The Curse of Time (Harry Potter Fanfic)

A terrifying nightmare

Pov ??,

I rush somewhere, knowing what I will find.

No matter how fast I go, I’m not fast enough. I hope that by going faster, things might not be as I fear.

It took me thirty seconds to reach my destination, but it felt like thirty minutes, each second making my heart beat harder.

Now, it beats so loudly that even a drum would pale in comparison.

The scene before me would chill anyone’s blood. What had once been a standing village just hours ago was now in ruins.

Corpses lay scattered across the streets—mutilated, dismembered, or burned bodies everywhere.

When I reached the village square, my worst fear became reality.

There, a woman had been crucified and burned alive.

I could still feel her heart faintly beating. From her mouth came soft, desperate sounds, begging to be killed.

Tears were streaming from my eyes and kept flowing as I saw another body, beheaded, with the head impaled on a spear.

My body continued to shake.

'Why?'

My sadness had reached an unimaginable limit.

'Why do you harm the innocent?'

From this deep sadness, a powerful anger was born—hatred, a desire for revenge, a thirst for blood that would make those seeking justice seem like mere children throwing a tantrum.

'I’m going to KILL you.'

In that moment, I felt my soul shatter as it was consumed by ghostly green flames.

Pov Evelyn,

I was quietly sleeping in my bed when I felt someone hug me from behind.

"You really need to stop sneaking into my bed."

"But I need comfort. I had a nightmare."

"I’m not your mother, and besides, you’re old enough not to let something like that weigh on you anymore."

"But this nightmare was so terrifying, any adult, even the most courageous, would have been scared by it."

Sensing a hint of fear in her voice, I decided to let her sleep with me, but I warned her that this was the only time.

The next day was Christmas. Marie and I began trying to guess our gifts based on their packaging.

It was hilarious, especially when our guesses were completely wrong, and we ended up with gifts that were the total opposite of what we predicted.

Hagrid gave us biscuits that were very hard, but after soaking them in milk long enough, they became soft and quite tasty.

I received a book from Hermione about the past ten years, and the funny thing was, I had given her the same gift.

We headed to the Great Hall and made a promise to enjoy the day to its fullest.

After the meal, we headed to the large room where we had tried to make everything look festive.

There was a book on display that talked about ancient traditions in both the wizarding world and among Muggles.

But there were other things too (author’s note: I honestly have no idea what else could be there, but anyway, Evelyn and Marie found it very entertaining).

While passing by the library, I overheard Harry and Ron talking about an invisibility cloak that Harry had apparently received.

I was very curious to see if this cloak was the one from the tale, or if it was simply a cloak enchanted with a Disillusionment Charm.

The rest of the day was rather peaceful. Later in the afternoon, we went to Hagrid’s hut to thank him for his gift and to keep him company, as he must get a bit lonely at times.
