The Don and His Diva

Chapter 8: Plan for a plan

"How dare he!" Maril seethed with anger. "How dare that scumbag hurt my friend! I'm going to kill him."

"Maril, calm down please." Selene grasped her hand and looked around her warily. She heaved in relief when she noticed no one was looking at them.

"I won't calm down, Selene. There is no way in hell I'll calm down." Maril's expression eased, but her eyes were emitting flames of fury. "He hurt you. Nobody gets to hurt you. No one."

Selene was touched by her concern and friendship. Maril was a true friend, who only wanted her well-being and happiness, unlike her who had not heeded to her warnings. Blind in her love and the joy of finding someone attractive, she hadn't given much thought and had accepted his confession when he had approached her.

"What have you thought of doing now? Did you break up with him?"

"Not yet. I only found out the truth the day before yesterday. I haven't met him or spoken to him after that." Selene shook her head and looked at her fingers.

"You should break up with him first. After that, we'll teach him a lesson, or we could do it the other way as well. I think that would be more exciting." Maril cracked her knuckles as she imagined herself punching the man's teeth. He deserved to have his teeth broken for his disgusting behavior, and she would make sure of it.

"Maril, please don't do anything. I will handle this matter myself," Selene begged. Her voice shook with desperation and fear. She didn't intend to trouble her friend.

"Don't worry. It's not a big deal for me. You know how much I love putting despicable people in their places. That scumbag needs to be taught a lesson, and I'll make sure he'll never cheat on another lady again," Maril stated with such conviction that Selene did not doubt that she'd act upon her words the moment they departed from the mall.

"Maril...." Selene was helpless. She had asked to meet Maril so that she could share her worries and lighten the weight on her heart, not encourage her friend to prepare for a battle. "I cannot stop you, can I?"

Maril shook her head, stating her resolve on this matter and Selene, eventually, gave up persuading her.

"Are you hungry? Shall we eat something?" Although Maril had had her fill with the egg casserole, she was slowly starting to feel hungry.

"Sure. What do you want to eat? It'll be my treat." Selene looked around the food court searching for something to eat.

"Why are you this generous today?" Maril teased, making Selene let out a chuckle.

"When have I not been?"

"True. What do you have in mind?"

"How about dumplings? I heard good reviews about the new dumpling restaurant in this food court," Selene suggested, her eyes fixed on the dumpling restaurant not far away.

"Dumplings?" Maril licked her lips. "That works. It's been a long time since I had dumplings." She had no issues with the suggestion and the two ladies picked up their bags and went to buy the dumplings.

It was sometime past 2 by the time they were done eating. They had no idea how time had passed. It was not until Selene's phone rang that they stopped talking.

Selene's expression changed when she saw who it was. Her finger hovered above the accept button as she hesitated. She didn't want to speak to her boyfriend at all. The mere thought of him made her feel repugnant. Who knew for how long he had been involved with his superior? He was dirty, and she never liked anything dirty."

"Pick up the call," Maril urged from the side when she saw Selene's expression. She didn't have to guess who was calling. Her friend's disgusted face said it all. "Answer the call. Let's see what he has got to say."

Selene nodded and let out a deep breath before she answered the call.

Maril leaned forward and observed her calmly. Her ears were focused on her friend's words, and she didn't miss any change in her tone, if any.

"Okay." Selene glanced at Maril before ending the call a few minutes later.

"What does he want?"

"He wants to take me out to dinner." Selene rolled her eyes. She thought the situation to be ironic. When she was with him, the man didn't give her much of his time. Now that she had decided to break up with him, he was trying to please her.

"Are you going?"

"I don't know, Maril. I'm not sure." Selene bit her lip in confusion.

"Go."

"What!"

"I suggest you go and make him spend big bucks," Maril explained her idea to her.

"What? Why would I do that?"

"Silly girl, listen to me first." Maril stopped her before she misunderstood her. "Make him spend big bucks on the dinner and once you're done, break up with him."

"Can I do that?" Selene was tempted by her plan. She really wanted to do it, but she was scared. Unlike Maril who was a bold and fearless woman, she was as meek as a mouse. It took her a lot of courage to even think of doing something nasty, let alone doing it.

"Why not? This is time for revenge. Make him cry tears of blood." Maril raised her fist and gave her the encouragement and the courage she needed.

"Okay, I'll do as you say." Selene was convinced by her, and she decided to go along with the plan.

"Once you break up with him, I'll break his legs. He'll not dare to cheat in his life again," Maril promised, and Selene shook her head when she saw how galvanized she was.

"You'll never change."

"Do I have to? Aren't I lovely like this?" Maril placed her palms underneath her chin and shot hearts through her eyes and Selene's heart melted.

Maril behaved like a small child sometimes, cute and lively. But sometimes, she would be that adult who anyone could share their problems with and seek her advice. And these contradictory traits were what made her unique and special.

"Yes, please don't change," Selene acknowledged and Maril shot her a wink.

"I think I should go. Since I will be breaking up with him, I had better throw all his things out." Selene stood up and picked up her bag.

"Do you need any help?"

