The Butcher of Sargon (Renekton, The Butcher of The Sand in Arknight)

Chapter 32: Garde's Decision

“Garde!”

As soon as Garde returned to the tribe, he saw Gavial rushing over in a rage.

“Where have you been these past two days?”

Gavial had been tossing and turning these past few days since Garde disappeared after the strange woman visited him. Seeing Garde return now, she breathed a sigh of relief.

“Garde, what about that woman with white hair?”

Gavial glanced behind Garde and noticed he was alone, which eased her worries.

“She’s gone back to where she belongs.”

After Lauretina and Gladiia left, Garde sat by the river for a long time before finally getting up and returning to Acahualla.

He knew that someone was watching him, even as his figure disappeared into the horizon. He had made a dangerous deal with the Seaborn’s “god” or rather, any deal with the Seaborn was inherently risky.

He had swallowed the bait from the Seaborn, allowing it to leave a marker on him so that it could find him wherever he went along the river. Garde had used himself as a bargaining chip to buy more time.

His presence had already altered the course of events, with even Saria showing up in Sargon. What else was impossible? He couldn’t bet on Lauretina surviving like in the original storyline, so he chose to trade with the Seaborn’s god to increase Lauretina’s chances of survival.

However, he didn’t want to wake up one day and find a wet Seaborn lying next to him, looking at him with a shy expression. Garde felt he would definitely have nightmares. So, he had decided to change!

“Gavial, what about Saria and the others?”

“Saria?”

Gavial noticed Garde’s change in addressing Saria but didn’t dwell on it, pointing towards the distance.

“I was just about to tell you, they’re preparing to leave. They say they’ve been here too long and just hope to see you one last time before they go.”

“I see.”

Noticing the situation here, a woman who was directing her subordinates to pack approached.

“Mr. Garde!”

Dressed again in heavy protective gear and holding her shield, Saria walked over.

“Is everything settled over there?”

“Uh, sort of.”

Recalling the absurd day with Lauretina, Garde felt a little guilty under Saria’s unsmiling face. However, the instincts carved into his body always made him unintentionally glance at Saria’s lips and earlobes.

Undoubtedly, Saria was a very charming woman. Although she usually didn’t smile and seemed serious, for men, such women were even more attractive. Moreover, Garde had seen Saria’s figure under the heavy protective suit, her shoulders wider than ordinary women due to years of training, her muscles more defined, and the outline of her abs faintly visible. Compared to her body, Saria’s waist was slim, and behind her waist, a brown-red dragon tail swayed from time to time. Under her tight shorts, her buttocks were firm and elastic.

Even in Acahualla, women like Saria were sought after by many Adakrys people. Because Saria’s body looked very healthy, and children born to healthy women were generally very healthy, and the milk during lactation would be more abundant than that of ordinary women.

Saria noticed the change in Garde’s eyes for a moment, but due to his crocodile face, Saria couldn’t guess what Garde was thinking just now.

“Well, because we’ve been here for a long time.”

Without dwelling too much, Saria had a great appreciation for the crocodile person in front of her. If it weren’t for knowing it was impossible, she really wanted to dig him into her defense department.

“Are you still unwilling to give up entering that place?”

“Yes, because the company I belong to has encountered some problems. I must find enough chips to change the current situation.”

If this were before, Saria would definitely not say these things to Garde in person.

However, in the battle with the Seaborn, Saria saw Garde’s persistence and sense of responsibility. If she hadn’t brought the people from the Wilderness Will tribe with her in the end, Garde would have fought alone until the end, right?

This was both good and bad about Garde.

“Rhine Lab was founded by me and a friend from my university days. We hoped it would bring change to Colombia, creating a sanctuary exclusively for research personnel.”

“But, obviously, it’s not as easy as we imagined.”

“The struggles between various companies, the suppression from politicians, and the shareholders’ pursuit of profit have made me realize that achieving our dreams in Colombia is not simple.”

Saria looked at Garde earnestly.

“So, Mr. Garde, even if you’re unwilling to take us into that forbidden land, I sincerely hope you can organize a copy of the notes left by your father and give it to us.”

Accepting Garde’s words meant that, even if Saria faced others from the outside world in the future, she would use such rhetoric.

In this way, Garde would not be the warrior who emerged from the hot soil but rather an Adakrys scholar longing for a better life in Colombia.

This would alleviate many of Garde’s troubles.

If this were before, Garde would definitely agree to Saria’s approach. After all, it didn’t matter how the notes were written.

Lauretina’s departure had changed Garde’s mindset.

Even without fighting, Garde had been getting stronger all along.

As long as he continued to adapt to his abilities and learn to control his anger, he would become extraordinarily powerful one day.

But how long would this process take?

Five years? Ten years?

Or longer?

Garde couldn’t wait that long, Lauretina couldn’t wait that long, and the Seaborn definitely couldn’t wait that long.

So, Garde needed to become stronger.

Even in the face of natural disasters!

“Saria, can you ensure that your Rhine Lab will truly become the paradise you described, exclusively for research personnel?”

Garde’s words made Saria pause, not understanding why he was asking this.

But Saria nodded firmly.

“Yes, I will dedicate my life to ensuring that the future of Rhine Lab belongs only to every research worker who works for the welfare of humanity!”

“Hmph, remember what you said.”

The future of Rhine Lab appeared in his mind, and he recalled Saria’s actions in the future.

Even if Rhine Lab eventually deviated from its original intentions and became corrupt, the woman before him had never backed down.

“Saria!”

The crocodile person looked at Saria, extending his hand and revealing a chilling grin.

“I trust you, so I agreed. I will take you to the Foehn Hotland!”

“But I will keep an eye on you, on Rhine Lab.”

“So, don’t disappoint me!”
