The Genius of Cloning in the Academy City

Chapter 12

First, I need to distract that woman.

I opened my mouth, trying to maintain the purest expression possible.

“Ugh… What’s that…?”

“Huh? You don’t need to worry about that. Anyway, Violet will be living with her sister from now on~”

The woman with the ponytail showed me a yellow envelope bundle.

“Do you see this? It’s Violet’s academy admission certificate and the necessary documents. Now, just take this and go with your sister, and you’ll be a student at the school.”

Hmm, so that’s how it is. Suddenly, a question popped into my mind.

“Wow! But sister, I don’t have any money. It must cost a lot to enroll in the academy; what about the tuition?”

“It’s okay~ The research lab agreed to pay for it. At least the first semester tuition is taken care of…”

The ponytail girl, who had been smiling and talking, suddenly paused and looked at me.

“Violet, did you always speak this well? Where’s your necklace…”

“Well, let’s go find out next to your mom!”

“What…? What…!”

The second clone I had created earlier tightly grabbed the ponytail’s waist.

She looked between the clone, my face, and then my neck, and her face turned pale. Yikes, it’s too late.

“Die!”

-Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

I grabbed the alloy hammer I had sent into the blanket and smashed it into her face.

“Ahhhhh!!”

I vented my anger and struck her three or four times in succession.

“The grudge for teasing me!”
“Ughh!”

I hit her once more on the head.

“The grudge for stealing my French fries!”

“Ahhh! My hand! Ahhh!”

As she tried to block with her arm, I smacked her hand.

“You know, for making me call you ‘sister’ despite your age!”

I slapped her mouth once too.

“Ughhh…”

Finally, I hit the back of her head one more time. The ponytail girl collapsed, covered in blood.

Alright. I don’t know if this is really the admission document, but I should grab it for now.

I put the documents into the bag my clone was holding and stepped out through the half-open door.

Plans were all in shambles. Whatever.

When did I ever live by strictly following plans? From now on, I’ll just do what I want.

At that moment, someone must have triggered the alarm, as a loud siren echoed down the hallway.

The operation on the second floor was a success. I felt relieved and recalled the third clone. Multitasking is really tough.

I could hear the startled researchers rushing over.

“Oh my god..! Team Leader Eva!.. You! Stop the riot!”

One of the researchers pointed a switch at me.

Oh no, but I don’t have my necklace!

I pulled out my pistol and fired at the bewildered researcher.

“Goodbye!”

-Bang!

“Ah!”

The guy hit by my friendly greeting fell over.

“Run! The test subject has a gun!”

“Guard! Where are the guards!!”

The researchers started yelling and fled. I shot the leg of a nearby one among the fleeing ones.

“Ahhh! Save me!”

To save bullets, I swung the alloy hammer at the back of the crawling researcher as they bled. It’s a bit quiet now.

After donning the lab coat along with my clone, I hurriedly ran while shooting bullets at the backs of the researchers.

“Ahhh! Save me! Noooo!”

“Don’t come! Please don’t come!”

This is quite fun now that I’ve tried it. It feels less repulsive than hitting them directly.

I chased the researchers down the hallway while diligently swiping the key card for the test subject rooms.

-Beep!

-Beep!

The people in patient clothes who were awakened by the commotion looked bewildered and stumbled out of the open door.

Now was the chance to highlight my beautiful appearance and lovely voice.

I thought of the saddest thing I could and wailed sorrowfully.

“Ahhhhh! The researchers are trying to kill us all! They said they’re going to dispose of us! We need to run!”

The people who heard my scream began to panic.

How could they not focus when a bloody girl suddenly shrieked like that?

“What the heck, is that for real..?”
“Sure enough! Those guys were planning to kill us from the start!”
“But even if we escape, there’s no way to get out…!”

The people were in disarray. I took out the electric switch, pointed it at their necks, and pushed the release button.

“Ah! This annoying necklace…!”
“Kid! Thanks!”
“Oh my god! It’s off!”

I grabbed one of the electric collars that people had discarded. Who knows, it might come in handy.

Just then, three guards rushed in. They seemed not to have realized the situation yet and just dashed in with their batons. Since they were wearing bulletproof vests, my gun won’t do much.

“Emergency! Emergency! Riot situation has occurred! Large numbers of test subjects are attempting to escape!”

“Damn it! They’ve removed their collars!”

The people shrank back in fear at the sight of the guards.

Oh dear, do I have to set an example now?

I had a plan I had thought up for times like this.
‘I’ll call it the Violet Stream Attack!’

