The All-Rounder Hero: Magic or Quirk

Chapter 5: Showing What You Got

Kenshi felt anxious…

It finally set in for him that he was finally taking his first steps towards his dream of becoming a Pro-Hero; He tried to keep as calm as he could with anything that could distract him like the busts positioned outside or the grandiose nature of UA's main building or-

"Cow Boy!"

Or the sound of a familiar voice and the testing of a new insult. "Oh good…I never thought hearing Bakugo insulting me could help calm nerves right now…" Kenshi thought to himself as he saw the irritable Bakugo trudging past him; "Nice to see you haven't lost your touch with names."

"Just budge your tire sized ass out of my way before I set you on fire." Bakugo growled as he shoulder shoved past Kenshi but noticed that the usually chunky Kenshi was a little harder to push aside. "I told you to move."

"Then walk around…No one's here from school to see you taking the tough guy approach." Kenshi snarked; "Besides, tire's gone so no fat jokes are gonna work." He said with a slight smirk at cutting off one avenue of Bakugo's insults, the fact that the school didn't bother taking his measurements for a new uniform, he was stuck in his old, baggy clothes.

"And how'd you do that? Stop eating all the cows on your mudhut farm?" Bakugo remarked snidely, determined to keep prodding.

"Diet and exercise, Bakugo…It does wonders, y'know?" Kenshi remarked as he flexed his right arm; However since he had baggy sleeves, all it did was shift a little but it was enough to make Bakugo laugh mockingly.

"Yeah, does wonders in making you look stupid…But at least your dear ol' ma and pa can tell the difference between you and the other fat pigs that live there." Bakugo taunted before walking off towards the door.

"With a head THAT big and swollen with ego, it's a miracle that he doesn't have brain damage." Kenshi muttered but decided to leave things aside since today was more important; "Still, I got my chance now to get into UA…Bakugo is the least of my worries right now…" He thought to himself but then his mind somehow managed to fill with the nerves again as he got both got closer to the steps yet didn't move at all but then felt someone tapping him on the back.

"You okay there?" A girl's voice asked as she tapped his lower back; She was a brunette with pink blush marks on her cheeks and large eyes that were focused on him with a mix of curiosity and a small amount of worry.

"Oh, uh…Yeah, just a little pre-exam jitters…Still trying to let all this sink in."

"Well, you've been standing there stiff as a board and sweating a little…Though I guess I can't really blame you since I'm a little nervous too." The girl admitted with a soft laugh and retracted her hand, "Still, we should probably get going before we're late." She added before quickly jogging off towards the doors but then quickly turned back to wave at him; "Oh…And good luck with the exam!"

—Inside the Lecture Hall—

"HEY! HEY! We got ourselves a full crowd for today's show! So for this exam prelim, how about we give ourselves a little hype up, EVERYBODY SAY HEY!" The very loud and bombastic Hero Present Mic cheered out to the seated examinees who were either too focused on the test explanation to talk or otherwise nervous. "Well, that's okay because I'm gonna give you the rundown on how this test will be conducted!" He said with a lot of grandstanding as the screen lit up to show off a giant city.

"Present Mic! I listen to his shows on the radio and made requests while I worked…Meeting All Might was amazing but this is just as aweso-" Kenshi thought to himself quietly with a barely restrained smile on his face; Sure most people were trying to focus and Bakugo was close to yelling for quiet but the fan wasn't just going to sit there with a stone face.

However someone else beat Bakugo to the punch on intervening. "Apologies for interrupting but you seem to have given us an incorrect dossier of information!" A bespectacled boy called out from his seat. "It says here that there are FOUR obstacles that we will be challenged by yet you have only mentioned three."

Mic looked a little off put by the fact that someone had finally broken the silence albeit to interrupt. "Well, we're going to cover that so consider it acknowledged, avid listener!"

The boy respectfully and stiffly bowed like a robot before turning toward Kenshi since he was a few seats in front of him. "And you! The tall one with the tan! Please cease your vacant stare, this is a place for learning and as an applicant for the highest learning…You need to pay attention or leave if you insist on distracting everyone with that silly grin!"

