Chapter 25: Father
Looking at his system, experience was gained for the bonus mission of the Lords' Library, but he was still at level 2. Now all that was left was revenge against the Brown brothers, escape from Valyria, and save people directly and indirectly. He asked the coachman to drop him off a little far from home and walked the rest of the way. When he was in a dark alley, he took his red cloak from his inventory and put it on. He then approached a house where 2 boys were in front of, as soon as he passed in front of the house he dropped a bag of copper coins. The two boys saw that something fell and the youngest of them tried to warn the man, but the other interrupted him when he saw the bag of coins. As soon as they opened it, they were delighted with the many coins and also a paper that seemed to be a letter:
(The Red Sage predicted the end of all Valyria, flames will burn everything and only the commoners who have faith in his vision will escape the end, we need to leave Valyria as soon as possible signed: Spotted Wolf).
The two boys were soon frightened and ran to show the letter to their parents.
'I must have been very subtle... Whether they believe it or not doesn't matter, but it should be enough to spread the rumor among other commoners and maybe some will listen and actually escape the disaster in time. I can't risk being more aggressive than that because it could hurt me a lot.'
Not far from the boys' house I dropped a sealed letter near a vegetable stand, it was already closed, but the owner should find it tomorrow. The message was similar, only this time it was one friend warning the other to leave the city while sending 2 silver coins to help him with expenses. The name of the Red Sage was mentioned again. Rafael chose this name to add a little more mystery and mysticism to the rumors he planned to spread. If things got too out of hand and there was more chaos it wouldn't be bad, besides already having his own ship, he even had new ways to use this chaos to his advantage.
Rafael soon returned to his residential area when it was almost 10 pm. He stopped at Ted's house with his lunchbox before apologizing for being late and giving him some instructions for tomorrow. With two lunchboxes in hand he went inside and saw his father still awake, he greeted him and apologized for being late before giving him one of the lunchboxes and sitting down to eat at the table with him.
Anurys was a bastard of the Targaryens and was currently 42 years old. With all the traits of the Valyrian people and an older copy of Rafael himself, Anurys has always lived a simple and ordinary life since he was young. His mother, who was a commoner, left him when he was still a teenager due to an illness and since then he has been on his own. Later, when he was an adult, he met a young commoner woman who he fell in love with. They got married and had little Rafael. But before the son was even 1 and a half years old, his mother ran away, leaving the baby behind. It was a terrible blow for the kind and gentle Anurys to bear. Without understanding what he had done wrong, he threw away the letter and the money she had left for Rafael, blaming the woman for her coldness and refusing to accept any help she had left.
This was because the letter did not explain the reason for her departure. After a long time, he recovered and today he can even say that he had a stable life with his own store. Nothing too luxurious, but the best that simplicity could offer. He always told the whole story to the old Rafael, but the boy was angry at his father for throwing away the money that belonged to him as a form of inheritance from his mother. He never said this out loud to his father, carrying these thoughts with him until the day he died in a dark and cold alley.
None of this story mattered to the current Rafael, not his mother, not his father and all that complicated relationship. He was a completely different person and a mature man on top of it all.
But he owed the old Rafael for this new lease on life and he would repay him by saving his old father from disaster. He also hoped that his old body on earth had been taken over by the young Rafael and he would have a new lease on life too, but he couldn't confirm that. There was also a small chance that he had been Rafael his whole life, and only recovered memories of a past life when he faced death, but he put those thoughts aside and decided to believe that it was a new soul possessing this body since it was easier and didn't involve so many complicated feelings.
"Anyway, let's get to the important part here," I put a bag of 50 gold coins on the table and tell my father about a ship heading to Westeros in 2 days. I explain that the 14 flames are becoming unstable... It's only a matter of days before everything is destroyed. And if he doesn't comply with my request, I'll force him to take a ship if necessary.
Of course, I don't say the second part of the sentence and just think about it. My father said he would think about it. I tell him that I've already taken care of the arrangements involving the store and not to try to sell it. I also reinforce that he only has one day, also warning him of the consequences and problems of destinations other than Westeros. It would be too dangerous for him to go anywhere else, but I tell him that Dragonstone could be a good place for his new store. He just remains silent, listening to the last part and reflecting, I say goodbye while thinking that all of this was easier than I imagined, I believe that Omar's words had a greater weight due to his "nobility". I leave my father alone and go to bed, the days are passing quickly and I still have many things to do before the end of Valyria.