I placed the second clone in front of me, having it hold a screwdriver. Then I injected a recovery potion into the second clone’s body.

[* The pain relief effect of the recovery potion activates. Pain is reduced by 30%.]

I stood tightly behind the clone. Thanks to my small frame and the lab coat, from the front, it looked like only one girl was visible.

A mission only a cute little girl like me could pull off!

“Everyone, charge!”

I disregarded the other people and ran like a ninja, arms outstretched.

“What are you?! Halt! Stop!”

As I came face to face with the guard in front, the second clone swung the hammer it was holding. The guard skillfully deflected the hammer with trained reflexes and kicked the second clone away.

“Ughh!”

Even with the pain relief, it still hurt. But it was bearable.

The second clone fell over. I stepped on the clone’s shoulder and jumped up.

“Violet Stream Attack!”

“No?! There was one more behind…!”

The guard froze at the sudden appearance of me.

I jumped up, putting my weight behind the screwdriver and thrust it directly into the guard’s collarbone.

“Ugh!”

I slammed down on the guard, finishing him off as I aimed my gun at his face.

“Eat this!”
-Bang! Bang!

I took one down. Just then, a stabbing pain came from my side.

“It’s a gun! The test subject has a gun!”

The guard who followed charged at me. He tried to trample me. The second clone, who had fallen to the ground, tripped his leg, causing him to fall.

As I emptied the magazine of my pistol at the guard running from the back, he hid behind a wall. Seizing the moment, I lunged onto the body of the guard who had kicked me.

“You too will die!”

I repeatedly plunged the screwdriver into the neck of the second guard.

“Please just die! Die!”

“Ahhh! Ahhhh! Ahhhh!”

Blood splattered onto my face.

Just as I was about to rise again, the last guard pulled out his gun and pointed it at me. Just as I was about to move the second clone to block my body…

-Slurrrp!

“Ugh!”

The test subject guys behind me jumped in and clobbered him. The last guard collapsed from multiple blows and lost consciousness.

“They sure are helpful… damn…”

As I glared at the people behind me, they averted their gazes awkwardly. I breathed heavily.

“If you want to live, follow me!”

People started to follow me in confusion. Moments later, we arrived at the room where Kalia was trapped.

-Clunk!

As the door opened, Kalia bewilderedly walked out.

“Wait, Violet. What’s all this…?”

From her perspective, it must have been incredibly baffling.

Suddenly, I fully retrieved my clone and came back with a bunch of people after the commotion. My face and clothes were smeared with blood.

I nonchalantly opened my mouth.

“These people also want to go out! Let’s hurry down!”

“W-what? I don’t know what’s going on, but let’s get out fast.”

Kalia and I led the people across the corridor towards the elevator.

Suddenly, I remembered something Kalia had said.

‘…I think it’s wrong for innocent people to get caught up in what we did.’

Sorry, Kalia. For now, we don’t have the luxury to choose our means and methods to escape. These people also willingly stepped forward, so it’s not a problem.

As we rushed to the elevator, someone was waiting anxiously at the front of the door.

“Why isn’t the elevator coming?! No… who are you?! Aah!”

Oh, it was the pig researcher who gave me French fries.

“Sir!”

“Wait! You…?!”

I charged at him with my gun.

“Sir! Will you be my secret friend?!”

-Bang!

I shot a bullet into the pig’s arm.

“Ahhh!”

Waving my gun, I threatened him.

“Sir! Are we going to be friends or not?”
“I’ll do it! I’ll do it, please don’t shoot me!”

The pig researcher clutched his bleeding arm and pleaded. I turned to Kalia.

“I’m going to take him hostage; is that okay?”
“This pig? With that size, he’ll make a perfect shield. Serves those Laplacian jerks right for getting this kind of treatment.”

Kalia shrugged her shoulders. She swiped the key card at the security device located at the elevator platform.

The elevator doors swung open wide.

“Now, let’s go down! To the second floor!”
“Wait, is it really okay to go down like this? If the alarms are blaring like this, surely armed forces will be waiting to capture us below.”

“It’s fine! The downstairs is in chaos. You’ll see.”

We got into the elevator.

After a moment, the doors opened.

-Tatatata-tang!
-Kyaaa!
-Graaar!

“Suppress them! Hurry!”
“There’s a riot on the third floor!”
“Ahhh! Save me!”

We could see the second floor of the research lab in chaos because of the unleashed monsters.

“Let’s go!”

With Kalia and I leading the way, people rushed out of the elevator.