Kenshi could practically feel the intense judgement coming from the boy in glasses and it honestly intimidated him a little with how seriously this was taken. "I mean…I'm sorry if I distracted people but aren't you technically being a bigger distraction by yelling and standing up?" He pointed out with a mix of his own apology and his observations.

The soft murmurs from the group seemed to agree more with Kenshi at this point and true to his own protests, the bespectacled boy owned up to his discrepancy; "That is true…I apologise for causing a scene Mr. Mic, sir, I didn't mean to interrupt!"

Present Mic on the other hand was just eager to let this slide and carry on; "Okay, Okay! That was a good catch on the "bad guys" and this is the reason why we kept number four a secret!" He detailed with an exaggerated flourish as a gigantic number four showed up on screen. "Bad guy number four is more of an obstacle than a target so if you do end up seeing it then make sure you avoid it since you won't get points from it."

"Then what's the point of having it be there if we don't get anything from fighting it?" One particular applicant who had spikey blue hair gelled back.

"You kids know what a Thwomp is? From Mario bros?" Mic asked as he brought it up on screen. "Same principles."

A chorus of "Oooooooh"s resonated in the crowd as Kenshi mentally recovered; "So it's not so much to make a hard fight, just testing people knowing when to fold 'em."

"Now make your way outside to the training grounds that you were assigned and you'll be ready for your practical testing, go and do your best out there, kiddies! Go Plus Ultra!" Mic said to hype them up and this time everyone cheered those words back since this was go time.

—Outside, at the gates of Grounds 5 —

"Maaaaaan…This place is huge!" Kenshi remarked aloud as he saw the humongous gates leading into their testing area. "All this to fight robots…I think I did okay on the written but now I get to shine here….All I just need to do is focus on using my strength and speed to try blitzing the robots, I should be careful as well to not hit anyone in the crossfire so eye blasts and combustion's out an-"

As per the request of UA, the judges had asked for everyone to present their gear for the physical test; For this one in particular, Kenshi wore a black headband to keep his messy hair from sticking to his face, a grey sleeveless hoody-like top with his dark blue wristbands on and wearing olive pants, finishing with red and blue running shoes along with the faint glimpse of black bands around his ankles.

His absentminded focus was broken when he saw the brown haired girl that tried to cheer him up earlier, she had been trying to steady her breathing like a ritual and tapping her hands together. Kenshi could see some prominent markings on the tips of her fingers like paw pads though she looked on edge from waiting. "Come on…You can do this, you got this far and now you can make it!" She said loud enough for others to hear as she hyped herself.

The optimistic Kenshi decided to see if he could help return the favour from earlier to try making her feel at ease a little before the test when he felt a hand clasp onto his arm.

"Have you decided to try taking this seriously? Because I don't abide academic opportunities being squan...dered." The bespectacled boy started to chide Kenshi but stopped when he saw the slightly taller boy eyeing the brunette. "I don't know what exactly your intentions are regarding that girl but there is a time and a place for fraternising." He scolded before adjusting his glasses; "Besides, it looks like she is focusing herself as well…Distracting her may not be the best idea."

"WELL, WHAT ARE YOU ALL WAITING FOR?! TEST'S STARTED, SO GET THOSE POINTS!" Mic yelled from one of the high points to announce the test's "start".

Everyone had one thought when they realised that the clock was ticking and nearly every plan or tactic was replaced with one simple option: "Scramble!"

Kenshi had been lucky enough to see everyone splitting off to target different parts of the city; "Okay, just gotta find some robots and earn some points…I can see if One for All works yet, what was it that All-Might said to awaken it? "Stand tall and clench your butt cheeks tight, swing your fist hard and true…Once you feel that energy bubble to the surface…"

His mental tangent cut off when he saw three robots that looked low level focus on him.

"Target Acquired!"

"Target Acquired!"

"Target Acquired!"

"We'll kill you!"

