Chapter 213
The Demon World is finished.
500 years ago, just before the Great Demon Lord was about to dominate the Intermediate Realm.
For reasons unknown, the Demon God interfered with the Great Demon Lord.
“No, what do you mean?! Why are you trying to hinder Bel Phegor?”
Satan could hardly understand.
It was unimaginable that the Demon God, that is, the god of the Demon World, would obstruct the Demon King who was attempting to conquer the Intermediate Realm.
“This doesn’t make sense! Why on earth did you choose this path? Please answer me, O Demon God!”
No matter how much he thought about it, he just couldn’t grasp it.
Yet, the Demon God remained silent, simply achieving their own objective.
Even knowing that interfering with the Intermediate Realm could pose a great danger to themselves, and that such actions might lead to the demise of the Demon World, the Demon God obstructed Demon King Bel Phegor.
If the Demon God had not acted, perhaps the Holy Wind Sword would not have appeared.
If the Demon God had not acted, the Intermediate Realm truly would have fallen into the hands of Demon King Bel Phegor.
Yet, the Demon God kept the Demon King in check.
They risked their own life, striving to eliminate the Demon King by any means necessary.
And they succeeded.
And then self-destructed.
The Demon God perished, and the Demon World, which relied on their power, began its countdown to destruction.
Satan didn’t know who to blame.
Conquering the Intermediate Realm was the unfulfilled wish of the Demon Race.
It was unbelievable that the Demon God, of all beings, crushed such a desire.
Wasn’t the Demon God supposed to be a deity for the Demon Race?
Were they, in fact, a god for the inhabitants of the Intermediate Realm?
Did the Demon God merely pity the demons, while those they truly cared for were perhaps the beings of the Intermediate Realm?
Such thoughts tormented Satan’s mind, and to escape, he tortured his body.
By training himself to the limit,
and throwing himself into a state of nothingness, he could forget that one thought.
The Demon God abandoned the Demon Race.
They became the forsaken race by their god.
The Demon World was forsaken by the god, leading the world to eventual destruction.
With no way left to remedy the situation, the Demon World would surely collapse.
As Demon King, Satan made every possible effort.
Secretly, he summoned the sages of the Demon World, gathering the tight-lipped ones to find a way to prevent the collapse of the Demon World.
But it was futile.
Including himself, the result from the sages’ brainstorming session concluded that “The Demon World is doomed to collapse along with the entire realm.”
In other words, destruction.
The Demon World had less than a thousand years left before its demise, and the demons had to find a way to survive.
“Let’s conquer the Intermediate Realm.”
“Somehow, we must cross over and make the Intermediate Realm our land.”
“If the gods abandoned us, we’ll just become the new gods of the Intermediate Realm!”
Ultimately, the only path left was to somehow cross into the Intermediate Realm.
There was no clear method, but all they could do was pray for a summoning from there,
even though the god who could listen to their prayers was gone!
Still, Satan prayed and prayed again.
He couldn’t abandon the countless demons who believed in him and lived within the Demon World.
“Let’s ask the one called the Great Demon Lord for help!”
“That won’t do.”
“Why not?! Even though he tripped at the last hurdle, wasn’t he the one who nearly conquered the Intermediate Realm?!”
Many wished to recruit the infamous, failed Great Demon Lord Bel Phegor.
But Satan couldn’t propose that they go back to the Intermediate Realm together.
After all, it was the Demon God who toppled Bel Phegor just before the threshold.
“Why is that? The god stopped me. Perhaps it’s the god’s will that the demons should not cross into the Intermediate Realm. My inaction is due to the Demon God.”
The one who clipped the Great Demon Lord’s wings was indeed the Demon God.
“If it weren’t for the Demon God, I could have conquered the Intermediate Realm!”
“I understand. But helping those forsaken by the Demon God…”
“What good would that do?! The moment the Demon God sent me the Holy Wind Hero, I gave up everything. The Bel Phegor who was full of zeal and praised the Demon God is dead. What remains is just a worthless loser, barely scraping by after being betrayed by the Demon God.”
“Bel Phegor!”
“Yes. That’s my name. A name that now holds no meaning.”
Bel Phegor decided no longer to fight.
In the end, Satan had no choice but to join forces with the remaining demons, the Demon Kings, and find a way through this crisis.
And around 500 years passed.
Approximately five years ago.
The Demon Kings vanished.
At first, some thought they had gone into hiding, but that was not the case.
“They’re pinpoint summoning only the Demon Kings from the Intermediate Realm. Using their names for the summoning. In a brazen manner, trying to summon them as their servants.”
Only after two Demon Kings were summoned into the Intermediate Realm did they grasp the situation accurately.
“Where is Bel Phegor?”
“He fell into a deep sleep about five years ago. It’s no use waking him.”
