The Distant Remnant Mirror (RWBY X LIMBUS COMPANY)

Chapter 16: Chapter 6: Adjusting To New Power

The training hall was thick with tension, its silence broken only by the occasional clink of weapons being adjusted and distant murmurs. Team RWBY and JNPR had gathered, their usual camaraderie fractured by the weight of their newfound abilities. Each of them carried an unspoken burden, their identities resonating with the powers they had gained.

Ruby sat apart, her hood pulled low, hiding her bandaged face. Crimson Scar rested across her lap, the jagged weapon a reflection of her new self. Her mind swirled with thoughts of the "damn wolf," the one she couldn't shake from her head. The hunt for it consumed her, driving her every breath.

Blake leaned against the far wall, her peg leg tapping a steady rhythm against the floorboards. Her piercing golden eyes scanned the room as though assessing her crew. She muttered to herself about "Monstra," the Leviathan whale that haunted her dreams—a beast that demanded her relentless pursuit.

Nearby, Pyrrha stood still, her spear resting against the floor, its golden tip gleaming faintly. She hadn't spoken much since gaining her E.G.O, her solemn demeanor now even more pronounced. Though her eyes were covered by bandages, it was as if she could see through everyone, silently weighing their every word and action.

The usually loud and cheerful Nora sat cross-legged on the floor, her oversized woolen sweater crackling faintly with static. Her electrified claws and hammer rested in her lap, twitching occasionally as sparks danced between her ram-like horns. Her typical energy seemed muted, replaced by excitement.

Ren, standing just behind her, looked as calm as ever, though his dual blades hung at his sides with a readiness that hadn't been there before. His stoic demeanor seemed deeper now, his gaze distant as though he were lost in thoughts of unseen battles.

Yang broke the silence, her voice carrying her usual confidence but tinged with unease. "Alright, what's going on with everyone? Ruby, you're acting like some lone wolf out for blood. Blake, you've been mumbling about whales for hours. And Pyrrha, you're… quiet. That's not like you."

Weiss crossed her arms, her voice sharp but uncertain. "It's obvious, isn't it? These powers, these E.G.O, they're more than just tools. They're changing us."

Dante stepped forward, his clock-like face ticking softly, the sound cutting through the tension. His voice echoed, calm but urgent.

Ruby lifted her head slightly, her singular yellow eye glinting from under her hood. "So what? This power makes me stronger. If it helps me hunt that damn wolf, then who cares ?"

Blake's voice was sharp, carrying the commanding tone of a captain. "Ruby's right. Strength and focus are what we need to win. Monstra doesn't care about my feelings—it's the hunt that matters."

Pyrrha's soft voice cut through the air, solemn yet resolute. "The scales must remain balanced. If this is the cost of maintaining justice, then I will carry it."

Weiss's grip tightened on Myrtenaster as she frowned. "And what if we lose ourselves? What if this power takes over completely?"

Yang clenched her fists, her gauntlets sparking faintly. "Yeah, we're stronger, but what's the point if we're not… us anymore?"

Nora glanced up, her claws twitching slightly. "But it's fun, isn't it? Feeling the electricity run through you, knowing you can do so much more than before. It's… it's addictive." She paused, her usual cheerfulness faltering. "But maybe it's too much."

Ren placed a hand on her shoulder, his voice calm but firm. "Addictive or not, it's dangerous. These powers amplify what's already inside us, but that doesn't mean we should let them take control."

Dante raised a hand, his voice steady.

Dante continue, his tone firm but understanding.

Blake stepped forward, her golden eyes narrowing. "So what do we do? Just pretend these identities aren't there? Ignore the pull?"

Dante replied.

Ruby stood, her hood falling back slightly as she gripped Crescent Rose. Her voice was cold but resolute. "Fine. I'll keep it in check… for now. But when the time comes, I won't hesitate to use it. That wolf won't escape me again."

Blake nodded, her tone as commanding as ever. "Understood. The captain always maintains control of the ship. Even in a storm."

Pyrrha gave a small, solemn nod, her voice almost a whisper. :Balance will be maintained."

Nora sighed, her horns sparking faintly.

Jaune remained quiet for a moment before speaking, his voice steady. "We'll watch out for each other. That's how we keep ourselves grounded."

Weiss flicked her hair back, a hint of her usual haughtiness returning. "Well, as long as we all behave, I suppose I can manage."

Dante's ticking grew softer, his tone almost relieved.

As the group began to prepare for their next training session, the tension in the room began to ease, though the shadow of their new identities lingered. Ruby's thoughts drifted to the wolf, Blake to Monstra, and the others to the struggles they would face.