Hearing that was more than enough for Kenshi to put himself into high gear as he got into a boxer's stance, sped up and then proceeded to quickly strike the robots; Knocking one in the head with his fist, imprinting a palm mark into the second and then football kicked another into the wall. "So far so good…Just need to keep it going and not lose steam!" He said out loud and then scooped up a piece of debris to knock another robot into a heap before swinging his leg high to smash another's head. "Alrighty, we round that up to Five points total…Oho…" He remarked and then saw another ready to attack; "Make that six….Sma-"

Even though he was fast enough to keep up with a car, a beam of light shot out from the ruins of a building and scorched a hole in the robot faster than he could finish that sentence. "Ohoho~! Do not fear, mon ami because I am…" A flamboyant looking blonde boy with a high tech belt wrapped around his stomach bolstered but then paused when he saw the pile of robots behind Kenshi. "Looks like I do not have to worry about the robots in front of you but you should probably worry about the robots behind me~!" The boy said in a tone so glamorous and dramatic that he was practically spitting glitter.

"Behind you? The heck are y-" Kenshi asked as a sound of a being shattered broke his questioning as three larger robots; Roughly a head taller than Kenshi and built to look like muscular men with the lower half of a tank stomped outward with what looked like a riot shield on their right arms and nothing in their left, though the real worrying part was the sound of more rolling their way.

"Okay…Looks like you guys are worth more than the others so how about we form a truce and we can split the points." He said to the blonde but it looked like they had already vanished halfway down the street to another part of the area.

"Sorry but my Lasers can only be dazzling for larger crowds and I need my own score raised, ADIEU!" The blonde quickly sprinted off and left Kenshi alone.

"Hey! You brought them here, at lea-Aw forget it…I'll handle it." Kenshi grumbled as he clenched his fists; "I can at least break those shields of your's."

The robots quickly raised their left arms up and then started to reassemble into rifle barrels complete with a magazine underneath and aimed directly at Kenshi; These were the Hard Threat Robots or more specifically…The 3 Pointers since they were built like tanks and packing more firepower albeit with mock rounds so they would hurt about as much as an air rifle. A quick BANG was heard as the first shot broke off and hit Kenshi in the shoulder which made the tall boy grunt in pain as he realised that despite his healing and training; He could still feel pain and rubber bullets were still bullets that hurt like hell.

"Bad day…" Kenshin remarked with a wince as he rubbed the pain out of his arm and then saw the other two robots taking their loadup to start opening rapid fire on him; It took a noticeable amount of his reflexes to dodge a good chunk of the rounds though some still hit as he ducked, rolled and jerked to try avoiding it more. "Bad day!Bad Day!Bad Day!Bad Day!" He continued to grunt and yelp as he got shot but then decided to springboard off of the wall he ducked toward; hitting the first robot in the gun arm and the torso with a blast of red fire from his palm, his next target aimed again only to find that Kenshi had used the momentary judgement lapse to land a double fisted strike on the second robot in the head and turn it into a dustbin lid.

"Hard Threat 1 and 2 down…amplifying calibre and summoning additional backup!"

"Okay…Pain felt, no longer taking it easy." Kenshi mentally affirmed as he took on a runner's pose, aimed his body at the alerting robot before sprinting forward in a blur and essentially broke the robot into pieces before carrying on and destroyed robot after robot to rack up points to go from 14 points and slowly ticked upwards as more robots poured in.

—Meanwhile in the Review Bunker—

"Gotta say, we've pulled quite a few sparks of talent in this group, those robots out there are dropping a lot faster than we thought…" A man dressed up like a cowboy mentioned as he watched Bakugo running through swathes of robots and racking up points like no one's business.

"Indeed, it's not often that we get a strong lineup of potential prospects for our new batch of students but this time certainly seems to make for good picks." Another man who looked like he was made out of rock added as he watched the blonde lasering robots by the dozen.

A smaller being gazed up at the screens while sat next to All-Might; "While it is interesting to see how many students can physically overpower our test, it is important to pick out those who can respond in their own way." They said and looked at a large boy with a multi limbed body spread out like a radar dish. "Whether it's acting as surveillance, utility or just something as simple as detainment." They then had a smirk form on their face as they opened up a panel with a big red button; "But the most important factor in testing these new prospects...is to see how quickly they can adapt when things go south."

