The Overlord, The Automata, and The Silver

Chapter 4: The Name of Ainz Ooal Gown, part two (19)

Sorry for the short chapter. I thought it only made sense for the rest of it to be this much.

As Aeskell looked across the kneeling NPCs, she noticed that Albedo was looking kind of sad, and a little angry. She was going to have to talk to her later. But other than that, the rest of them were all good.

It was the time of the day when Ainz had to act as the guild master of the tomb, and this was her favorite thing to watch. Right before this, she could hear him talking to himself and practicing his poses.

Like she thought, kind of funny. In all honesty, she liked that about her newfound friend. He wasn’t afraid to rise to a challenge at all. He also loved the NPCs of the tomb enough to play with them in this weird game like view they had of the world.

At least that was what she had thought of them. In all honesty she was starting to love the NPCs of this guild base as much as Ainz. They were simply too devoted and too personable to ignore.

She looked to her right and spotted Ainz sitting down on his throne. The world item was rather powerful and overpowered in her opinion. His back was resting against the throne, skeletal hand resting on his chin. Why was his chin so pointy by the way?

Then he raised said hand from his chin and pointed it at his emblem hanging from the ceiling. He cast a silent spell and the flag burned to dust. The NPCs looked on in shock.

They had not expected their lord to do such a thing. Even demiurge was ever so slightly shocked by this development it seemed. But then he realized what his lord was doing, and smiled. Then Ainz spoke up:

“I will formally be changing my name! No longer will I be Momonga! From now on, I shall be known as Ainz Ooal Gown. If any of you have any objections, state them now!” he loudly declared.

Albedo seemed to shift in her spot near the other NPCs, but she didn’t say anything. She looked over the rest of the kneeling NPCs and sighed.

“No one objects my lord, by this we swear our undying loyalty!” she shouted out like a prayer.

The other NPCs followed up by replying to her: “By this we swear!”

Ainz sat up straight and raised his had holding the staff of Ainz Ooal Gown in the air, then he clanked back to the ground. It was then the Aeskell decided to do something. This wasn’t in the script that Ainz drew up. In that he simply had her stand there.

No, she decided to also swear something as well. Something that was near and dear to her as a person.

“I, Aeskell Peregrinus Walker, swear by my title and honor as a “Tender of The Atomic Flame” to uphold the honor and family that is the Guild of Ainz Ooal Gown!” she chanted out as well.

Ainz seemed slightly shaken by this but held firm on the script he had memorized for this day.

“Thank you, guardians and residents of the tomb of Nazarick. It makes me very happy to hear you all so eager to serve me,” he turned to Aeskell, “And thank you Aeskell for aiding this Guild and her residents. I promise you all to hold this oath of fealty to my heart. Now, you are all dismissed!”
