was bringing into his life.

'Time to go deep.' Jacob thought he started doing some digging, and then he found something: one of the first people to comment on his video was someone named Precious Jones, 'a relative or his wife, perhaps," Jacob thought.

and this girl, Precious, was exactly what she was looking for. She was a total social butterfly, 'too young to be a wife, though probably little sister.' Then he kept digging; he found out she lived and was born in England but moved over to the US around when she was 13 years of age. That's when he got what he was looking for: a post she made during her first day of high school. She was hugging a boy older than her, but he didn't look like the Ethan Jones he saw on the YouTube video. He checked the tag and clicked on the guy's post.

'Paul Miller, hmm, who are you?' He went and found out all he could about him, his dad being a semi-big-time agent who had fairly popular clients, even the notorious P-star DANA X, and his mom being Stephanie Miller, better known to him as Stephanie Yellowspot, an actress who played a lead role in a movie he and his brother were obsessed with as kids.

'Time to get back to work,' he chided himself, then he cross-checked the followers they had with those they were following and checked the ones they had in common with each other. 15 people stood out; he checked them all. Only two had private accounts: one Annamolly and the other Stacy Britney. Going by the names, he figured he should be that Annamolly person, but he couldn't risk his reputation on a guess, so he went to Twitter, but sadly she didn't have an account. Then he went to TikTok and watched as many videos as he could, then he noticed something.

A video of the girl Precious doing a normal TikTok trend video at the back, sitting down on the sofa, a person was there. He paused the video and zoomed in on the person, and he was so happy because there sat the man he had been looking for all along, Ethan Jones, in all his glory, and coincidentally enough, he replied on that post saying, "Take down the video I'm showing at the back." His sister replied with, "Too late, loser; it's already up. I have to deal with having my loser brother on my video too."

and that's the confirmation he needed, then he kept digging and also found his Twitter account.

Jacob was grinning when he posted on his page, "Just found the Instagram and Twitter account of the singer of Shape of You."

Ethan would never know the trouble that went through destroying all the years he spent trying to be a ghost online, even choosing a weird name people would never guess the name of one of his favourite songs by the Incubus band, a song he heard when he was small, and he fell in love with.