All-Might watched as the Mouse-Dog-Bear-thing pressed the button and noticed Kenshi on screen for the briefest of moments before vanishing again, earning a double glance from some of the others including Mic, a woman clad in a bodice and a skinsuit along with the cowboy. "Doing good so far, young man…Show them what you got!" The deflated All-Might thought as he held on to the faith that his successor could get through whatever they could pitch at him.

—Outside on the training grounds—

"Looks like you kiddies are getting up there in points, now lets see if you can handle an extra challenge with our no pointer!" Mic's voice rang over the intercoms as one of the biggest robots made it's slow but intimidating crawl towards the crowd of would-be applicants. This particular robot was easily dwarfing the buildings that it was around and stood on it's shoulders and arms were the smaller robots that looked like they were docked similarly to jets on an aircraft carrier. "Just remember, This thing offers no points and if you run out of time trying to fight it, you LOSE all of your points so choose wisely, kiddos!"

"Oh…Oh shit…"

"That's too much…They can't expect us to beat that…Can they?"

"Forget the points, EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF!"

The easily intimidated group all started to back pedal and rush for the exit since their desire to make it out with points was a lot stronger than risk running down the clock to fight the biggest robot there and lose all points.

Kenshi eyed up the robot, even though he was certain that he came a long way from before, taking on something as enormous and imposing as the kaiju sized robot felt like less of a sure thing and more of a possibility. "I can at least slow this thing down so I can nab a few more robots on the way out and give the others a chance for the exit; I just need to blow out those treads to limit it's movements then I can target the weak points like joints or that big eye in the centre…Then again can I even do something against it without risking everyone arou-" He muttered to himself as he tried to come up with a plan though that tapered off when he heard someone calling out.

"Gh…Someone, anyone…Please help….I'm stuck and I can't move my leg at all!" A girl's voice yelled for help as the brunette from before had tried to make a break for it but she ended up getting caught under debris, trapping her and potentially injuring her leg from the sudden drop.

Kenshi was able to recognise her as the girl who encouraged him from earlier; "Oh, that's not good at all." He said to himself as he started sprinting; "Shouldn't the judges have a stop button for this? There's absolutely no way that they'd risk a student just for a test!"

—Back at the Bunker—

"Um…Principal Nezu…If we don't stop the robot then that girl's gonna be getting more than a hurt leg!" The Cowboy tried to prompt the now named headmaster as he realised that it wasn't stopping.

"Hold on a moment…I have a feeling that this might resolve on it's own." The small animal-person would state as he saw the blurred Kenshi on the screen and enlarged it so everyone else could see it too.

All-Might felt his fingers digging into the armrests of his chair as he saw Kenshi freezing up, or at least looked like he was. "Come on, kid…Now's a good a time as any, I know you can do it…"

—Back on the Training Grounds—

"Damn it…I need a plan but that's gonna take time…" Kenshi thought to himself as he then began sprinting as fast as he could, picking up speed quickly and then decided to choose between cautious or drastic. "Okay, Caution to the wind it is." He lowered himself and made for a running start before jumping up into the air, using his Levitation to start flying upwards and using his speed to soar faster and faster until he cleared the buildings and was eye level to the robot.

"He…He's flying? So that's what his Quirk was..." The girl thought to herself as she braced for whatever would happen and decided that she'd want to try getting free; using her Quirk to make the rocks on her leg lighter and started to crawl out. "Do it, nerves kid!" She muttered to herself as she tried and failed to get to her feet, her leg still hurting while her stomach lurched from the overuse of her Quirk.

"Come on…Pick up speed….Clench your butt cheeks…Deep breath and yell out the words you were trained to." Kenshi thought as he raised his fist in front of him like a Superman pose and aimed for the Robot's head; "SMAAAAAAASH!" He yelled out and then penetrated through the robot's eye and then re-emerged from the other side just as quickly. With a slow turn as he heard the deafening creak from the robot toppling over, Kenshi floated in place and took stock of everything. "That…was a lot easier than I thought…I figured that it'd…whoa there it is…" He mused to himself but felt his body drain of all it's energy as he slowly floated downwards until he hit the ground with a soft thud to the sound of the timer going off.

