The Aura of a Broken Dragon

Chapter 22: Chapter 22

Vali swiftly raced towards the origin of the shot, his senses alert and his curiosity piqued. However, as he reached the area, the powerful energy signature vanished, leaving Vali perplexed. He couldn't help but wonder about the immense strength possessed by this unknown being. From effortlessly defeating lower level fallen angels to overpowering Kokabiel, who was considered relatively weak among the Cadre, it was evident that this being wielded formidable power.

Albion, speaking through Vali's wings, conveyed his unease with a hint of nervousness in his voice. "Vali, whatever you do, do not approach that being unless I explicitly tell you to." Vali noticed that it was rare for Albion to exhibit such concern for his safety. The question lingered in Vali's mind: Who was this being that even made Albion slightly apprehensive?

"Albion, who was that?" Vali inquired, his curiosity and caution intertwining.

"I know it's unwise to disclose this information, but those were the flames of Ddraig," Albion confessed. Vali was no stranger to the name Ddraig, but he couldn't fathom why those flames would instill fear. While Ddraig possessed considerable power, the flames themselves seemed ordinary. "I apologize for not informing you earlier, but Ddraig and I possessed unique flames. To put it simply, his flames had the potential to reduce gods to mere ashes. I believe you can connect the dots."

Vali was stunned by the revelation. That small ball of flames that streaked by earlier was none other than the very flames Albion spoke of. "Could my Juggernaut Drive-"

"If you wish to be incinerated into oblivion, then by all means, proceed," Albion cautioned. "I'm warning you, Vali. This generation's Red Dragon Emperor is different. I can't comprehend how this is possible. It shouldn't be, but it's beyond outrageous." Albion was still grappling with the idea that someone, particularly Vali's rival's partner, had access to those formidable flames.

"Do we inform Azazel about this?" Vali asked, contemplating the gravity of the situation.

"Yes, we must," Albion replied with a heavy sigh. The supernatural world was now faced with an escalating terror.

Meanwhile, Rias laid on the ground, her one eye open while the other remained shut to prevent further blood from entering. "Am... Am I still alive?" she muttered weakly, attempting to move her body, only to find it unresponsive. Kokabiel had left her with a battered and broken body, rendering her conscious but immobile.

Rias was still on the ground, looking up with one eye while the other was closed shut to prevent more blood from entering into it. "Huh, am I still alive?" She tried to move her body, but it wasn't going to move. Kokabiel had basically totaled her body, leaving her into a conscious mind that couldn't move. The only thing that she could do was realize that she was saved by a small ball of flames that incinerated Kokabiel into ashes... "That person... That person was my hero... I must know who it was... And thank them."

Sirzechs had arrived with the reinforcements only to see the legendary three-headed dog in a corner terrified of approaching the battlefield and a pile of ashes near Rias. Rias's entire peerage was quickly sent to medical attention immediately and Sirzechs could only clench his fist in anger in seeing his broken sister laying on the ground. Grayfia could be seen shedding tears in seeing the disaster that occurred. Sirzechs could only sigh. Seeing that the three-headed dog was here, Sirzechs knew that Hades was involved. It was time for him to make a visit with that specific underworld deity. However, with Azazel, upon hearing things from Vali, he could only hold his head in frustration.

"The Red Dragon Emperor is a monster. For him to unlock the flames of Ddraig. Never have I ever heard of another host unlocking that ability. It only has been a couple of months since I last saw him, even then. He could barely handle middle-class beings... Was it because he turned into a dragon and having a sacred gear combine that with his aura being unlocked. Vali will be no match for him. Those flames are way too much." Azazel couldn't understand, "What if he goes berserk? What if he goes against the principles of peace? I won't be able to handle him. I will definitely need Sirzechs to be involved."

Sitting down and finally grabbing the entire bottle of whiskey that he placed next to him and chugging it, Azazel began drowning in the complaints that he received from the other faction leaders. The amount of shit that he needed to deal with was absurd. Let him have a break for once.

While Azazel was sitting down and thinking to himself, the Gremorys' were suffering the worse.

Blood was was everywhere, staining the ground and casting a dark shadow over the battlefield. Limbs... They hung lifelessly, severed by the brutal force of the battle. The moon shone down upon the chaotic scene, its pale light illuminating the carnage.

Amidst the chaos, there stood Rias Gremory, her heart pounding with fear and sorrow. She watched in horror as one by one, her friends, comrades, and even her family fell before the overwhelming power of their opponent. Desperation filled her as she fought against the waves of despair that threatened to consume her.

The face of her enemy haunted her, his malevolent presence lingering in her mind. Questions tormented her: Why was he here? Why couldn't she find respite from this nightmare? Why must this grim reality be her truth?

In her dream, a light spear materialized, spiraling through the air before piercing her body with merciless precision. Pain seared through her, and she could almost feel the warmth of her own blood trailing behind the deadly weapon. With a final gasp, her body succumbed to the wounds, and her lifeless form crumpled to the ground.

