Chapter 294: Chapter 293: I Woke Up Too Fast…
Pei Guang, upon hearing Kafka's request, looked around and quickly spotted the Cloud Knights fanning out in search formation. There were quite a few of them—nine squads of four, coming from two directions.
Seeing the Cloud Knights, Stelle and March 7th turned to Pei Guang, while he gave both sides a friendly wave.
Recognizing Pei Guang, the Cloud Knights hesitated. These were the same troops assigned to the Divination Commission, and they were fully aware of everything Pei Guang's group had done.
When he waved, the Cloud Knights moved in.
"It's you again, our benefactor! Just as Master Diviner Fu Xuan predicted, you've come to the Divination Commission. We, your brothers and sisters, welcome you all."
The most senior Cloud Knight among them approached Pei Guang and greeted him briefly before asking, "Benefactors, did you encounter any difficulties? Is there anything we can assist you with?"
Pei Guang nodded. "Yes, look over there."
Following Pei Guang's direction, the Cloud Knights turned to look at Kafka and Blade. The moment they saw Blade, some of the Cloud Knights tensed up and raised their weapons. However, the leader of the group gestured for them to lower their arms. Though still wary, the others cautiously followed his lead and put their weapons down.
The leader of the Cloud Knights spoke up, "Stellaron Hunter Kafka, and the wanted criminal—"
Pei Guang interrupted, "That's right! Two Stellaron Hunters, one of whom is currently a wanted criminal. I called you here to tell you something important—Kafka is helping Blade suppress his mara-struck state. I need you to assist me by keeping this situation quiet and ensuring no unauthorized personnel approach. Can you do that?"
A heavy silence fell over the group. Not just the Cloud Knights, but even March 7th and Stelle, who had been curious about how Pei Guang would handle the situation, were left speechless.
If this had been yesterday, the Cloud Knights might have acted before Pei Guang even finished speaking. But now, they exchanged hesitant glances. After all, Fu Xuan had issued orders to treat the Trailblazers with respect and to cooperate with their actions if they visited the Divination Commission.
Moreover, Pei Guang's group had earned the gratitude of many Cloud Knights. According to internal reports, Pei Guang and his companions had fought alongside the General and defeated the Lord Ravager, even mounting its severed head on the prow of the Xianzhou.
But as soldiers, their duty was to follow orders. They had explicit instructions to apprehend Stellaron Hunters Kafka and Blade. Since Blade's wanted status hadn't been revoked, they were still obligated to arrest him—even if Pei Guang was their benefactor.
"Benefactor, I'm sorry, but we—"
Before the Cloud Knight leader could finish, Pei Guang pulled out his phone and called Fu Xuan. She answered immediately. "Oh? Ah Guang? What's the matter?"
Despite her busy schedule, Fu Xuan took Pei Guang's call without hesitation.
Pei Guang got straight to the point. "I've encountered the Stellaron Hunter, Blade. I accepted a task from Kafka to protect her while she seals Blade's mara-struck state. Some Cloud Knights here want to arrest him. I need them to listen to me and stand down."
Pei Guang summarized the situation quickly and clearly. Fu Xuan paused for a moment before replying, "Blade's Stellaron Hunter status has already been revoked. His wanted status now is related to other matters. But you're saying he's mara-struck? If Kafka really can seal that state, let her proceed. I'll issue an order forbidding the Cloud Knights from interfering until the sealing is complete, after that, we can decide what to do. There's no point in capturing someone in that condition—there's no interrogation value anyway~"
Unfortunately, it wasn't a video call—otherwise, everyone would have seen Fu Xuan's current expression.
The Master Diviner of the Divination Commission claiming that a mara-struck person had no interrogation value? That had to be the biggest joke under the heavens.
But Fu Xuan's words visibly eased the tension among the Cloud Knights.
Fake? They certainly didn't think so. Fu Xuan's order arrived in their communicators almost immediately, confirming everything Pei Guang had said. The directive instructed them to stand down temporarily, allow Kafka to seal Blade's mara-struck state, and then report back for further instructions.
The lead Cloud Knight looked at Pei Guang. "Master Diviner Fu Xuan has spoken, Benefactor. We won't interfere with her treatment process. However, Benefactor, we also won't let the Stellaron Hunters off the hook. That is our duty."
