Chapter 6: Chapter 6: You're the Elite of the Antimatter Legion?
In the sky, a centaur-like elite of the Antimatter Legion known as the Trampler blocked Pei Guang and March 7th's path.
"So strong…"
With just one exchange, March 7th felt the overwhelming power of this enemy. However, she noticed that Pei Guang, who had been under her protection, seemed even stronger.
Facing this enemy, he didn't hesitate at all. He noticed that there was only one enemy in front of him.
Pei Guang remembered what his online friend had told him: that in games, players often combine elements from different genres. So, considering the worst-case scenario, he figured it was best to approach this like a soul-like game.
One of the core principles of soul-like games is to never engage in 1vs2 battles if you can engage in a 1vs1. In a 1vs1, even a god might be fooled, but in a 1vs2, you could be easily crushed.
Pei Guang carefully observed the Trampler's initial moves. As it raised its hand, he moved simultaneously.
Using his experience, Pei Guang aimed for the enemy's weak spot. Facing an opponent that was larger than him, his strategy was to dodge and attack from behind. As the creature made its move, Pei Guang rolled beneath it, emerged behind it, and stabbed it in the rear with his wooden sword.
When the enemy turned, he turned too. When the enemy attacked, he blocked. The Trampler felt its rear being attacked and instinctively kicked back, but Pei Guang, as if predicting this, blocked the attack with his wooden sword and then counterattacked.
During the execution, Pei Guang couldn't help but complain, "I've played so many games, and no matter how big the enemy is, the execution is always from the front. This is the first time I've seen one from the rear. Are you really an elite of the Antimatter Legion? Take this!"
While Pei Guang fought, March 7th wasn't idle either. She continued to buff Pei Guang and harassed the enemy with her bow and arrows. She also used her arrows to pin down any nearby ordinary units that tried to approach.
"Execution!"
Pei Guang lost count of how many times he had executed the enemy. Eventually, the Trampler let out a final wail and disappeared completely.
"Damn! Are all these monsters this stingy? An elite shows up, and it doesn't drop any loot? Just vanishes into thin air? No way, I have to report this after logging out!"
As Pei Guang grumbled in dissatisfaction, March 7th pointed toward the sky. "Uh… look at the sky?"
Pei Guang instinctively looked up and saw a vast number of Antimatter Legion members in the sky, so many that even Dan Heng and March 7th together wouldn't stand a chance.
Seeing this overwhelming number of enemies, Pei Guang fell into deep thought. "Is this a scripted death? Or maybe… but if it's part of the story, something doesn't feel right. Why do I feel a chill, as if I'm about to be cut down?"
For the first time, Pei Guang felt something was off. He didn't dwell on it too much though, whether it was a scripted event, part of the story, or reality. Pei Guang wasn't one to sit and wait for his fate.
He rolled over to March 7th's side and grabbed her.
"What are you doing?"
Ignoring March 7th's struggles and complaints, Pei Guang held her tight and rolled again. As they rolled, the sound of tearing air and explosions echoed around them.
"He's making space for me."
"Himeko?!"
March 7th, lying on the ground, looked ahead, and Pei Guang stood up. "Wow, I thought it was a scripted death, but it turned out to be part of the story. My body just reacted on instinct—sorry, sorry!"
Himeko walked over with a smile. "You did well. If you hadn't moved March 7th away from there, I wouldn't have dared to attack recklessly. You both would've gotten hurt."
Pei Guang nodded thoughtfully, while March 7th, suddenly realizing something, grabbed Pei Guang's wrist forcefully. "You better not mess with Himeko! Or else you're dead."
"Okay, okay~"
Pei Guang wasn't some kind of pervert. He only acted a bit oddly when he first entered the game because he wanted to test how realistic it was. The game turned out to be so realistic that now he was hesitant to make a move.
Himeko smiled at Pei Guang. "I've received the message. You saved over twenty people. Well done. Reinforcements are on the way. All we need to do now is hold the passage here."
As Himeko finished speaking, a number of guards stepped out of the elevator. They would secure the exits and ensure the safe evacuation of over twenty non-combat personnel.
During this process, Himeko curiously watched March 7th, who was staring intently at Pei Guang.
"What's he doing?"
Pei Guang was squatting and jumping in place, occasionally spinning 360 degrees.