“Damn. Even without Bel Phegor, we need to manage somehow.”
Bel Phegor had fallen into a deep slumber.
His dragon form was one thing, but losing the will to live for 500 years meant there was no way left to wake him up again.
What Bel Phegor had lost was his ‘will to live.’
Without a powerful desire for revenge or some motivation, Bel Phegor would have simply watched the Demonic World collapse and vanished alongside it.
“I can wait no longer. We must find a way and face this ourselves.”
Satan led the Demon Kings and the demons, trying to restore the Demon World.
He commanded the legion that had lost its Demon King, simply waiting for his turn to come.
Was it around two years ago?
Satan was summoned.
“Greetings, Demon King Satan. I am Zephar, the leader of Asydia and a loyal servant of the Great Demon Lord Bel Phegor.”
When summoned to Asydia, Satan was genuinely delighted.
Bel Phegor pretended to be sleeping, while secretly finishing all the plans behind the scenes.
All that remained was to bring everything from the Demon World into the Intermediate Realm.
Or so he thought.
“Well then, from now on you are the slave of Asydia.”
He had been deceived.
Asydia was merely the remnants of Bel Phegor, not the ones leading him.
Satan escaped.
Trying to bind him with summoning spells was futile, for the depth of life he had built up was too profound.
“Oh no!”
“You think you can make me your slave? Nonsense. Demons do not become anyone’s slaves.”
Satan escaped from Asydia.
Not just escaping, but he made sure to give them a hard time while doing so.
“I’ll summon a Demon King into the body of the Hero. What an amusing idea it would have been if I weren’t the one being controlled!”
“Ugh!!”
Demon King possession.
In whatever method Asydia employed, they subdued a hero using the Sword of Darkness, summoning Demon King Satan into her body.
Satan came to wield the Sword of Darkness and used that power to escape from Asydia.
Though it wasn’t long afterward.
Later, while forming an unavoidable alliance with Asydia, he discovered that—
“The Sword of Darkness can open and close space. Using that power, I opened a space to the Demon World. Through there, I summoned Demon King Satan.”
The Sword of Darkness held a very special power.
While it didn’t directly help in battle, it held limitless possibilities depending on how it was utilized.
Unfortunately, not only was it impossible to bring the Demon World entirely into the Intermediate Realm, but even making a hole smaller than a finger was challenging.
However, through that hole, ‘souls’ could be summoned.
If the space opened up just enough to bring forth the ‘cores’ that all demons possess, they could be summoned using a workaround to stay as far from interference as possible.
To summon the Demon King.
Thus, he summoned Leviathan.
Leviathan intended to enter the depths of the sea and seize dominion over the waters.
Then he summoned Beelzebub.
Though he felt sorry for Beelzebub, he greatly assisted in restraining the summoned Demon King.
And then—
At the moment when all six remaining Demon Kings crossed into the Intermediate Realm,
he summoned Great Demon Lord Bel Phegor.
With 666 pure maidens offered as a sacrifice, he successfully summoned Great Demon Lord Bel Phegor.
Zephar, the leader of Asydia, was sincere about summoning the Great Demon Lord, and Satan also hoped that the Demon Lord would reappear in some form on this land.
However, one problem arose.
The Holy Knights of the Order of the Crescent Moon Goddess barged in where the ritual was to be held.
Information had leaked.
There was a traitor.
Thus, the ritual had to be hastily performed, and instead of the 666th maiden, it seemed that the Great Demon Lord entered through the ‘660th’ maiden.
And—
Through the prior events, Satan realized.
Ah.
I see now.
The Great Demon Lord has vanished into thin air.
Even after crossing into the Intermediate Realm, he remains disillusioned and furious over how the Demon God abandoned the Demon Race.
And while the Great Demon Lord remained absent, the one who played a role in defeating him, the “Sorceress of Crimson Lotus,” appeared instead.
Satan resolved to win.
No matter what tricks the Sorceress of Crimson Lotus played, or how strong the Hero wielding the Holy Wind Sword was, he firmly believed he would win.
But now.
Before them, Satan was defeated.
“……Great Demon Lord Bel Phegor, you were right.”
As Satan gazed at the golden strike hurtling toward him, he gave a hollow laugh.
“Heroes truly are something else.”
It wasn’t strange to lose to a Hero.
Satan steadied his mind and looked ahead—
Sorry, Bro.
“…….”
The doll positioned on the shoulder of Hero Lucius spoke to him with strangely crimson eyes.
The one who howled vowing vengeance against the Demon God, with eyes full of murderous intent.
Ah.
I see now.
Demon King Satan realized.
Bel.
Bel Phegor.
Not the Sorceress of Crimson Lotus—
“You Sucking bitc—”
Kuaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh—
The golden bombardment engulfed Satan.
