The Goddess Needs A Break!

Chapter 42 – Moonlit Dance

After finishing their scrumptious meal, they were both filled up with satisfaction. It was a truly delicious dinner that befit the expensive high class French restaurant.

"I'm stuffed~" The goddess said, as her face slackened due to the wondrous flavor of the food.

Takei thought it was inelegant of the goddess to make such a face, but it was cute nonetheless so he let it slide.

As they were relishing the lingering taste of the spectacular dishes in their mouth, the dancing competition seemed to have started with some couples already on the dance floor.

There was no need to sign up or anything, all you had to do was enter the dance floor with a partner and show off your moves.

After learning that fact, Takei was oddly overly happy about not having to wait in a long line to register. He was a person who was incredibly impatient when it came to lines, so it was just perfect luck for him.

Being able to somewhat read his thoughts, Akari facepalmed at such a weird thing to be happy about.

Although, under that facepalm lay a gentle smile that seemed to enjoy Takei's antics.

While they were both messing around, the first group of contestants went to the middle of the dance hall.

It was an old couple that looked like they had been living a fruitful life. Instead of the usual tired and drained looking expressions that old people would have, they looked like lively people who were very much in love with each other.

They were both grasping each other's hands and moving slowly to the classical music that was playing. In respect to the two, there was nothing but the sounds of shoes clacking and music playing. The applause was being held off until the very end.

Their dance continued to go on for a few more minutes before it finally concluded. As expected, there was a standing ovation at the end.

"They were pretty good, huh?" Akari anxiously muttered.

Takei nodded, but turned to Akari with a determined expression. "We can do better though, I know it."

Surprised by his domineering behavior, Akari giggled and grabbed Takei's hand firmly. "I know we can do it if we're together!"

They gazed deeply into each other's eyes refusing to break contact. Little did they know, another sugary atmosphere was surrounding them. However this time, the grown ups around them were more mature and refined than the random civilians, which resulted in the adults smiling warmly at the two of them.

The night passed on with many more performances from different couples. Finally, it was reaching the end of the competition since the restaurant would be closing soon.

Takei and Akari strategically decided to go last in the competition in order to make a bigger impact on the crowd.

"Are there any competitors left?" The announcer asked the crowd.

Takei looked towards Akari and nodded. He grabbed her hand and escorted her to center stage.

Then, he turned around to face her with as much determination as he could muster.

Takei then took a knee and offered his hand to Akari. "May I have the pleasure of dancing with you?"

Akari giggled and took his hand. "You may."

Takei stood up straight and grasped both of her hands tightly.

Now standing on equal level, they peered into each other's eyes and confirmed their mutual understanding.

Neither of them were experienced dancers, but they decided to trust in each other and dance accordingly to the other person's flow.

With a deep feeling of trust resonating inside of them, the duo began their dance to the slow music that began to play.

They started rotating around the center of the dance floor slowly, with Takei matching Akari's smaller strides by compensating with slower movement and shorter strides in order to match her pace.

As expected, their routines were based off of each other. Takei would put his foot out when Akari put her foot in, and vice versa. That inevitably led to a repetitious cycle happening.

Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot, the cycle just kept on going. They were like machines that kept doing the same motion. However, the motion was easily observed as being very dependent on the other person which in turn showed their deep trust in each other.

That deep trust was also reflected in their expressions and gestures.

Takei's right hand was on Akari's back while his left hand was outstretched and grasping Akari's right hand. Normally, the goddess would've felt uncomfortable holding hands with another male, but it was a different case with Takei.

Akari was beaming radiantly at him all the while, giving her best to make sure that the dance was a success.

Takei was also having a great time dancing. He was diligently focused on making the right dance moves, but he was also busy gazing into Akari's sea blue eyes. It was safe to say that he had been entranced by them.

As the dance went on, the surrounding environment began to fade around them. Now, there were only two people left to face each other.

Takei and Akari both were only looking at each other. There was nothing on their minds besides the person in front of them. That was the only thing that mattered.

Neither one of them wanted to break eye contact, because they were simply both too attracted to each other.

However, there would be an end to everything. The dance was finally nearing its finale.

As one last surprise to the crowd, Takei decided to spin and twirl Akari around and end it on the classic pose that everyone knew by heart.

With that as a closer, the crowd erupted in applause that was significantly louder than any other previous applause had been.

"The young couple has won! Congratulations!"

The announcer announced the winner of the competition and brought the rings over to them. Deciding to ignore that incorrect remark by the announcer, Takei smiled and gave Akari a thumbs up.

"Takei, we did it!" Akari yelled, with glee.

Takei ruffled her hair just a teensy bit in response, ensuring that it wouldn't get messed up. "We sure did."

Once they were given the rings, Takei decided to take the initiative and put it on Akari's ring finger himself. After that happened, he put it on his own ring finger and was slightly happy that they matched.

"It's almost like we're getting married," Takei remarked.

Akari looked away and muttered to herself. "I wouldn't really mind that..."

It seemed that another day of joyful bliss between these two had finally concluded.

Akari's True Affection Meter: 50 -> 58%

A large 8% increase was due to the beautiful dance they shared and the rings that were won as a result. Step by step, Akari is slowly reaching the position as the perfect heroine.
