The God of calamity’s wife: return of the 13th

Chapter 34: 34 I’m not meant to survive this Sirius.

Sirius went and got into bed, a little quieter now like something was on his mind.

"What is it?" Saoirse asked.

He rubbed his neck where she had bit him and it had started to form a bruise.

She put her hands to her mouth and covered it confused. "I can't turn you into a werewolf, what's wrong with your neck?"

He sighed. "It's a blight." He said. "Maeve didn't like it that you did that."

"That I bit you?"

"I was having a hard time deciding to go to her," Sirius sighed, "because.... because I guess you can tell, but I really like you a lot and I don't mean to have two wives.

"Even if I'm a demigod, I don't want two wives. So I'm going to have to pick one of you. And the other one I have to unbond with."

Saoirse looked at him concerned.

"Don't worry, for sure I would pick you Saoirse." He said and then he sighed.

"It's just that I wasn't sure how she would feel, but now I know. She would be hurt."

He rubbed his neck a bit more and sat on Maeve's bed. Then he laid down and looked so alone by himself there, Saoirse couldn't believe that he had been sleeping all alone this whole time. Even if she didn't want the company, Aksel insisted all of the time on sleeping with her hoping he would be lucky but Sirius' other wife and him had slept apart.

"It will be ok." She said. "We will tell her together, you're not alone. And if she wants to hate someone, she can hate me."

"Why would she hate you? I'd be the one divorcing her."

"She'd hate me because just like how you won't let Aksel mess with me, I won't give up my husband to another girl so easy either and so if she hurts you, Saoirse said pointing to the blight, then I will help you feel better and for that she would hate me."

Sirius wondered how this girl had become so confident. "You are not at all what me and her expected for me to find." He said.

"What do you mean?"

"She thought you were dangerous, and would possibly harm me, but you're not. You are incredibly kind and forgiving and wise. I'm sure she wouldn't hate you."

"Yes she will. I'm stealing her husband. And I don't care what she thinks."

Then she sat on top of him and kissed him on the lips. He felt himself get a bit aroused and worried about his blight on his neck, but he didn't mind in the end. He felt her belly between them and for some reason he didn't mind her close. he kissed her lips back passionately. He nibbled at her neck with his fangs, pricking her skin a bit but didn't sink them in, he just felt her close to him for a bit longer and then he pulled away a bit because his neck was burning too much now and he couldn't ignore the pain anymore.

Saoirse was ok with this. "Sorry." She said.

"No it's ok." He said.

"Can we lay down next to each other? Its something I could never have done with Maeve." He asked her. She smiled and nodded and he moved the beds together and just held her from behind. It was nice, he liked her curves. He smiled and drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, they prepared their things to make the trip to Loki's house. They got into Sirius' car and headed back to the pack to inform them they would be absent for a bit.

Sirius made a phone call to Maeve and told her he was sorry that he hadn't checked in with her yet but he planned to speak in person.

He didn't feel comfortable telling her everything over the phone and especially about her plants since she was a forest spirit and surely she would be devastated. How could he explain to her that Saoirse was clearly his fated mate and he hadn't even known he would have one, being a vampire, but his beast and her beast had flown together and it was clear. That and she was pregnant with his young he was sure of it. He was sure she would have never been with Aksel, she could never have loved him, he was so unbearable. Even his smell was off putting to her and she would vomit from her hormones.

Sirius hung up being only able to think of Saoirse in that moment and her pregnancy and of their young.

There were a few things that he wanted to do with her before beginning their travels and so he woke up early and got to work.

He pulled out Maeve's sewing machine and made a quick pillow for her to relax better. He had noticed how she propped herself up with anything she could find to relieve the pain of her belly while sleeping and so he took a picture of how she ended up and sewed a curved pillow the shape and size of the pillows that she preferred. It was a bit of an awkward shape where she could support her back and legs more comfortably.

She woke up as he stuffed it with wool.

"What are you doing?" She asked him, seeing he had cut up a quilt to make an odd pillow.

She rubbed her belly a bit and groggily got some precooked deer meat from the freezer and began warming it up on the stove.

The stove used microwaves to warm things and it was ready in a few minutes, and then she switched the setting to broil and it turned on a flame to crisp the sides. She was practically salivating with hunger and had to take a minute to vomit from the anticipation.

"Are you alright?" Sirius asked her.

"I'm fine." She said abruptly as if she wasn't allowed to feel unwell.

"I made this for you." He said holding up the pillow when she began eating.

She became a wolf and snapped up the meat in her jaws in one bite.

It made Sirius not want to be on her bad side.

"How far along are you? If you don't mind me asking. I just want to be able to anticipate your delivery." He said.

She became a human again and heated herself two more steaks, which she was able to eat more slowly this time.

She took a bite and spoke with her mouth a bit full. "fuh-term buh I don' gif birf, I'm actshully 'bout twelf monf now." She said, and then took a drink of water. Cleared her throat and repeated herself "I'm full term already."

Sirius nearly shot his own drink from his nose.

"Actually I've been full term for 12 months now but I don't change or grow larger, I just stay the same." She said.

"That sounds horrible!" Sirius exclaimed.

She shrugged her shoulders. "Aksel said he would help me but he said he doesn't feel ready."

"Why does he have to feel ready? I'll make him feel ready!" Sirius said angrily standing up to go to the car.

"It's because…." She hesitated to deliver the bad news, then she paused and gave Sirius a serious look. "…..to give birth, the egg has to burn….so…. I'm not meant to survive this. Your species of beast Sirius, it's a fire beast. And I'm not fireproof like you."