"Th-Thanks…For helping back there." The girl muttered before feeling the need to be sick, unaware that a small old lady was hobbling her way over to the two.

"Here you go, have some gummies to get your energy back." The old lady hummed as she handed some candy to the brunette before turning over towards Kenshi and headed his way. "Honestly, The faculty here need to dial it back a little…this was exce-hm?" She was partway through admonishing the staff for putting the boy in this situation since he had been covered in cuts and bruises, though it looked like he was still healing those fairly quickly on a closer inspection. "Interesting, this boy flew several feet in the air and smashed right through that giant bucket of bolts…That alone should have resulted in at least a few broken parts, though it looks he's recovering on his own…Toshinori, I think you have some explaining to do if you've done what I think you've done." She thought to herself as she helped the two get to their feet and the exam came to a close.

—Hours Later—

Kenshi had to stay behind for a while so Recovery Girl could question him about his injuries or lack thereof; He explained that his Quirk had multiple parts to it but that it helped to keep him out of any real danger, though he did his utmost to try and avoid spilling anything about One For All but he could tell that she didn't seem all that surprised that his own Quirk could function like that. "I guess she probably knows about other Quirks like mine…" He thought as he reached his apartment, put his key in the door and unlocked it to see that the lights were on and that there were another pair of shoes by the door. "Well, looks like Dad's home…Wait, dad?"

"Kenshi!" The other man's voice came from the kitchen as he was dressed in a button up white shirt, suit pants and black socks; Thanks to Kenshi's growth spurt, Tsubaki Yoshiyasu was now a little shorter than he was at around 5ft 9 and he had a little more white in his hair quills. "I heard about your testing day so I thought I'd stop by to check in with how it went." The man remarked as he had some curry made up on the stove.

Kenshi nodded as he left his shoes by the door; They were aware of what happened at the school and most of his dad's time was spent trying to keep his mom from marching all the way to Aldera Middle to not only tear a new one into Bakugo and the other kids for their bullying but also to ensure she didn't demolish the school for being so callously ignorant towards the whole thing. "Yeah, I just finished up and hopefully they'll let me know…" He said and then sniffed. "Is that mom's curry?"

"You betcha, I made a quick stop home to see your mom when I got some time off and she gave me some to take back with you." Tsubaki explained as he used a ladle to pour up some food for the both of them. "Though you're gonna have to fill me in on a few things since you haven't really been home all that much."

"Yeah…Like what exactly?" Kenshi asked as he set the table, feeling that same kind of anxiety that any teenager would feel when his parents say that they wanted to talk.

"Well, besides the whole…You being in the hospital thing, there's also that text I got that said you were staying somewhere for a few months…So, you gonna fill me in on that?" Tsubaki asked as he sat down and placed the food down to start his questioning.

"Oh…I was…Training for my entrance exam, I took a little extra time to get myself into shape as well as making sure I study…I actually made it very productive." Kenshi explained, trying to hold off on telling too much because: A) Even if it was his dad, how would he explain that All-Might of all people took him to a island full of researchers and inventors so he could train and B) How would you explain to your father who knows that you had been quirkless since you were born suddenly discover a Quirk.

"Well…I guess that makes sense, I can tell you've been hitting the weights, so how come you never called or said anything beforehand? The only reason that I knew you were away for a reason was because of a text message from someone named Toshinori Yagi, he said he was your trainer and that you needed to be assessed…So Kenshi…What exactly was he assessing?" Tsubaki asked as he was going full "Father" mode in trying to get the full story.

Kenshi gulped down a piece of beef as he looked up at Tsubaki with a nervous expression; "Well…He offered to help me with training and things kind of got intense with both studying for the written side and combat training for the physical."

"That seems VERY intensive just for a school's entrance exam." Tsubaki mentioned with a raised eyebrow but gestured his fork which had a sauce coated potato chunk on it; "You still haven't told me or your mom about what school you were thinking about going for." He pointed out with a serious look on his face before eating the potato on his fork.