Pei Guang nodded. "Naturally. My task is simply to ensure that she isn't interrupted by the Cloud Knights during the sealing process. As long as you don't interfere, my job is done. As for arresting him afterward? Go right ahead once my task is complete."
The lead Cloud Knight nodded. "That's good to hear. By the way, Benefactor, I heard that back at the Exalting Sanctum, you taught some of our brothers and sisters a special dance. They said it boosted their strength during combat. We've tried learning it ourselves, but it feels like our movements aren't quite right. Since you're here, could you give us some pointers?"
Pei Guang grinned. "Of course! It's actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. It's even more effective if you're holding a weapon while doing it."
The lead Cloud Knight added, "Exactly. According to the reports from the Sanctum, this dance can be performed mid-battle, boosting our strength while fighting those abominations."
Pei Guang chuckled. "That's because it's basically a buff aura skill. But since you're so eager to learn, I'll teach you the proper movements. You know, it took me a long time to master this dance myself! Oh, and since we can't interrupt her treatment, let's skip the music for now. How does that sound?"
The lead Cloud Knight quickly agreed. "No problem! We just want to make sure we've got the movements right. Though… I wonder if we'll really have a chance to use this on a chaotic battlefield."
Pei Guang's eyes lit up. "Oh? So eager to learn? Ahem! Besides this simple dance, I also know a few other routines—ones with clear rhythms, perfect for synchronizing with a buff aura while marching in formation. Interested?"
The lead Cloud Knight's excitement grew. "We'd be honored to learn! If you have the music files, you can send them to us. Our helmets may look basic, but they have advanced features. We can play audio without it leaking outside, so it won't disturb the Stellaron Hunter's sealing process."
Pei Guang pulled out his device. "Excellent. Since you're so enthusiastic, I'll teach you everything I know today! I'll make sure you master the techniques, keep to the rhythm, and become the best battlefield dancers—perfect buff machines!
Let's start with the dance I taught you before, then we'll move on to 'New Treasure Island' and more. Trust me, you'll have routines for every scenario—combat, morale-boosting, and even maintaining formation under pressure!"
Meanwhile, on the other side, Kafka had just completed the first stage of sealing Blade's memories. The weapon disguise Pei Guang provided had indeed made her task much easier. She first planted a suggestion in Blade's mind, assuring him that she had a way to counter Dan Heng's strange abilities, and then sealed most of Blade's memories related to the Xianzhou.
With this groundwork laid, the rest of the sealing process proceeded smoothly. Focused entirely on her task, she was unaware of what was happening outside. The lack of interruptions confirmed that things were unfolding as predicted.
But as Kafka finished the first phase and her consciousness returned, she became aware of footsteps—many footsteps. Though faint, she could also hear light clapping and… excited breathing?
Turning her head instinctively, she froze.
What she saw left her speechless—a group of Cloud Knights arranged in a triangular formation, dancing.
Some were positioned behind Pei Guang, others at the left and right entrances, effectively surrounding the area. Yet despite forming a perimeter, they neither attempted to capture her and Blade nor made any loud noises. Instead, clad in full armor, they happily followed Pei Guang's lead, dancing.
Pei Guang had just transitioned from the Axe gang's dance to "New Treasure Island." The moves were simple but brimming with passion.
From Kafka's perspective, Pei Guang swayed his body and waved his arms in the air, and the Cloud Knights followed suit with synchronized precision, aided by their high-tech equipment.
Kafka's expression hardened. She rubbed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Wait… am I inside Blade's memories right now? Why am I dreaming about something like this?"
At that moment, Pei Guang noticed Kafka had finished her task. He immediately stopped dancing. The Cloud Knights halted in unison and shifted their focus back to Kafka and Blade.
Kafka's face was completely expressionless. "I should've known—it's you. Using a method absolutely impossible to foresee to keep the Cloud Knights at bay…"
At this point, Kafka didn't even know what to say. She could only think—this was just so typical of Pei Guang.
When she first saw Elio's prophecy about Pei Guang, it didn't seem too unusual. After learning about some of Pei Guang's exploits and hearing about what happened to Silver Wolf, she still wasn't too surprised.
The first time she met Pei Guang in person, she thought he was relatively normal—though that was probably because Fu Xuan had absorbed most of the weirdness on her behalf.
The second time, Blade had shielded her from most of the chaos, quickly surrendering and sparing her from too much drama.
But this time—now that she was the one issuing the mission—she finally understood what everyone else had gone through!
