The Calling of Wrath: A Medieval LitRPG Apocalypse

B2 | Chapter 38 - The Borderlands

Cassandra

Year 820 | Month 5 | Day 9

I quickly find several issues that are rather important.

For one, the other archdemons are all between level 60 to level 70. Which makes me stand out even more since, while they can’t tell what my level is, everyone can tell what Tier I am. Since they still know what Tiers are even if they don’t know about the System.

For two, I stand out even more than I thought for the mere fact that I have a face.

And the third issue is that I have heard news of the Demon King sending out high demons in search of me. Which… uh… is annoying.

They’re actually not antagonistic, but now I’m starting to have to sneak into cities again. Because the annoying demons won’t leave me alone.

Although sneaking into cities is very difficult, what with all of the Wrath energy I’m emitting all the time.

That aside, the last of the issues I’ve come across is that I’m absorbing the Wrath energy everywhere I go on accident. And I have no idea how to turn that off.

I grit my teeth as I glance behind myself at the path I’ve made. A rather obvious path that I know demons are following me through.

It’s making sneaking around the Fallen Plane of Hell rather… difficult. When I’m literally leaving a trail behind me. Like bread crumbs.

There is one benefit though. Since I’ve noticed that my Wrath Transformation is actually progressing without me even having to use The Calling of Wrath. Simply by absorbing Wrath energy as I walk.

Now that is rather convenient.

Anyways, I continue flying through the air over the ocean using my cloud of Wrath lightning. At this point I’m just moving in a straight line in the directions of the place the demons call the ‘borderlands’. Which is a place that is filled with a lot of monsters, just like a lot of the locations back on Midgard. Except it’s far larger than something like the Dark Forest and is pretty much an entire continent.

Also, all of the monsters formed in the Plane of Wrath are monsters of the Wrath Sin. And nothing but the Wrath Sin. Because this plane is, once again, full of Wrath Sin energy.

And the borderlands are full of a lot of Wrath energy as well. Hence why the monsters all form there.

Which should make the place a good place to increase my Wrath Transformation.

I smile at the thought of going back to my origins, so to speak. Since I started this entire little journey of mine by fighting monsters on my own in the Dark Forest.

Except this time there won’t be a Thrix 2.

Actually, on that note, I wonder what happened to Thrix 2? The last I saw him, I’d dumped him on the soldiers to take care of.

I hope he’s doing okay. What with me forgetting about him and leaving him again.

Especially since I’m likely going to be here for a rather long time. Until I can figure out how to get back to Midgard.

Putting aside the matter of the duck thing, I continue flying through the air for hours until I finally get within sight of the continent. A continent that is filled with both mountains and thick forests. With the forests being on top of the mountains.

Although this forest isn’t as heavily covered as the Dark Forest, which had such a thick canopy that it was always dark underneath. Even during the day.

But more importantly, I see monsters on the shores. Starting with large crabs that are walking… uh… like normal creatures. Not like crabs.

Which is a very bizarre sight.

Crabs should only walk side to side. They shouldn’t be walking forwards.

It’s just weird.

Very weird.

The crabs are the only weird thing down there though.

I glance at the other monsters on the coast, including some large fish, a few two headed sharks, and some more fish. Lots of piranhas to be specific.

There’s also the strange half-deer, half-wolf creatures roaming around the edge of the forest. Monsters with front halves that are wolves and back halves that are deer.

Nothing strange to see there. But the crabs that are walking forwards and backwards?

Those are weird as hell.

Even their size of two meters in length from leg to leg isn’t that weird in the normal sense of how monsters are.

I nod my head, completely firm in that belief.

Other than the strange crabs and the other normal monsters, the monsters are all filled with Wrath energy. To the point that for some reason they all look appetizing to me. Which makes me wonder if I can absorb their Wrath energy by eating them or something.

I glance behind me down the ocean to find some high demons still chasing after me a very far distance away. So far that it’ll probably take hours for them to reach me, and I can only see them thanks to my recent increase in perception from reaching Tier 4.

After watching them for a second, I turn back to the coast to find the monsters all staring up at me. Except the crabs for some reason.

Strange crabs.

I fly down to the coast before finally dismissing my Wrath lightning. Then I focus on the monsters again while identifying them.

Or rather, identifying the strange crabs.

Name: N/A

Species: Wrathful Crab

Level: 11

________________________

A rather simple name. Most likely for the fact that they have Wrath energy.

The moment my feet touch the ground the crabs immediately turn towards me and begin charging like wild dogs, making frothy noises from their mouth while pinching their pincers over and over again. Like they’re just packs of angry hounds.

Uh… or maybe the name is because they’re rather aggressive? Possibly?

I zap them all with Wrath lightning, turning them to red ash in moments thanks to them being Tier 2 and therefore weak as hell.

Then I casually begin walking into the forest while zapping the other nearby monsters.

Well, time to see the rest of the borderlands.