"I uh…Wanted it to be a surpr-"

"Oh, for the love of…Just stop tap dancing around the subject and tell me what you're enrolling for!" Tsubaki finally snapped as he was getting tired of the roundabout way that his son was explaining things. "If you don't want to tell me then just say so, but right now it just feels like you're lying to spare my feelings…Don't do that." He said with a heavy sigh; "I just want to help you out..You're my son after all and above all else, I want to support you in whatever you do…I couldn't do much for your big brother but I can still be there for you…"

Kenshi felt his body tense; He knew that his dad was trying to understand but he also really didn't want to reveal anything too much. "Okay…Just, go with the basics…Remember your promise to All-Might…" Kenshi thought before he took in a deep breath; "The exam I took today, the one that I've been out for was to try enrolling at UA Academy."

This made Tsubaki pause for a moment as the piece of curry on his fork dropped when he heard. "I'm sorry but I don't think I heard that right…" He asked as he looked more confused than anything; "You're looking to enrol at UA? A place that exclusive trains people with Quirks to become Pro-Heroes…Forgive me for saying this but I've raised you since you were born, as far as both your mother and I know, you don't have a Quirk."

"Well…I uh…kinda was a late bloomer…Remember my growth spurt?" Kenshi asked as he moved at super speed to clean up the table and get all of the dishes washed and put away in record speed. "It wasn't the only thing that I gained after study and exercise…" He elaborated but noticed that his dad wasn't exactly responding, in fact he looked like he was about to cry. "Dad?"

"You…You have a Quirk…All this time and you have a Quirk of your own…" Tsubaki tried to piece it together and was understandably a little shocked with time needed to process; "How…How long have you had this?"

"I don't know the definites but it was after I got out of the hospital…Someone got in a bad way and…and I jumped in to try and help, that was when the first of my abilities showed up." Kenshi explained; doing his best to try and keep it simple for his father since dealing with the fact that his once Quirkless son was now walking around with a Quirk of his own was enough of a bombshell already.

"I.." Tsubaki then felt himself smile and hugged Kenshi with a growing smile before finally letting go; "You said you had other abilities…Do you know them?" He asked and listened as best he could while Kenshi listed them off and felt his pride growing as he could see that the boy he raised had grown from an anxious but well meaning child into an assured person with a good sense of right and wrong.

—A Week Later—

Kenshi had been busy trying to keep on top of things when it came to training himself and even moreso once his mom heard the news about his new Quirk and the fact that he was trying to get into UA, for now he was lifting some weights to keep himself in rhythm when he heard his phone going off and saw a frog emoji on the icon; Tsuyu had decided to try chatting with him since she had some free time.

"Hey Ken-chan, have you heard back from the school you were planning to enrol for? I just found out that I got in with a pretty good score." Tsuyu sent over to him along with a photo of the letter on the froggy girl's desk, one thing that Kenshi had noticed since they met was that even though she was upfront and forward with what she said: She was still more expressive on texts.

Kenshi felt himself smile a little as he could imagine Tsuyu hopping around excitedly at the prospect of her news; "Hey, congrats…I never actually asked but what school did YOU apply for?"

"Oh…I never did say, did I? I was hoping to get into UA…Well, actually I did get in." Tsu responded with a happy frog emoji.

"No kidding…I'm still waiting to hear back so who knows, maybe I nailed it." Kenshi responded with a shrug emoji; "I've probably flubbed the written but I feel pretty confident about the physical exam."

There was a knock at the door as Tsubaki held up a thick envelope with UA's emblem on it and a barely contained grin on his face; "You got a letter for you, Ken…I think this might be it!"

Kenshi opted to take it in privacy first to process the news and used a nearby guitar pick as an opener; "Okay, Kenshi, deep breaths…Pass or Fail, you did your best…" He muttered to himself and peeked inside; No letter but there was a thick metal disc that was roughly the size of a drink coaster.

"I. AM. HERE!" A familiar voice bellowed out as the disc was set down and a hologram of a tuxedoed All-Might appeared.

