Chapter 103
103. VS. Vasago Thieves!
“Fine, you’ve really underestimated me, but since you said that much, I’ll take you on. One-on-one!”
Vasago assumes a fighting stance and approaches. His expression is confident, probably imagining himself beating me to a pulp.
“Hey, come on! I’ll even give you a handicap if you want!”
I step forward slowly, fixing my gaze on Vasago’s sneering face—
—then land a punch on the side of his face.
“Blagh!?”
Vasago’s body floats in the air. He rolls on the ground and gets blown away about five meters with just one hit.
The other thieves, who had been jeering, froze, their faces going rigid.
“W-why… this is impossible…”
Vasago, sitting on the ground, starts to back away using his hands.
Blood drips from his mouth to his chin, and his face seems slightly swollen.
“Y-y-y-you! What did you do? There’s no way your scrawny body could send me flying! There must be a trick!!”
“If a trick could do that, you’re pretty fragile.”
“Eek! You guys, get him!!”
At Vasago’s command, the thieves begin to surround us.
Maybe they’re more cautious now that their leader’s down, glaring at me with sharp eyes.
“Didn’t you say one-on-one just now?”
“Shut up! Since you took down the boss, we won’t let you go! Prepare yourself!”
“Okay. Then I’ll use this…”
With that, I summon a slime.
The thieves exchange glances, seemingly bewildered by the sudden appearance of the slime.
“Hah! Don’t mock us! There’s no way we’ll lose to such a weak monster—”
“If you daydream, you’ll bite your tongue.”
In the next instant, a slime tackles one of the thieves’ jaws. In just a moment, the man is sent flying, disrupting their formation.
“W-what is this slime—gah!”
Another thief gets knocked out by the slime’s tackle. Within seconds, two men are down, causing the others to panic.
“We weren’t told about this! Getting beaten by a slime—agh!!”
The thieves desperately swing their knives. However, the slime moves swiftly, like a mosquito, taking them down with a single blow.
In less than a minute, all ten of the minions are on the ground, groaning.
“Well then, Vasago, it’s your turn—”
“Don’t move!!”
At that moment, I freeze. Vasago’s voice comes from the direction of the carriage, not where he was before.
“Don’t move! Take one step and this woman dies!”
I feel the blood drain from my face. Vasago is threatening Sierra-san with a knife, his arm around her shoulder, and the blade at her neck.
“You… how low can you go!”
“Shut up! I always win in the end! I don’t care about the means!”
Vasago tightens his grip. The blade’s tip is almost touching Sierra-san’s pale skin.
If I make any move, Sierra-san could be in danger.
I raise my arms, showing I have no intention to resist.
But I have a plan. I stationed the Slime Archer behind the carriage when I spotted the thieves. It can take a shot if needed.
Vasago doesn’t seem to notice the archer. So, I just need to distract him.
“Heh heh heh!! Pathetic! Get on your knees, you weakling! I’ll beat you until you can’t stand again!”
Vasago laughs loudly, pointing his knife at me. He wants me to kneel.
This is the moment. I’ll pretend to kneel and have the archer take the shot to rescue Sierra-san.
I slowly kneel, pretending to comply. Vasago watches me with expectant eyes.
Alright, now—
“Take this!”
Unexpectedly, the shout comes not from the carriage but right in front of me.
Vasago falls to the ground, lying on his back. The Slime Archer looks puzzled, peeking out from the carriage.
When I was about to signal, Sierra-san twisted her body, slipped under Vasago’s arm, shifted her weight, and threw him down.
“Wh-why, you—”
Vasago mutters some resentful words and then loses consciousness, lying on the ground.
“—Phew, how about that!”
As we stand in silence, the sound of Sierra-san clapping her hands echoes across the field.
She places her hands on her hips and exhales after handling the entire commotion.