"No, Maril. Thank you."

"Text me the address. I'll be ready with my sack and boxing gloves." Maril picked up her bags and gave her a look that said if she didn't text her, she would not speak to her for weeks.

"I will. Don't worry. I won't foil your plan," Selene pledged and Maril nodded at her in satisfaction.

"Okay. I will wait for your message."

"Sure. Thank you, Maril."

"Not a problem, cutie." Maril threw her a kiss and Selene let out a helpless smile.

"Aren't you coming down?"

"I have a few things I forgot to buy. You go ahead." Maril now had a list of items she had to buy. It would aid her in teaching the scumbag a lesson.

"Fine then. Bye."

The two women separated. While Selene returned home to discard the unwanted things, Maril bought the equipment she wanted.

By the time she reached the garage, it was some time past four.

Maril dropped her bags on the small sofa placed near the wall before she started examining the car they had used the previous night. Since Yoda was nowhere near it, it meant he had finished sanitizing it.

The car smelt fresh and breathable. The seats were impeccably clean, and she didn't find blood or stains anywhere. Satisfied, she clapped in approval.

"Good job, Yoda," she praised the man who was waiting for her certificate.

"Always." He beamed.

"Get ready, folks. We have to teach someone a lesson." Maril patted her hands and placed them on her hips.

"Who?" Yoda asked curiously, while Rambo just moved his eyes away from his laptop to look at her.

"Selene's trash of a boyfriend who soon will be her ex." Maril's eyes were fixed on Rambo more and a smirk made its way to her lips when she saw his stunned appearance.

"What? Did Selene break up with him?" Yoda was surprised, and his gossip radar got activated at once. He didn't notice Rambo's strange expression, for all his attention was on Maril.

"She will tonight and once she does, we will break his teeth and limbs."

"Count me in. Anytime to kick some ass."

"Good. What about you, Rambo?"

"I'm in as well." Rambo's voice trembled, and he was having a hard time suppressing his excitement. Although he felt terrible for Selene, he was nevertheless thrilled and looking forward to meeting her after a long time. He hadn't met her since she got together with her boyfriend.

"Good. I have bought all the things we might need this time. We just need to capture him once Selene gives us the signal." Maril then explained her plan to them and the men listened to her intently.

Poor Maril had no idea that not just the two men present in the garage but the man she had been irked with the previous night had listened to her master plan as well.

The moment Maril returned to the garage, Anthony texted him and Rhysand had opened the listening app. At first, he didn't hear her voice much. But soon, not only did he hear her praise her underling, but she even went on to explain the mission they had to accomplish in a few hours.

Rhysand was impressed. The lady had a warm heart, and she would never allow anyone she cared about to suffer any injustice. Although her plan was childish, it was impeccable considering the kind of man she was plotting against.

All of a sudden, Rhysand's eyes twinkled, and a plan started to fabricate in his mind. 'Why don't I use this situation to my advantage?' he wondered and pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek.

'Maril doesn't know it was I she met yesterday. So, why don't I use this opportunity to meet her?' His sharp mind started to design the plan and in no time, he had finished drafting all the steps.

Rhysand could already envision what Maril's expression would be, and he let out a hearty laugh. "Maril, get ready to be surprised."

Not just Maril and her friends, but even Rhysand started to prepare for the evening, and he dragged Luca to help him along with Anthony.

"Don't mess up the plan. Otherwise, you know what will happen," Rhysand warned and Luca gulped. He was scared, alright. At the same time, he was aggrieved too. "Don, why aren't you warning Anthony? Isn't he in this plan as well?"

"He has never messed up before," Rhysand deadpanned, and that shut Luca up.

'I should just remain silent. Otherwise, Don will not spare me with his words,' Luca thought.

Rhysand didn't know when Maril would start executing her plan. So, he was waiting outside the garage with Luca and Anthony two hours after he learned of her master plan. Quite a few cars were parked on the street and a lot of people were walking nearby. So, they didn't have to worry about being spotted.

While Luca tried to speak to a taciturn Anthony, Rhysand started eavesdropping on the conversation inside the garage.

"How long, Diva?" He heard one of the men ask.

"Soon. The scumbag has already picked up Selene, and they are on the way. Once they reach the place, she'll text me the address."

Rhysand heard Maril reply.

"Got it," Maril shouted. "Selene is at Café Ocean View. Let's go."

Rhysand held his breath and looked at the garage intently and soon after, a black car drove out. It was different from the one he had seen them drive the previous day. But he had no doubt Maril was in it. He saw her the moment the car passed by them.

Anthony didn't wait for his Boss to instruct him. He started the car and began following them a few seconds later, keeping them within his sight but careful enough not to alert them.

"Don, do you really want to do this?" Luca couldn't hold it in anymore.

"Do you have a problem?"

"No, Don. It's just that it's not your usual style." Luca scratched his head in confusion.

"Sometimes, we'll have to change our style depending on the opposite person," Rhysand replied mysteriously.

"I didn't understand a word you said, Don."

"You will when the time is right. It's just you will have to keep your eyes open and accept new things happening to you."