"A-Wha-All-Might?! What are you…This is my letter from UA, right? How are you-"

"Appearing to declare your Exam Results!" All-Might stated dramatically before clearing his throat; "I have much to discuss with you, Young man and I intend on providing you wi-"

There was a hushed whispering from behind the camera to All-Might who seemed to notice and bowed his head, Kenshi could almost hear him questioning how many he had left.

"Very well, that can all wait for now! But there are two things that will be announced to you on this recording; The first is that I have decided to enlist my skills to pass on knowledge at UA as one of it's teachers."

"All-Might…Is UA's new teacher? That sounds pretty cool but that doesn't really answer my questions about-" Kenshi thought to himself before finding himself getting interrupted by Holo-Might again.

"Your results are the next to be discussed." All-Might added like he anticipated Kenshi being antsy about knowing his standing. "You've been able to gain enough points on the written exam to pass on a low to mid average…It is a low score but it is still a passing grade, nevertheless it is something that we can work on more." He detailed before gesturing to the board behind him with a list of names and his was at the top.

"I-Is that…"

"Your score on the Practical on the other hand was nothing short of astronomical! You've not only been able to build up into the top 10 rankings but you also were able to score the highest record at 90…The only scores higher than that were the likes of myself, Endeavour and a few of the current upperclassmen at UA! Granted that your written scores also factor in so it is a shame to say that it is not a perfect score."

"So…" Kenshi was trying and failing to process; "This means that I…"

Meanwhile, Tsubaki waited outside with somehow even more anxiety than his son and that was saying something. His finger poised over the video call button to his wife in preparation for the revelation; If he passed then it was a cause to celebrate as a family, if he failed then at the very least he had his Quirk to help improve his chances for another attempt. The door then clicked and opened up as Kenshi stood there with a frazzled look on his face and didn't say a word. "Well? Did you get in?" He asked but found his expression of pride and overwhelming happiness rise even higher than it ever did before when he saw Kenshi give a thumbs up.

—A Few Hours Later, On Dagobah Beach—

"All-Might!" Kenshi called out as he rushed to meet with the deflated Hero though he felt his neck burn in embarrassment when he saw Toshinori wave him down once a couple of heads perked up at hearing the Hero's name.

"Try to avoid using my Hero Name in public…you'll attract all sorts of attention…." Toshinori gently reprimanded him as he watched Kenshi disperse the curiosity by saying he mistook him for someone else. "Good, now that we've got that out of the way; Congratulations on making it…I wanted to say it in person but as you can probably guess: I've been getting pretty busy as a teacher."

"I know…I was surprised that I managed to score so high to begin with…I thought my written test would've put me lower." Kenshi noted as he felt his shame grow; "I tried and studied as much as I could…Looks like I haven't been able to try hard eno-"

"Now now, we didn't get this far just to stumble at the first hurdle, Young Yoshiyasu." Toshinori stopped him before the spiral got worse. "On one hand; You can't really be blamed since the lion's share of time preparing for the exam was to make sure your Quirk could be controlled…But on the other hand, we now know to beef up your academic scores since you've got both your Quirk and One For All down pat...And might I add: That was quite the magnificent way to test how you handle it."

Kenshi tilted his head a little as he got confused; "What do you mean, exactly? All I did was use my own abilities." He pointed out and then began explaining about the events leading up to smashing the Zero-Pointer robot. "I did try using it once or twice with the instructions you gave me but I felt…Nothing happen, I'm not sure if I did something wrong or maybe I messed up how to trigger it."

Toshinori blinked as he took that information in; "So all that back there…That was his strength on it's own? Jeez, Dave…What kind of training did you and Melissa put this boy through?" He thought and then ran a hand through his blonde hair. "Well…I can safely say that regardless of this, you put on quite a show for the faculty. Admittedly I could get it working from the get go but what I CAN do to help is help you try to figure out how to awaken One For All within you."

Kenshi felt his smile come back once he realised that there was still a chance to make use of the gift All-Might gave him. "I promise…I won't let you down."

Toshinori nodded; "I know you won't, kid…" He said before transforming into All-Might. "Because I wi-"
