The Former Marine

It was a normal morning in February 2023, and Derek was organizing another day of training at his gym. As he adjusted some equipment, his phone vibrated. He took a quick look and was surprised to see that he had received a message from Kendall Jenner. In the last few days, she had become a regular student, and her dedication to training had created a bond of respect between them. But a message outside the context of the gym was unusual.

Kendall: "Hi, Derek! I hope you're doing well. My family is having a party this weekend and I wanted to invite you. I know you probably don't go to that kind of event, but I think it would be fun. :)"

Derek stared at the message for a few seconds. He had never been much of a party or social event person, especially after so many years on the battlefield. His life was organized and discreet, but something about Kendall's invitation made him hesitate. He had liked her as a student, and the idea of ​​seeing a different side of this famous family intrigued him.

Derek: "Thanks for the invite, Kendall. I'm not much of a party person, but I think it would be interesting to see what it's like. I'll accept."

Kendall responded almost instantly.

The day of the party arrived, and Derek, despite feeling a little out of his comfort zone, decided to go. He put on a simple dress shirt and a leather jacket, maintaining his understated but respectable style. When he arrived, he was greeted by a valet who took his car, and he walked up to the front door. The house was stunning, with modern architecture and luxurious details. Kendall spotted him from afar and, with a smile on her face, walked over to him. "You came! I can't believe it!"

Derek smiled back. "Well, you asked and here I am."

She laughed. "I'm glad you came. I'm going to introduce you to some people."

Kendall began introducing Derek to a few celebrities who were in attendance, but the moment that made the biggest impact was when they approached the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family. Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the clan, was chatting with her daughters Kim, Kourtney, and Kylie when Kendall and Derek approached.

"Hi, guys," Kendall said, catching the attention of her mother and sisters. "This is Derek, my self-defense coach."

Kris, ever attentive, smiled warmly and extended her hand. "Oh, so you're the famous Derek! Kendall has been talking about you a lot."

Derek shook Kris's hand and responded politely.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Jenner. Kendall is a dedicated student."

Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the sisters, stood next to Kris, and as Derek approached, her eyes never left him. She seemed interested, perhaps because of Derek's imposing presence and physical form, but also because of his calm and reserved demeanor. She approached and, with a curious smile, extended her hand.

"Hi, I'm Kylie."

Derek shook her hand, feeling the different energy in the gesture.

"Nice to meet you, Kylie."

Kim and Kourtney smiled politely, but it was clear that Kylie was particularly intrigued. She struck up a conversation, trying to find out more about Derek.

"So, you're a self-defense instructor? Sounds interesting. I imagine you have some fascinating stories about your missions, don't you?"

Derek, always discreet when it came to his military past, responded with a slight laugh.

"A few stories, maybe. But my focus now is on the academy and helping people prepare for real-life situations."

Kylie nodded, looking at Derek curiously.

"Well, I've always wanted to learn more about self-defense. Maybe I need some lessons."

Kendall, noticing the interaction, laughed and gave Kylie a little shove.

"He's the best, Ky. You should definitely book some lessons with him."

Kylie smiled, but there was something else in her eyes, something Derek began to notice. For the rest of the party, she kept exchanging glances with him, always finding an excuse to strike up a conversation whenever she saw him somewhere at the party.

The night wore on, and Derek, who had already talked to several people and gotten involved in several conversations, felt it was time to go. He said goodbye to Kendall and thanked her for the invitation.

"It was an interesting party, Kendall. Thanks for inviting me."

Kendall smiled, clearly pleased that he had come.

"Thank you for coming. It was great having you here. See you at the gym."

As Derek walked towards the exit, Kylie suddenly appeared at his side.

"Leaving already?" she asked, with a playful smile.

Derek laughed.

"Yeah, it's late. It was a good event, but I think I'm ready to get back to my routine."

Kylie looked at him with a thoughtful expression, clearly interested.

"You really seem like someone who values ​​routine, don't you? But sometimes, getting out of your comfort zone is good too. Maybe we can hang out sometime, outside of the gym?"

Derek, always polite, kept his tone casual.

"Who knows? But I think you'd have more fun at a party than a hard workout."

Kylie laughed, but there was something more to that laugh.

"Maybe I like both."

Derek smiled, but decided not to prolong the conversation.

"It was nice meeting you, Kylie. See you around."

She watched him leave the mansion, a glint of curiosity in her eyes. Clearly, Derek Rogan had made a strong impression, not only on Kendall, but on Kylie as well.

As Derek got into his car and began driving back to his house, he reflected on how much his life had changed since leaving active duty. He never expected that the success of his gym would lead him to be involved in events like this, alongside some of the most famous people in the world. Despite everything, he remained focused: teaching, training, and remaining the private man he had always been, even as circumstances and potential interests arose around him.