Such strange behavior naturally piqued Himeko's curiosity, and March 7th explained with a sigh, "I found him along the way. I thought he might be from the Herta Space Station, but it doesn't seem like it. He's strong. Even against the Antimatter Legion, he handled them easily."
Himeko: "Like you?"
March 7th confirmed, "Definitely~ He's probably lost his memory or something like that, just like me. Otherwise, he wouldn't act this way. His behavior is odd, but he's a good person."
There was an inexplicable emotion in March 7th's tone as she explained.
"Oh? Has our March 7th fallen for him?"
Faced with Himeko's teasing, March 7th waved her off. "Shoo, shoo! No way, absolutely not!"
While they chatted, the evacuation was completed.
The group followed the main forces to the command cabin, but as soon as they arrived, Pei Guang bolted out of sight.
"What's he doing?"
March 7th: "You go explain to the station master. I'll keep an eye on him. Who knows what he'll do next."
If it were anyone else causing such a fuss, March 7th might not have bothered. But for some reason, after speculating about Pei Guang's possible background, she couldn't help but worry.
"Maybe it's just a sense of shared destiny? Meeting here must be fate…"
So, what was Pei Guang up to? Of course, he was running around looking for quests.
"Can I help you with something?"
"Daddy! My daddy didn't make it here."
Pei Guang first approached a little boy who had been separated from his father. Fear and despair filled the boy's heart, making him cry.
However, Pei Guang showed no sympathy. Instead, he grinned. "You want me to find your daddy? What's the reward?"
"Reward???"
Pei Guang: "You don't give a reward when asking for help?"
With no sympathy, Pei Guang turned to leave, but the boy quickly offered a card. "This is my card. Can this be the reward?"
Hearing this, Pei Guang immediately turned back, closely inspecting the card. "I'll take the quest. Tell me where your daddy is and what he looks like."
"My daddy's name is… he's a great scientist."
After some description, Pei Guang realized that the boy's father was the first person he had saved. He swiftly took the card. "Your quest is complete. I've already brought your daddy back. He's over there."
This sort of interaction wasn't limited to just the boy. Whenever Pei Guang saw someone looking down or crying, he'd approach and ask if they had any quests.
Lost toys, missing family members—anything that came with a reward, Pei Guang accepted. Luckily, he had picked up many things while rescuing people earlier; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to complete many of the tasks.
As March 7th watched, she became increasingly astonished. The Black Tower space station had just been attacked, leaving many people highly emotional. At such a time, some were crying, while others sought something to hold onto.
Gifts from loved ones, years of hard work, favorite snacks—things that were impossible to think about grabbing during the danger, but after the danger had passed and despair and fear took over, these small items could bring immense comfort. Even a pen they regularly used, a notebook filled with records, or a random doodle could help these terrified people find relief.
As she watched, Dan Heng approached. "Yes, his actions are strange, but I understand what he's doing. By charging a fee, he acknowledges the give-and-take, which prevents people from overthanking him while also helping them calm down. The pain remains, but a calmed mind can better face reality."
March 7th asked curiously, "So, he's a good person?"
Dan Heng, watching Pei Guang happily pocket someone else's lollipop, replied, "Don't you already know the answer? Judge actions, not intentions. His actions have saved many people and helped others alleviate their anxiety and fear. Isn't that enough?"
She nodded. "True, but… sigh…"
The thought of dealing with such an odd person made her head hurt. Dan Heng offered a suggestion: "Don't overthink it. Ignore his outlandish ideas. Know what he wants to do and let him know what you want to do, and you'll get along fine."
She smiled brightly. "I hope so~ but having someone like him around could be fun. However, I'll never forgive him for his rude behavior, never ever! Bleh~"
March 7th secretly made a funny face at Pei Guang while saying she wouldn't forgive him, but she actually remembered everything he had done.
Perhaps because she had forgotten her past, she didn't want to lose or forget anything again. Although Pei Guang appeared eccentric and crazy, the things he did were all helpful to everyone. Given that, she decided to help out as much as she could until he returned to normal.
And having such an interesting guy around would make future travels more enjoyable too.
As March 7th and Dan Heng observed Pei Guang, he found himself in a big crisis. Since arriving in this world, he had always treated it as a game. But after playing for so long, he was a bit tired. When he tried to log out, he realized there didn't seem to be a logout option?