Rias abruptly awakened, drenched in sweat, her senses gradually adjusting to the bright lights overhead. As she attempted to move, she discovered her body encased in casts and bandages, the remnants of her devastating injuries. A dull ache spread throughout her being, and even the slightest motion sent waves of agony coursing through her.

Her memories were a jumble, fragmented and elusive. The last recollection she could grasp was the one-sided battle with Kokabiel, his power brought her to the brink of death within seconds. Flashes of Koneko lying in a pool of blood and Akeno's torn wings flashed through her mind. She vaguely recalled a figure in black armor coming to their aid, turning the tide of the battle.

As her thoughts cleared, Rias became acutely aware of her own vulnerability. Once accustomed to strength and independence, she now lay helpless in a hospital bed, her broken body a testament to her defeat. A swell of frustration mingled with her physical pain, leaving her feeling powerless.

However, fear crept into her consciousness. What if Kokabiel returned? What if he sought to finish what he had started, to snuff out her life once and for all? Rias knew the vast disparity in their powers; she was no match for him. In the face of such uncertainty, doubt plagued her.

"Mistress Gremory, please try to remain calm. You're safe now," a nurse gently reassured her, noticing the signs of panic on Rias's face. She encouraged Rias to focus on positive thoughts, to believe in her own safety and survival.

Summoning her strength, Rias gradually found solace in memories of the enigmatic figure who had saved her and her peerage. This mysterious individual had triumphed over Kokabiel, becoming their savior in a time of despair. Gratitude swelled within Rias, eclipsing her anxiety. She yearned for his presence, longing to express her heartfelt appreciation. The thought of having him as a guardian or even a friend filled her with a sense of security she hadn't known before.

As Rias lay in her hospital bed, contemplating the events that had transpired, the sound of the door opening broke her reverie. She turned her head, her eyes alighting upon her brother, Sirzechs, entering the room. Concern and relief mingled in his expression as he hurried over to her bedside.

"Rias, are you alright?" he inquired, his voice betraying his deep worry.

With a weak nod, Rias managed a small smile. She was grateful to see her brother, knowing that his presence alone brought a measure of comfort and assurance.

Sirzechs settled into a seat beside her, taking her hand in his. His voice was filled with genuine remorse as he spoke, "I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I wish I could have protected you."

Squeezing his hand in response, Rias felt a surge of affection for her brother. Despite his fearsome reputation as a devil, he remained a caring and devoted sibling, always looking out for her well-being.

"It's alright now. At least Kokabiel has been defeated," Rias murmured, trying to inject a hopeful note into the conversation.

Her brother's gaze turned contemplative; his words laced with curiosity. "Speaking of Kokabiel, who saved you?"

Rias nodded, a glimmer of excitement dancing in her eyes. "I don't know who it was, but the only thing that I remember seeing was a small ball of flame incinerating Kokabiel."

"You wish to meet him, don't you?" Sirzechs discerned, understanding his sister's yearning.

Rias's voice brimmed with determination as she replied, "Yes, I want to express my gratitude to him properly. He saved my peerage, he saved me."

Sirzechs nodded, acknowledging the newfound admiration and gratitude Rias held for her mysterious savior. With a smile, he bid her farewell, promising that their parents would soon visit. As he left the room, he made a mental note to find any information he could about that man.

In her hospital bed, Rias closed her eyes, picturing the faceless hero in her mind. She couldn't help but hope for a chance to meet him, to offer her thanks, and perhaps even find a steadfast ally in the turbulent world she inhabited.

While Rias was beginning to calm down from the absolute massacre that happened to her peerage, Issei could be seen sitting down on the same hill that he sniped Kokabiel.

"What should I do? What should I do? Training is getting a little boring... What should I do?"

"Are you just going to continue saying that?"

Issei stopped for a second before, "What should I do?"

"Partner, I don't know, eat some ice cream or something." Ddraig couldn't handle hearing his partner say the same thing again.

"Ddraig, what should I do to get stronger? You even said that I would get decimated by the higher-ups in the supernatural world."

"I knew this was going to be asked. Partner, I want you to think this through. Currently, all the power that you have been using, the ones with special abilities, are from me. I am a dragon that had awakened his aura which allowed me to use these abilities. Partner, you have awakened your aura and the power, and the desire are completely different from my own. My power desired domination. Your power desires brutality, vengeance, and annihilation. What if you train in the way of obtaining your own abilities? If you could use those abilities and combine them with the boosted gear's abilities, then who knows how powerful you'll become."

Issei thought about that before asking, "If that is true would I be able to obtain my own flames that could kill the very gods?"

"The field has been opened. Anything can happen. This power Is it yours to change to your liking?" Ddraig was glad that he finally broke Issei out of his trance.

While Ddraig was glad of that, Issei began thinking about what his partner was saying... His own ability... What could that be?
