The Great Adventure

Chapter 12: The Leap of Faith

“Well, I suppose we should get back on track,” said Plagiarize, who was starting to sweat because it was so hot outside.

“Well we have no ship left,” said Bird. “We need to either repair it or get a new one. I don’t know how to repair a ship, and I don’t suspect there’s any ships sitting around on this planet.”

“You never know!” said Mushpuff. “Let’s explore!!!!” he started walking away, towards a massive tower in the distance with lava pouring down its sides.

“I don’t know if that’s such a good…” Bird stopped talking because Plagiarize was following Mushpuff and obviously nobody was listening. And so he followed them into the distance.

Along the way, the gang had to step around many puddles of lava and random fires on the ground. Eventually they made it to the tower, which had a dark metal door on its side. Mushpuff opened the door and looked inside the tower. In the center of the room the door opened up into, there was a pedestal, and on it was a glowing yellow cube. All the way up to the ceiling was a massive mechanism of some sort with wires and cogs and all sorts of stuff moving around in wacky ways. There was a large label on this machine that read “POWER EXTRACTION MACHINE - DO NOT TURN OFF.” The machine was connected to the yellow cube, so one could assume that the machine was extracting power from it. That assumption would be correct.

“Wowzers, this is not what I was expecting,” said Mushpuff, looking up at the contraption. “But why is this here?? And where is all that power going?”

“Maybe that trapdoor knows,” said Plagiarize, pointing to a trapdoor in front of the pedestal with the cube on it. “But why is it labeled as…”

“Cheese factory?” Mushpuff said, finishing Plagiarize’s sentence. He started walking towards it. “Let’s find out!”

“I’ve got a bad feeling about all this, yo,” said Bird, following Snorter who was following Plagiarize who was following Mushpuff. “But I guess there’s nothing else we can do.”

“Yeah, relax, dude!” Mushpuff opened the trapdoor and jumped down. That was a very bad decision on his part, because if he used his eyes, he would’ve seen that there was a ladder. Oh well, Mushpuff just lives an adventurous life.

“ARE YOU OKAY DOWN THERE?” yelled Plagiarize down the pit.

“YEAH, I’M JUST FALLING!” Mushpuff shouted back. Plagiarize heard the word “yeah” and before he listened to the rest of the sentence, he had jumped in too. Snorter jumped in directly after him. Bird followed shortly, and as he fell, he accidentally nudged the yellow cube, causing it to fall off the pedestal.

The sight they saw as they fell was quite interesting. They were falling through a MASSIVE open area with tons and tons of conveyor belts producing cheese. The area they were in stretched so far in all directions that they couldn’t even see the walls. Just conveyor belts and contraptions to produce cheese. After a full minute of falling, Mushpuff finally hit the bottom and screamed because of what he saw.
